It's terrible to see such parents unthinkingly push their kids into the church - it's easy to condemn but the social implications are obvious. This video & many others are helping people to wake up & think about their supposed beliefs - it can only lead to the reduction in religion & so the elevation of humanity. It'll take time,
Remember the Jesuit maxim "Give me a child for for his first seven years and I'll give you the man." Parents unthinkingly putting their kids into church hands is too useful to the church to give up. Without those parents, the church has no future but as an ever diminishing secret club no one wants to join.
Good vid sky!!!, I see the point, in many catholic countries is the same...hypocrisy. If media were to play a more secular role, people would realise that what they are doing is wrong, very incestuous (because parents will be happy) and ultimately stupid. I wish the media stop presuming that we all belong to a faith, specially when public tv is paid from also all non-religious people!!!
I'm a hypocrite myself. I've had my kids receive the sacraments, and I wasn't just "not practicing", I was a full-blown Atheist!
Why did I do it? Laziness mostly, but also I didn't want to impose my views on my kids. When I was still catholic, my kids were sent to catholic school. Then I lost my faith, and I couldn't get around to rip them away from the environment they knew and loved. When they asked to receive the sacraments, I didn't want to force them.
@AtheismTV My dear free-thinking brother, I was actually quite aware of your case while making this video. You do not have to explain anything to me. However - yes guilty as charged, but you have more than made up for any former crimes. Talk to you soon buddy.
As a recovering Catholic I can tell you for a FACT what they believe, that Jesus Christ is the lord and savor and through him you are saved, in the Trinity and that the pope is the living incarnation of gods word on earth. Like he has an ear to god and acts as gods mouth piece because times have changed since Jesus and you need holey people to interpret that change from a biblical prospective. That's what Catholics believe being a recovering one I should know and those people are idiots. -__-
It's like at least know your bullshit -_- being a theist does not equal being Catholic, and they are Christians anyone saying differently suck my imaginary cock. -_- It's just something else that pisses me off. You were never really Christian because you were Catholic BS when I was confirmed because I've been through CCD I know more about your god then you do and yes it is a stupid idea. I found logic and educated myself out of being a Christian. *breaths deeply after rant* <- feels better now
However I don't think the Catholic religion will be so strict because they rely on baptism records to show how popular they are when like a large part of that aren't really Catholics. If you don't go to church on a regular basis and you don't believe their BS you aren't a Catholic, I should know I did once beleive and go to church every Sunday. But politically that will kill their fake influence.
@mgketteridge Thanks for the comment, indeed I would love at shot on the BBC or any TV channel to get our opinion out there, a little balance; but sadly the mainstream media are completely in league with the established cults, sorry religions! But ever little helps, even on YT. I for one will not stop trying to raise consciousness on the madness of blind faith in fairies.
Lastly, for the many many parents who say they are putting their kids through first communion and then when the kids grow up the kids can decide then whether they want to keep religion, it begs the obvious question: Well then why not just NOT indoctrinate them and when they have a more mature mind as a young adult THEN let today's kids learn about and decide whether they want to choose to have this voodoo in their world view.
For these parents, their childhood brainwashing was so deep and the perceived social pressures so strong that even when they grow up and now know that going to church would waste their time, they still somehow think that their children should be given religion.
This generation getting baptized now will grow up in homes where they don't go to weekly mass, so the grip on them will be a bit looser.
This is a trend away from religious control, but wow is it sad that it has to take so long...
I went to a catholic high school. I mentioned my parents were practicing catholics, and I knew they were for a fact, cuz practices were held every sunday.
Thanks for this. I hate the hypocrisy of my neighbours. Of course the church has a monopoly on education, so you're not allowed to disaffiliate your kids.
Just found you... you rock!
