  • Looks good. Bare in mind though that there is no oxygen in space for fire, hence no explosions unless there's an explosive decompression.

  • wow. 11 guys. this is exceptional work. cant wait to see it take off.

  • Would you believed it if I told you that it was the soundtrack that got me into this game?

  • @Unitronus Same here lol. Denny Schneidemesser brought me to this game.

  • I feel this is gonna create another benchmark in gaming. This looks amazing even now, so good luck guys

  • I think this is good for an alpha. Got here from DeviantArt by the way.

  • Cool stuff. Good luck to you guys!

  • Great!

Only little thing I was expecting but not from the Alpha (obviously) was a 3D ship construction.... I don't know whether it is going to happen.

  • The rocking score to accommodate what appears to be an intensely fun game isn't losing you any respect. I'm very eager to play this.

  • @loodwig Thanks man it means allot to see people who appreciate our work :)

  • Even if this is alpha, I still feel you guys deserve well rounded feedback. You've come far already and deserve a big applause! I was sort of disappointed that the ships are capable to only operate on a 2D plane. Don't know if your game engine supports 3D spaces, but it would be real nice if you somehow would be able to implement several 2D layers of operation on top of eand allow ships to accend and decend between the layers, thereby creating a 3D space we imagine space battles occur in.

  • Of course, it might not be feasable to implement 3D space battles due to the fact that the project's scope would skyrocket and this thing would become severly delayed or never even released.

  • Then for some feedback on the voice acting. Some of your current voice acting seems a bit lifeless, I'm thinking of the line at 4:06-4:08. He sounds too casual considering that a space battles is going on. The same goes for the Weapons Officer at 3:48-3:53. One would expect an officer to have a more commanding tone in his voice when giving orders to fire. The Consul General at 3:36-3:46 had good voice acting on the other hand.

  • Overall this was a very good showcase of your current build and I can't wait to see how this thing keeps developing and improving!

  • @TroublesomeInsomnia We can do 3D but we have no idea what we would put in that much space. We are definately considering having a wider field to move around; still flat by homeworld's depth but wide enough so ships don't crash into eachother when we do collision.

The voices are all just samples we had on hand, they were not made for the trailer; we decided to put them in as a placeholder for what we have in our vision. They were all done by one guy; hence the silent com officer. =P

  • .1 nice

  • the game is looking good, the same cant be said for the voice acting, the accents are aweful!

  • Looks awesome, i love lots of numbers and such. But i think i might have seen a naming error? i think it was "Shellding" ? or so on the shield module :D. anyway good job so far. (the HUD is bit big, i think)

  • I realize this is a very early alpha so a lot can change, but I feel compelled to offer my reactions on what I see so far.

The firing arc setups you've got now might encourage skillful micromanagement, but they also seem to encourage having warships wiggle back and forth or spin like tops in combat. Which looks goofy.

I understand why you're doing it, but I wish this game was 3D instead of 2D. It's space! I'd hoped so much for 3D when the Denny's music brought me to you guys, but alas.

  • @EatThePath2 3D would be pretty crazy on our scale O_o

I've already done a comic about the oddness of the "Spin to win" tactic. We do have an accuracy drop while moving; however, beams at this point were OP. xD

  • Looks complicated but it could be just me :)

I'm waiting for that beta to come out someday to see if i'm right or not :D

  • Amazing, i think ships shouldnt explode at the moment of die, little explosions and then a big boom... well, this is an alpha test, after all.

  • @nightovizard we have this and acualy alot more so ships dont just blow up they turn into spacehulks UNLES there reactor overloads, then they blow up. but as you said its still only alpha ;)

  • @NovusAeterno ok, that rules, and if after the explosion there are some parts of the ship floating on the spacce and then use something to recylce would kick ass, i think. if not just disapear in some time. I cant wait to see more ships in action... truly good work.

  • @NovusAeterno The most popular excuse in game development: "It's Beta!" (or Alpha). Game developers should stop using it, or at least use it sporadically, it's getting boring.

  • @KurzedMetal good point we will use the "we are 12 guys working from our basements eating ketchup and crackers. if EA games tells you "oh its beta" sure you can say "thats BS if it really was only beta you should not show it to us"

BUT when we are a total indie trying to take on a project this massive i think we earn the right to use the "its just alpha" excuse....

  • @KurzedMetal It's not an excuse. It's the truth. Making games takes a lot of time and effort, and a lot of stuff isn't finished until very late in development.

  • @nightovizard Exactly, we do not have it implemented yet but we've got the main combat in now =P
