  • From an old GIMP user FAQ I found online:

What's this beavis.jpg image used in several scripts?

(/usr/local/share/gimp/scripts/beavis.jpg is the B/W image in question.)

The image (of a kitten playing with Gumby) is used as "sorta random, sorta not" data to generate (for example) the crystal bands, or other texture maps. There are other ways to produce this data as well, but the author stuck with this one, found in a tutorial somewhere.

  • What lucky human does this adorable cat own?

One of the original GIMP authors, Spencer Kimball or Peter Mattis, we forget which.

  • And by the way. Don't you think that the thing the cat is playing with is a gimp teddy?

  • Could be, you never know

  • Hey! Stop putting those videos on YouTube. They're useless. Teach us something instead! For example: Show us how to get that cool toolbar that's in the top of your desktop. Or tell us how to add brushes to Gimp. Just something usefull.

  • I plan on doing those videos, don't worry.

p.s.- patience is the best virtue :-)

  • Thats so weird why would they put it in there lol oh and I think thats a toy monkey well nice vid1
