  • Are the corners supposed to have that black shadow? Is it from the lens or..?

  • So can you use your camara lens on the Nikon video camara you're using? Cuz I have a Nikon lens that fits an old fujifilm camara body.

  • dont mean to be a downer, but seriously, even with an adapter the CMOS sensor really wrecks this model. are all canon consumer camcorders like that? the jello, or at least wobbly effect is very apparent in the first few frames....i guess im sticking with the 3MOS sensor in the Pan TM700k..don't wanna risk this

  • @kudjo24 ya that hdc tm700 puts out some nice images and really good low light, im impressed, but its still a CMOS camera so it will still have the rolling shutter jello.

i got to test out a panasonic hpx300 at my church and omg, worse rolling shutter ever

but i'd still CMOS/3MOS over ccd anyday, CMOS has less color noise and totally immune to CCD smearing.

  • @magoostus tell me about CCD smearing? i'm not familiar with that term. apparently 3MOS is the new CMOS, which is why i think it's worth a try since they say 3MOS sensors are just built better to handle light issues and rolling shutter. but CCD smearing is something I've never heard of.....and they're expensive too, bleh, what do you think about a canon 550d rig??

  • @kudjo24 google CCD smearing. you'll find tons of info.

CMOS is totally immune to that

also, cmos and 3mos are essentially the same thing. 3mos= 3 CMOS sensors vs. just 1. It still has rolling shutter, it's an issue of the way CMOS gathers and transfers light.

ya ive looked at the 550d aka T2i. id personally go for the 7D, maybe even a 5d mk2. i heard from a canon rep. that the t2i/550d and 7D have the same sensors, but the image processing behind them is different

  • @magoostus damn, ill look it up. how well do you think an adapter on the pan TM700k would do? im just looking for a cam which can shoot HD and handle a war movie i.e. lots of motion , jerking around. i think it's getting nearly impossible unless I save up for a $2grand canon or CCD panny

  • Lol, what the heck is this song??

  • I got the camera little while ago and love it. I'm going to steal your preset though becuse it looks beautiful. Thanks =p

I want to get a lens because of this video but to be honest I'm not sure what to get.

    5 stars.

  • can you please make a video where you can see how you connect the camera with the lens..and where give us more onformation about the lens...price...PLEASE!!!!

    thx

  • that particular adapter was attached with ductape and a hose clamp, it looked pretty hideous to be honest, i've been building a newer adapter.

i really think your better buying a 7d or 5dmk2, way better edge to edge sharpness and light sensitivity

  • This is really really good. You're an excellent film maker. What program did you use to edit? Vegas? Pinncale?

  • I used vegas, its just what im used too

  • So, is this the same adapter from the first video? the one that cost you 0 dollars? as far as i've seen, this is by far the best "look" for anyone trying to polish off a consumer camera. It's beautiful really, better than those jag35 things and wayyy better than the encinema ones. I've got somewhat of an idea of how you'd construct an adapter, but i'd have to get my hands on a hfs10 and some macros and rings. got any pointers?

  • Yeah, this is the same adapter but i used a new canon focusing screen. The EE-A but i think your better off with the EE-S focusing screen.

i used a short section of pvc pipe, and lens cap and a small +2 macro lens

i taped it all together and used a hose clamp to mount it to the camera

I dissembled it all though, and im building a new spinning adapter, but im having a huge issue with vignetting since i don't have a condenser lens, so who knows maybe ill put the focusing screen back in it :P

  • as far as which camera to get... i don't know.. i actually hate my HF11 right now. CMOS sensors have that rolling shutter which bugs the crap out of me. also just about the entire vixia line of cameras have 3D noise reduction which smears the colors soo badly during high motion spots. its gross actually

Im thinking about selling my HF11, to buy a Panasonic HPX170

  • Oh wow, good luck with that! Expensive machines, I'm looking for quality on the cheap lol, entering freshman at the USC Cinema Art School and NO MONEY. Hmm, I was thinking of buying an HV40 because it has native 24p, would that stop the color smear at all you think? Also, is the PVC just attached with duck tape or something? How long should I make that section?

  • The HV30 and the HV40 are like..totally the same, the hv40's native 24p mode just means you can fit more time on a tape and doesn't require the usual 3:2 pulldown from 60i like the HV30 does. but the 24p will look the same on both cameras. i used to have an hv30, it still had noise reduction :(

for a first camera though, you will be very happy and having an HD tape deck is invaluable.

  • Oh wow, I just friended you and your band, good stuff! are you producing for I Am Band? And the myspace I friended you on has some of my dabblings around Ableton Live, you should check out Magic Missiles and Instant Art, two of my good friends. Also, HOSE CLAMP HOLY GOD!!!
