  • You know they do have ubuntu server edition

  • i've got the same computer desk for like 10 years its great

  • Hello, I'm more curious of how do you clean up? Does your room collect allot of dust after a few days or you use some sort of machine that filters the air and stuff...

It's because I assumed you're running this 24/7 and the only way to clean up without turning things off is to prevent it from getting dirty in the first place...

I liek some tips please :3

  • Nice mate.. but are you willing to stay in the room with all this noise?

  • What's on that 1.44 meg floppy?

  • This should be flagged as adult XD

    *boner*

  • i asume al your movies are on that server?

how do you back them up?

  • I don't. I am up to 12TB now. I am running a ubuntu ext4 raid now. I hope the raid save my ass or I will cry.

  • you should definetly find a backup solution.

raid is not a backup solution, it never was ment to be, its for redundancy.

allot of people seem to make this mistake and end up losing al there data..

what if your raid fails?.. dont say i didnt warn u.. ;)

  • haha depends on what kind of raid setup you have :)

  • @larskbragdon so what raid are u on? raid 5 or 6 ? inlighten me ..

  • @kalitron60609 RAID is not backup. you *WILL* lose your data, eventually.

  • i have this keyboard too

  • Check out my Data Center Videos!

  • @gh0x Its nice dude

  • ME HAVIND QUAD CORE 4GB RAM &GNG TO BUY 3 TB HARDDISK

IS 4GB ENOUGH FOR 3 TB ?PLZ REPLY...........

  • For what do you need so much fast pcs? you only offer free pc services on your homepage or?

  • games ;)D

  • Nice setup. Where can I get a rack like that. I am trying to build a webserver cluster but I cannot afford those expensive Dell, IBM, or HP racks (they cost about $900)?? I appreciate the response. Keep up the good work!!

  • I got it from Home Depot in separate pieces. You can built it as big as you like. I got the metal wire rack and paid about $80 for it. They have more wider one made of steel and heavy duty casters. Those are much more expensive but cheaper than a server rack. I have seen used cheap racks on Craigslist as low as 200 bucks but you have to move it yourself and they are heavier than shit.

  • I use a few scraps from the dump and last nights pizza box, personally.

  • It's just a standard shelf rack. You can get them at the hardware store or somewhere they sell metal furniture.

  • Use Citrix XenServer

  • hah yeah, thats a back breaker. so do you have esx server on that gaming rig/server

  • Not yet. I have Ubuntu 9.04 now I am still moving Terabytes of data around. trying to get the Unraid server completed.. I might have sharing out my stuff on Bit Torrent. I will have to find an add-on for Bit Torrent client and start creating my own hash keys Once everything moved around my total Media Server disk space will be 4.625 TBs. I haven't tried esx server on sata disk yet. I read that you could install directly to sata only to scsi. The workaround I think is a virtual esx server.

  • ESX will install to SATA - if ESX does not support your mobo sata you will need to buy a supported SATA controller. NICs must also be supported. I built my own ESXi whitebox and it is great ~ you really don't want to virtualize ESX itself ...

  • it is a lot better then before, though i do miss that prolient 7000. WHat did you do with em? heh you should open up your ports and make the stuff public.

  • I still have it. Trying to firgure out what I going to do with it. It is about 200Lbs so I only want to move it once.

  • what do you do with that

  • File server my all of my movies, sharing them between TVs, Xboxes, PCs, Laptops, Domain Controller, Group Policies, Security and Daily backups of all the servers, desktops, and laptops as well as managing all of the users in my house. There are 5 people with computers not including myself. Images, virus protection, security updates, managing Internet bandwidth is something that has to be done. Even my 5 year old daughter has a computer so I have to manage and monitor her use of the Internet.

  • nice.

  • thanks
