I realized you had the black lacquer finish. Does the finish really matter that much or is it all for looks. I know it makes some difference but is it really that much?
I'm purchasing a new tenor saxophone and I really have no clue what to get. I heard about these cannonball saxes but I know many other people havent heard of them. Any ideas. Price range is under 4000. I'm not sure whether i want a bright sound or a warm sound either.
Cannonball is a good company and they have saxes many younger players seem to really like. I have played them and don't care for most of them. They used to be a real deal and option, but at 4k, Yamaha is cheaper and better. Yamaha is one of the 3 main makers, Selmer, Yamaha and Yanagisawa. Keilworth used to make 4.
My advice, get a Custom Z Yamaha, check on line for a good price and it will be worth something if you ever want to sell or trade it.
Thanks Myriad! Steve and I played together a lot over the years. He was in my band first. Yes I was the smart one! Then we hired each other for some dates and then I did some with him for a while too. We just keep crossing paths and always have a kindred spirit when on stage together!
These shows are always pick up bands from the guys that come in to play. It just worked out that Steve and I had played together in each others bands in the past, so playing with him always feels good.
Greg I expect no less out of you! You are one bad man!!!! Keep playing!!!

That sax sounded different to me. Think the lacquer process did figure in but not as much as a different mouthpiece can.
