Thanks heaps for the opportunity to see our city as it stands today. Living away from Christchurch since after the February quake, I've missed it so much. Can't wait to see it again in life form in 10 sleeps...I miss you my beautiful city...
omg omg omg!!! I grew up here from 5 till about 25. Untill I saw this it did not sink in how bad it was.So much of what I remember gone. Is De Larno's magic shop still there? That is a pivot point of my childhood.
I support the rebuild plans and think a low rise cbd will be a great strategy for the future.
This is just mindblowing. I hardly recognised a lot of it until he said what it was! I had no idea quite how much was gone and going....just incredible!
Thankyou for posting. It's amazing to see that almost every place of significance that I went to in the CBD before I left is now gone. It's awesome to see places like Alice in wonderland still going. It will be interested to see what it all looks like when I next visit a year from now.
This video is a respectful, graphic and informative overview of the effects of our three earthquakes on the inner city of Christchurch. It clearly reports the progress being made within the RED ZONE to restore our city. Your clear local knowledge is helping us to rebuild a "new normal" visual understanding of our CBD. Thank you Warwick Issacs. Diane McCarthy Mt Pleasant.
From an ex-chch boy living in London, it's so sad to see my hometown like this. I didn't watch it til now, cos the last memories i have was being back 2 years ago. It's almost unrecognizable...thanks to all those working in the CBD to make it better.
So sad. Unbelievable how much has been demolished (or will be soon) and how much must be rebuilt.. It was a great, beautiful city. I hope it returns to that state.
Wow. A true sign of someone who spends their day amid the destruction - casually pointing at holes like "yeah, that's gone, that's gonna go..." where the rest of us would just stand there with our mouths open. Interesting to see that public art installations (for better or worse **COUGH**Chalice**COUGH**) made it through OK. Hope the High Street bronze Corgis are tucked away somewhere safe.
Wheres your long selves, safety glasses and gloves eh? skirt/cera is forcing this onto all the contractors (that NO ONE wants) and yet you are not wearing half of it???

No mention of Poplar Lane or Sol Street?
Thank you so much for your tender commentary. Much appreciated to be able to see the progress of our beloved city from overseas.

@aGreyAreaProduction I can't find it, but I'm pretty sure it was near the start. The price waterhouse building was on there.
