In the movie when Wybie was telling Coraline about the well, he said it was so deep u could see the stars in the day time.

Just like the "other" world.

The metaphor of the Other Mother ultimately being a spider was so well thought out and integrated in the movie- the Other Mother feeling through vibration when she's blinded, the way the insect furniture fell into the web looking like it had been caught there, the fact that several species of spiders are known to eat their young. Such an amazing movie xD

I ADORE this movie, mostly because I love movies that creep me out. The Other Mother/Beldam is the kind of monster that frightens us simply through human nature. Your mother wanting to eat you....The concept is what makes Other Mother intimidating, and her physical appearance appeals to the arachnophobia in all of us....all in all, Other Mother has been perfectly designed to scare the audience, and she does. She's the kind of monster who crawls into your nightmares....

I was watching an anime called Ghost Hound a while ago, and in it, there's a weird little person--maybe Homunculus--that has a face similar to the Beldam. When I first saw the Homunculus-thing, I was really freaked...never knew why...but then realized she reminded me of the Beldam. Her face was white and long and with kind of red around her eyes, and then little black eyes, kinda like the Beldam. Even her hair looked like the Beldam's.

Has anyone watched the anime Ghost Hound and seen that funny little girl ghost that appears? I didn't get it at first, but then I realized she was familiar because she looked a bit like the Beldam (her face, except it's a bit nicer than the Other Mother).

I thought this would be a nice song because of the title, but it's kind of sad, and ominous--like a false love. Creepy.

wanna know what i noticed? i noticed how much it was like alice in wonderland. Coraline, like Alice, was bored and confused, so they followed something. In Coraline's case, she wanted to know what the mice wanted; so she followed it, through the world to her "Dreamland". In Alice In Wonderland, she went to her "Dreamland". Coraline is a twisted version of Alice In Wonderland, people. :D
