Wasps are the only stinging insect I'm am scared of. Give me a spider or snake and I'm cool. Amazed these wasps were so chilled out with you being right there. Awesome.
@omgthisiscrazy1 Paper wasps aren't very aggressive and won't come after you unless you are really screwing with them. Unlike hornets who will be all over you for just being near their nest.
@jevric123 These are above ground nesting, yellow jacketed wasps. Docile compared to the (usually) below ground nesting yellow jacketed bees. Which by the way are VERY defensive of their nests and can rock your world if disturbed.
because..i too have the same philosophy..but i am getting a bit worried...cuz their nest is getting bigger..and its right by my front door...and i am worried they might get aggressive..any adivce?
i suggest going out at night, when its less than 70 degrees F (they wont be able to fly), and spraying raid in the nest. wasps are agressive, and if their nest is getting bigger, and its right by your front door, then there is a good chance that they will get in your house and build a nest inside. get rid of them before they get that chance.
id just close the lid and watch them burn in hell!!!! and after dat, u can have a nice crunchy snack putting asside your popcorn. not to mencion the stingers though!! LOL!!!
No, see I have a live and let live philosophy. They have never stung me or my dogs and they are outside in a grill I don't use. Had any of them caused any damage to me, my dogs or my property, it would be an entirely different story.
They are actually really cool to watch, so they can live out their natural lives (which I understand is up until winter).

Its good that you have a wasp colony. Wasps are carnivorous and they might probably eat flies mosquitoes but they also and really eat caterpillars.

Well...it won't be 70 degrees where i am until like...december. [oh southern cali...]
sooo...yeah.
And i have been reading about paper wasps..and they aren't agressive until you try and attack their nest...and by winter they die off.
So i am really not that worried.
:]
