First of all, ranking drummers is not a matter of opinion, its a matter of objectivity in determining fact. Fact is, in terms of skill level, the only ones that may truly fit in this top 5 are Raczkowski, Gene Hoglan and Tomas Haake. Also, George Kollias, Romain Goulon and Nick Barker are by FAR much better than Adler and Lombardo. Many of todays metal drummers are actually much better than Lombardo. Lombardo may have good taste and a good sense of music, however, he has very limited skill.

I think Tomas deserves to be higher, higher than Adler AT LEAST. Hoglan and Haake are equal in my view, and Yes, I dont think Lombardo, or Adler should be here, Metal covers a far greater spectrum. George kollias should be mentioned, as well as Sean Reinert, of Cynic, and formerly of Death.

From a technical aspect, Haake has them all beat. All are very talented drummers though. You hit a certain level, the level at which Haake is at, where you can't get much better. I think Mario Duplantier of Gojira deserves a spot on this list as well.

I'd put Bostaph instead of Lombardo. Check out Step by step, thats tight. The top three would be Haake, Hoglan and Sean Reinert. The 4th I don't know, pure metal music might call for some blast beat also and not only technical time skills, maybe Flo Mounier or Kai Hahto. Or Sweden; Lopez from Opeth had great sense of musicaity and Darkane drummer kicks ass.
