haha u dont no how wrong u are. harmonix made guitar I, II, and Rock the 80's. GHIII was made by activision after its transfer of production. So, now harmonix is making rock band while activision is making GH3. red octane (i'm not too sure about this) was in association with GHI and II. idk about rock the 80s or if they went w/ 3 as well.

Dudes. Harmonix and Red Octane were the creators of Guitar Hero 1, Guitar Hero 2, and Rock the 80's. They split up after that, now Red Octane and Activision made Guitar Hero 3, while Harmonix made Rock Band.

If you have a PS3 you will not be able to use Guitar Hero Controller. It appears to work if you have an XBOX 360.

Controllers will be out early next year. HUGE BUMMER FOR THOSE ON PS3.
