Whereas I liked this song a lot, my niece was absolutely in love with it that summer; she would get so excited whenever it came on the radio! I can still see her as a pre-teen, rushing to turn up the volume of her favorite song, and that's a great memory.

Bubblegum from the Summer of 1969, played endlessly on jukeboxes that hot summer, making us all feel dizzy from its repetitive chorus. Not a great song, but it survives in the world of sampling, which is the first resort of low talent rip-off "artists" in hip hop.

This song was sampled back in the 90's by a Hip Hop group called Nice 'n Smooth for a song called "Early to Rise". And another Tommy Roe song, Sweet Pea, was sampled by numerous artists as well, like Big Audio Dynamite and M.C. Lyte to name a few. So some white guy named Tommy from the 60's has contributed more to Hip Hop than that lame-ass Soulja Boy.
