Also, another thing (Not sure if you mentioned it or not) but before using the bow, warm it up by rubbing your hands up and down on it. It prevents it from breaking even more

@wolfbushcraft thank you so much for pointing out not to cut the outside edge of the bow, i tried to make several bbows, and they all broke when i tried to string them, them recently i made one, and tried what you said, i didnt touch the outside edge and this bow works great, and no breaks or cracks

He is very correct. Making and using a survival bow is very difficult. If you've got the string, you're better off using it for a trap or using it as a fishing line. This guy knows survival.

i have VERY little experience with bowcraft. in fact the only bow i EVER made was a 3 ft (estimate) bush bow from a single dried sapling. i even used fly fishing line for the bowstring XD

There are a couple vids about making flemish bow strings on the tube. The guy does a good job. Also look into some of the fast bows. Very simple survival bows that actually work. Not pretty but aren't meant to be. Will kill bunnies and other small game tho. Personally I make the Apache double bows.

as its a survival bow i used paracord...i fit the string by placing my foot on lower limb and pulling up and slipping string over notch...bows strings in the wild can be made by splicing nettles and strong roots etc...

Great video, I like the tip on not carving away at the outer edge. I've tried and failed lots of times at making a bow, probably cause I'm weakening the outer edge. Any other woods you recommend for a bow besides ash?
