  • LARGER THAN LIFE

  • Oh, dear God... This is awesome...

  • Pink Floyd = Genius

    Stanley Kubrick = Genius

    Echoes = Masterpiece

    2001: A space Odyssey = Masterpiece

    Pink Floyd + Stanley Kubrick + Echoes + 2001 A space odyssey = ... W.O.W <3

  • @snk07 ummm how about the writer of 2001 space odyssey and the genius behind it all futurist , astronomer and greatest science fiction writer of all time Arthur C Clarke.

  • TRIPPIEST. AND. MOST. EPIC. SH*T. EVER.

  • Awesome!!!, at least on this way we could enjoy the wonderful music of the Floyd's and the work of a genius like Stanley Kubrick. I cannot imagine the final result if the fusion of these genius could been possible.

  • the director was michelangelo Antonioni, the film was zabriske point. the soundtrack had three songs from floyd, but one that was rejected later became Us and Them on DSOTM! they did soundtracks for to other films, More and La Vallee (retitled Obscured by clouds for the soundtrack.

  • This film was about evolving into a spiritual being. To do that you need to know the Truth. Search Truth Contest in google and click on the first result. Read The Present on the homepage.

  • @DemianHermann Interesting little site there dude. Kudos for that .

  • I must get this film

  • This song makes me wish I was an alien.

  • I know the perfect word to describe this...

    Trippyyyy

  • Jupiter is maybe the most amazing planet in the solar system, aside from earth. its believed to be a failed star. among its many moons, Europa holds the most potential for life, as liquid water is believed to be underneath its ice surface. Liquid water might mean that Europa has underwater volcano's which could mean that it has its own unique ecosystem. On Earth, we have seen fish and fungi feed off volcanoes and survive deep ocean pressures.

There could even be a civilization under there.

  • who said drugs don't work? This is from the 70's listen and learn all you JUSTIN BEIBER fans to proper music not manurfactured and taken from samples just pure music from their imagination!!!

  • @mickluvsfloyd You can't compare weed to all the synthetic shit going around nowadays, god only knows what these kids are pumping into their blood streams.

  • grandioso!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ...absolute perfection....

  • wut band is playin? i thought dis wuz lil way'ne yo

  • My mind...yeah it's fucking blown right now!

  • @gasdfw5 Heh, I think Echoes is pretty "flashy", too. Just a different kind of flashy.

  • It's as if the song was made for this scene. :D God, the film is two years older than the song. Both fit so well.

  • UH-MAZING!!!

    THANK YOU

  • best part is 18:16 to18:44! ;D

  • 14:35 to 19:12 will go down in history as the best build up in a song of all time

  • if my life were 24:39 long, this would be my soundtrack. I would just lay on my back and look at the sun, until my eyes burned.

  • The coincidences in the song-video here is WAY better than coincidences in the Wizard of Oz-Dark Side of the Moon in my opinion.

  • @bladevampirekidway You are completely right.... But this supposedly was not a coincidence, Kubrick had asked Floyd to do the soundtrack for 2001 but Floyd had tried to the soundtrack for another movie (forgot the name) and it went terribly wrong, so they said no to Kubrick. Then when 2001 came out Floyd were really sorry that they didn't do the soundtrack so they composed Echoes to 2001's last scene... It's pretty awesome.

I don't know if this happen but supposedly it did

  • @SonHouse245 The movie was Zabriskie Point, directed by Antonioni. The soundtrack wasn't bad at all, it was Antonioni's ego that was fucked up. In fact, from that soundtrack, the song "Us and Them" was born. :)

    Peace!

  • best song off the best album :]

  • Rhapsody of film and music.. Let copy rights be damned this should be left for all to share. Tank you again and again for creating what never was.

  • Rhapsody of film and music.. Let copy rights be damned this should be left for al to share. Tank you again and again for creating what never was.

  • Simply beautiful

  • i admit i got bored by those jokes bout the ones who dislike videos, but i can't stop wondering WHO THE FUCK CAN DISLIKE THIS!!!

  • Gente siamo di fronte a qualcosa di prim'ordine eccezzionale siamo di fronte a cio che dovrebbe essere posto sempre davanti ad ogni cosa quindi cediamo il passo e seguiamo il dio dioniso nel suo lungo cammino

  • this song turns Pink Floyd into the Best Band Ever.. I am sorry by the beatles, but this is way better than any beatles song

  • The combination of the most beautiful guitar part and most beautiful special effects EVER RECORDED gives me chills.

  • 40 people have age reversal issues...

  • There is only one word that can describe this: MASTERPIECE

  • One of the greatest songs perfectly fits one of the greatest movies!

    brilliant correlation!

  • awesome song

  • there are no words to describe the beauty of this masterpiece :)

I really love the part at 1:09 when the guitar starts playing

but, there are so many lovely parts in this song...I think everyone has his favourite

  • @soopawhoops Cloudless everyday you fall upon my waking eyes, inviting and inciting me to riide

  • Associate Echoes in 2001 a space odyssey is pure Genius ! Thank you so much !

  • whoa. weed please

  • Some parts of the film fits with the song, but not nearly enough to say that the song is synced with the film. I choose to belive it's a coincidence.

Synced or not, this is one of the greatest songs ever made!

  • greatest floyd song of all time gotta say!!! like the live at pompeii version a little better tho

  • oh this is great... as i click the video it starts just at the point i like...

  • @giorgiakerr LOL and no-one thinks you are kool because you troll youtube and bash on people's memories... Seriously, If you dont have anything nice to say.... Dont say anything at all

  • That was freakin transcendental

  • I just went to the store, got two pizza slices, came back home, ate them, took a leak, and the video was still going......

  • Nothing exists but echoes...

  • @branch1234 No True Scotsman fallacy, I assume?

  • This actually makes alot of sense. I read the biography, Saucerful of Secrets, about Pink Floyd. In one chapter it talks about the creating of the song Echoes, which was originally called The Return of the Son of Nothing, and the original opening lyrics were about planetary objects. And in fact used those lyrics on early tours before Echoes was finally recorded for the album Meddle.

  • fun fact #2

its better to just shutup and enjoy the music then write a nice boring story about yes, no and karma :-)

  • @kahn267 dude...stfu anything floyd related is welcome..if ur not enough of a floyd fan to be interested in the "fun facts" then ur not a floyd fan

  • @branch1234 that's what we call a fallacy, learn to argue.

  • @kahn267 i found it interesting, gtfo

  • NEVERHADABADTRIPPURPLEHAZE

  • Masterpiece!

  • super

  • the great song..

  • this song kicks 20 tons of ass .. but my favourite part starts @ 14:14 and goes on till the end .. that is if you guys give a fuck

  • screen this in imax 3-d. i'd shit my pants.

  • So iv been told by many people, that i need to see this film, i reallyy want to but havent had the opportunity. But can some one explain to me what was goin on during that whole video?

  • @farley92569 You'll ask the same question when you watch the whole film

  • @mrvendetor hahaahha alright then good enough

  • My favorite movie + my favorite Pink Floyd song, and they actually match? I mean I heard the sound of jupiter, it plays at the same time as the jupiter trip, it all makes sense, this is not the dark side of the rainbow.

  • @ImKuuler i agree. but i want to sync dark side and this movie together

  • If u do not like Pink Floyd. U should not like yourself!!!

  • Comment removed

  • more than a song

  • This song is too epic for life.

  • @nbafreak41 More proof that Pink Floyd were from another planet, another real, another dimension. We humans are not worthy.

  • Man there are songs that makes you feel something important, but nothing is like Pink Floyd's Songs! They makes you feel something, something that you like, but you can't describe what it is.

  • excelente idea, buen trabajo amigo, gracias!!

  • My favourite song and film combinded ! This is AMAZING.

  • 37 Justin Bieber fans must not like this video.

  • love it no more to say xD

  • Pink floyd is the greatest band in the world

it makes me feel like im in heaven

  • This is an awesome accompaniment to this song. :) Of course, Floyd makes all things awesome by mere contact.

  • I'll be honest with everybody: That solitary rectangle digs into my deepest fears more than any atmospheric horror game or movie ever released.

  • In this debased age, one feels obligated to applaud this. But it's actually pretty boring.

  • Is it possible to get a higher resolution of this? It is incredible, and it would be neat to see in at least 480p (768p?) or 1080 :)

  • @fr1kk I wish, but imagine the file size xD

  • Yeah that is true. Is there a youtube file size limit as well? ie: how long could a 768p movie be on youtube before hitting a size / time limit?

  • @fr1kk I think the limit for uploads is 2GB each file. Even if the song matched 1080p, I don't think it would go over 2 GB, honestly. Depends pretty much on the audio.

You can always buy the CD and rip it to FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Codex). It may end up at 500mb for the audio file.

    Something like that.

  • Its a damn shame this is only here and nowhere else. Something to remedy I guess. It is kinda nice having this in the back pocket though

  • 'by the time yeur finished watching this in it's entirety we'll be friends

  • i can almost guarantee you that roger waters did in fact ask kubrick i he could do the soundtrack for 2001

  • @themaverik100 get proof and show me...because i can show you proof that kubrick went to an alex north first. believe me, if he went to roger waters i would know. it would be nice to see how dfferent the film would have been with pink floyd doing the soundtrack. would it have had the same impact, who knows.

  • exellent tunes and vid

  • i still think this echoe is much better then what they made later on.

with one exeption maybe "shine on you crazy diamond.

but the experimentals on this album are realy great, specialy in a time the record company was asking for "hits".love to hear this every time over the last 35 years orso.

  • I am stunned

  • danke fürs Reinstellen, super Kombination

  • I dont think it would have been better with this music. Voice kind of ruins it.

    But thrilling still...

  • Comment removed

  • A Saucer Full Of Secrets would probably fit this too.

  • It's great, but can you upload it in better quality.

  • i know that the planets make sounds ,the reason why is because pink floyd ,played echoes ,and their music went far beyond the insterstellar space, and it keeps expanding 1000000 times harder than a solar wiind rush.all the sounds of the planets are there since pink floyd recorded meddle, thanks roger,david,rick,nick..if man went to the moon ,but pink floyd didnt have to get in the spaceship , to put music on each planets and still creates echoes around the universe

  • 36 people didn't like echoes..

  • @zemo911 oh thank you capitan obvious!

  • @Pekhaes Captain Obvious saves the day ONCE AGAIN!

  • @zemo911 are you sure its 36 ,take a look 423,426 viewers on this video 2852 good views ,question should be why didnt the remaining bother to vote for it?and you care about 36? shees this comment is kind of old and it stinks

  • I'm floating at gravity 0

  • Thank you SO MUCH for posting this video. Not only is Pink Floyd my favorite band, but 2001: A Space Odyssey also happens to be my favorite movie (tied with A Clockwork Orange). This BLEW MY MIND. It is a testament to the magic of music and movies. I am still in awe.

  • ***Fun Fact***

Stanley Kubrick asked Pink Floyd bassist Roger Waters if he could use some songs from Atom Heart Mother in A clockwork Orange. Roger Waters said no when he found that Kubrick wanted the freedom to cut up the piece to fit the film. A few years later Roger Waters asked Kubrick if he could use sounds from 2001: A Space Odyssey in one of his albums....Kubrick said no. karma.

  • @mahavishnuxc No karma there, Kubrick is just an unforgiving fucker.

  • @edctgbujm123 like you wouldnt do the same

  • @mahavishnuxc He wanted to chop Floyd songs up, that's unforgivable.

  • @edctgbujm123 as roger waters would have done with the sounds and music of 2001so it could synchronize with the songs in his album. dont get me wrong i love pink floyd on of my of my top bands....but as an aspiring filmmaker, i worship the grounds kubrick walked on.

  • @mahavishnuxc It's not karma, just revenge ; ) Fun revenge...

  • @mahavishnuxc a pity, too. AHM would've been perfect for it.

  • @mahavishnuxc

I'd also heard that, because of the Clockwork Orange incident, Waters turned down the opportunity to score 2001 and later regretted the decision.

  • @stitch99

2001 was made in '68 and A Clockwork Orange was made in '71. So that scenario is impossible.

  • @stitch99

Ah. Did not know that. I'd only heard that they had had some bad blood in the past, so upon reading your comment, I assumed they were the same event. This was my mistake. I am sorry.

  • @stitch99 2001 came before clockwork

  • @mahavishnuxc i wasn't karma, kubrick was a genius... and he was pride about all he do, so when someone used to say him "no" he used to deliver a "no" as answer...

  • @mahavishnuxc Roger actually asked him if he could DO the soundtrack for 2001 not take music from it

  • @themaverik100 no he did not. where did you get that from? kubrick went to a ALEX NORTH, composer in hollywood whom he had worked with in previous film but then didnt use the music he created and settled for just regular classical music that had already been written, at least thats what i have read. its a rumor and it isnt true as far as i have read. kubrick did ask them if he could use music from atom heart mother and added to A Clockwork Orange....thats when they refused.

  • @mahavishnuxc Actually, North was assigned by MGM to score the film even though Kubrick had planned to go with pre-existing recordings. North, who'd done the score to Kubrick's "Spartacus," wrote music to cover the "Dawn of Man" sequence and even an overture to use instead of the "Also Sprach" excerpt. According to notes accompanying a CD of the North score - finally recorded in 1993 - North didn't know until the film's premiere that none of his music was in the film.

  • @mahavishnuxc That's not really ironic. It's more of a quid pro quo situation. Kubrick just remembered Waters saying no to him, so he paid him in factor.

  • @mahavishnuxc We know.

  • @mahavishnuxc How exactly is that karma? Sounds like some pretty straight forward payback to me.

  • @mahavishnuxc karma ? id say revenge lol

  • @mahavishnuxc that would have been such a sweet deal, both actually, what a pitty!

  • THIS IS THE 8th WONDER WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • hey I thought the limit for videos on youtube was 15 min. how did u get the whole song on youtube?

  • @LakesharkEps Wait til you realize whole movies are up here, like Pink Floyd's The Wall.

  • @dolania i wonder how this was actually discovered. was there some guy watching 2001 and coincidently he was playing the album Meddle the whole time through the movie? and the same thing with "dark side of oz" who discovered this stuff?

  • Compliments psilocybin quite nicely ;D

  • Dude... this is tight, brother! Thanks for putting this together for all of us die hard Floyd fans.

  • I think there is a group of nearly 40 justin bieber fans who go around and dislike all pink floyd related videos..

  • I had a heart attack at the images, and I jizzed at the music. Killer combo!

  • I listen to this song at least 15 times a day.

  • The song, and video in general, gets so good when he gets to the hotel.

  • i found this shit out when the movie just came out it is so fucken trippy i love it who ever put this on ily and thanks u so very much :)

  • At around 12:00 minutes.... I shit bricks.

  • skullcandy sk pro carbons on.. full blast..

    i love you

  • EPIC....!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • *PROOF* that one of the greatest movies of all time would have been just a bit better had its final scenes been accompanied sauntering, lumbering Pink Floyd Alien Funk.

  • Well Done, Sir! Well Done!

  • Three words for you, Children. Lysergic Acid Dythalamide.

  • 2001, is pure tragedy. Pink Floyd doesn't fit with Kubrick's mind. There is some reconciliation in the sound theme. Dissociation in the image.

  • Eargasm

  • Great!!!

    E5P1N

  • what a great track-video combo ...

  • I just got hit by Mangekyou Sharingan

  • @speedtypermananswer the fuck is that?

  • did you know they did it with ummagumma, atom heart mother and One of these days. I have it on my channel, you'll be amazed by atom heart mother. check it out!!!!

  • btw "overhead the albatross hangs motionless upon the air". That sounds a lot like the discovery floating above Bowman.

  • Way to combine one of my favorite songs with one of my favorite movies! :)

  • My god....its full of star's.

  • A nice musical ride through~ by some of the best.

  • Can you imagine yourself in Dave Bowman's shoes, watching this before his eyes with this music playing in the background, all on acid?

    Scary.

  • @churlyryan dude.......now that would be a trip heh heh.

  • why would anyone ever dislike this?!

  • yes!

  • This song proves that gifts can be had in places other than stores. Merry Christmas

  • who hasn't discovered pink floyd, hasn't discovered life itself!!!

  • My understanding of Floyd's reluctance to score 2001 was because Roger Waters was afraid of the band being pigeonholed as "Space Rock," which is why most of the lyrics of Echoes make nautical references (Albatross), whereas the original version was a little more... well, astronomical.

It is a shame we never got to see that match-up (they were also tapped to score Dune back when Jadorowsky was involved... pity, that). I still love 2001 wholeheartedly, but find this an entertaining option.

  • i strongly believe this song was playing somewhere in the background when rick wright died and his soul left his body

  • #1 best pink floyd song ever. #2 dogs of war #3 take it back

ha ha only kidding about #2 and #3

most underrated album: obscured by clouds. released between meddle and darkside, it got easily overlooked. Gilmour is smoking. if you dont love this album, you havent really list to it.

  • @thinfloyd It is interesting how you really can hear the "seeds" if you will of what would become Dark Side of the Moon in Obscured by Clouds. The overall tone and song structure, it's all there, just a little bit downplayed and laid back. If anything, a more apt title for the album would have been "The Light Side of the Moon".

  • After a long day at work i could kick back and watch/listen to this all night long

  • This just became my favorite song.

  • 18:12 why i feel bad for deaf people

  • Awesome...

  • I'd love to hear this song no the intro's round of Never Mind the Buzzcocks...

    PING!!!...PING!!!...PING!!!...

  • I almost think that if Pink Floyd had taken up the offer beforehand, it wouldn't be as great of an album. If they had recorded a song simply with intentions to meet the demands set by Kubrick, it would lack inspiration. If Echoes was inspired by this movie, then it could only come after the movie was released.

To me, Echoes is a masterpiece as it is; and the chances that the entire album could have possibly been better, under any different circumstances, seem almost astronomical.

  • so this pretty much confirms that Pink Floyd is the sound of the universe

  • sometimes, when i hear floyd's music, especially barrett or echoes, it feels like i'm about to cum

  • 36 People need to be stuck on a spaceship with HAL

  • @CrazyStyxFan yeah, the crazy homocidal HAL, not the reformed planet saving HALman

  • Pink Floyd should've honestly done this because when I watched the movie-

    Fucking silence.

Also, Pink Floyd is beast, and if you disagree with me-

    You can suck it!

  • I'm probably gonna sound like one of those weird-ass conspirators, but this song synchronizes perfectly with Jupiter and The Infinite Beyond.

  • This is the best song/video to smoke to.

    Happy toking peop
