@snk07 ummm how about the writer of 2001 space odyssey and the genius behind it all futurist , astronomer and greatest science fiction writer of all time Arthur C Clarke.
Awesome!!!, at least on this way we could enjoy the wonderful music of the Floyd's and the work of a genius like Stanley Kubrick. I cannot imagine the final result if the fusion of these genius could been possible.
the director was michelangelo Antonioni, the film was zabriske point. the soundtrack had three songs from floyd, but one that was rejected later became Us and Them on DSOTM! they did soundtracks for to other films, More and La Vallee (retitled Obscured by clouds for the soundtrack.
This film was about evolving into a spiritual being. To do that you need to know the Truth. Search Truth Contest in google and click on the first result. Read The Present on the homepage.
Jupiter is maybe the most amazing planet in the solar system, aside from earth. its believed to be a failed star. among its many moons, Europa holds the most potential for life, as liquid water is believed to be underneath its ice surface. Liquid water might mean that Europa has underwater volcano's which could mean that it has its own unique ecosystem. On Earth, we have seen fish and fungi feed off volcanoes and survive deep ocean pressures.

@giorgiakerr LOL and no-one thinks you are kool because you troll youtube and bash on people's memories... Seriously, If you dont have anything nice to say.... Dont say anything at all
This actually makes alot of sense. I read the biography, Saucerful of Secrets, about Pink Floyd. In one chapter it talks about the creating of the song Echoes, which was originally called The Return of the Son of Nothing, and the original opening lyrics were about planetary objects. And in fact used those lyrics on early tours before Echoes was finally recorded for the album Meddle.
So iv been told by many people, that i need to see this film, i reallyy want to but havent had the opportunity. But can some one explain to me what was goin on during that whole video?
My favorite movie + my favorite Pink Floyd song, and they actually match? I mean I heard the sound of jupiter, it plays at the same time as the jupiter trip, it all makes sense, this is not the dark side of the rainbow.
Man there are songs that makes you feel something important, but nothing is like Pink Floyd's Songs! They makes you feel something, something that you like, but you can't describe what it is.
@fr1kk I think the limit for uploads is 2GB each file. Even if the song matched 1080p, I don't think it would go over 2 GB, honestly. Depends pretty much on the audio.
You can always buy the CD and rip it to FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Codex). It may end up at 500mb for the audio file.
@themaverik100 get proof and show me...because i can show you proof that kubrick went to an alex north first. believe me, if he went to roger waters i would know. it would be nice to see how dfferent the film would have been with pink floyd doing the soundtrack. would it have had the same impact, who knows.
i still think this echoe is much better then what they made later on.

but the experimentals on this album are realy great, specialy in a time the record company was asking for "hits".love to hear this every time over the last 35 years orso.

@mahavishnuxc i wasn't karma, kubrick was a genius... and he was pride about all he do, so when someone used to say him "no" he used to deliver a "no" as answer...
@themaverik100 no he did not. where did you get that from? kubrick went to a ALEX NORTH, composer in hollywood whom he had worked with in previous film but then didnt use the music he created and settled for just regular classical music that had already been written, at least thats what i have read. its a rumor and it isnt true as far as i have read. kubrick did ask them if he could use music from atom heart mother and added to A Clockwork Orange....thats when they refused.
@mahavishnuxc Actually, North was assigned by MGM to score the film even though Kubrick had planned to go with pre-existing recordings. North, who'd done the score to Kubrick's "Spartacus," wrote music to cover the "Dawn of Man" sequence and even an overture to use instead of the "Also Sprach" excerpt. According to notes accompanying a CD of the North score - finally recorded in 1993 - North didn't know until the film's premiere that none of his music was in the film.
@mahavishnuxc That's not really ironic. It's more of a quid pro quo situation. Kubrick just remembered Waters saying no to him, so he paid him in factor.
@dolania i wonder how this was actually discovered. was there some guy watching 2001 and coincidently he was playing the album Meddle the whole time through the movie? and the same thing with "dark side of oz" who discovered this stuff?
*PROOF* that one of the greatest movies of all time would have been just a bit better had its final scenes been accompanied sauntering, lumbering Pink Floyd Alien Funk.
did you know they did it with ummagumma, atom heart mother and One of these days. I have it on my channel, you'll be amazed by atom heart mother. check it out!!!!
My understanding of Floyd's reluctance to score 2001 was because Roger Waters was afraid of the band being pigeonholed as "Space Rock," which is why most of the lyrics of Echoes make nautical references (Albatross), whereas the original version was a little more... well, astronomical.
It is a shame we never got to see that match-up (they were also tapped to score Dune back when Jadorowsky was involved... pity, that). I still love 2001 wholeheartedly, but find this an entertaining option.
#1 best pink floyd song ever. #2 dogs of war #3 take it back
ha ha only kidding about #2 and #3
most underrated album: obscured by clouds. released between meddle and darkside, it got easily overlooked. Gilmour is smoking. if you dont love this album, you havent really list to it.
@thinfloyd It is interesting how you really can hear the "seeds" if you will of what would become Dark Side of the Moon in Obscured by Clouds. The overall tone and song structure, it's all there, just a little bit downplayed and laid back. If anything, a more apt title for the album would have been "The Light Side of the Moon".
I almost think that if Pink Floyd had taken up the offer beforehand, it wouldn't be as great of an album. If they had recorded a song simply with intentions to meet the demands set by Kubrick, it would lack inspiration. If Echoes was inspired by this movie, then it could only come after the movie was released.
To me, Echoes is a masterpiece as it is; and the chances that the entire album could have possibly been better, under any different circumstances, seem almost astronomical.

*PROOF* that one of the greatest movies of all time would have been just a bit better had its final scenes been accompanied sauntering, lumbering Pink Floyd Alien Funk.

2001, is pure tragedy. Pink Floyd doesn't fit with Kubrick's mind. There is some reconciliation in the sound theme. Dissociation in the image.

btw "overhead the albatross hangs motionless upon the air". That sounds a lot like the discovery floating above Bowman.

Can you imagine yourself in Dave Bowman's shoes, watching this before his eyes with this music playing in the background, all on acid?
Scary.

#2 dogs of war #3 take it back

most underrated album: obscured by clouds. released between meddle and darkside, it got easily overlooked. Gilmour is smoking. if you dont love this album, you havent really list to it.
thinfloyd 1 year ago

To me, Echoes is a masterpiece as it is; and the chances that the entire album could have possibly been better, under any different circumstances, seem almost astronomical.

so this pretty much confirms that Pink Floyd is the sound of the universe
