I remember reading an interview somewhere with Dave Stewart who said that he wrote the song after hearing Nicks scream "don't come around here no more" at Joe Walsh, the guy she was dating at the time. Apparently, they were both on massive amounts of coke and Nicks, who was throwing a party, was pissed because Walsh kept stopping by her house after she'd ended their relationship. True story, if I'm remembering correctly
This song was AMAZING last night! They had an AWESOME laser show which really set the song off even more. SOOOOO BEAUTIFUL! The concert was really, really tight last night. Mike Campbell, the lead guitarist-VERY IMPRESSIVE! I realized that Chuck Prophet reminds me a lot of Tom Petty, his voice, his music, everything!
Dave Stewart wrote the song for Stevie. During the recording Tom had done his own vocal of the song. When Stevie heard it she got mad, and said that he could keep the song. She freely admits she was spoiled and stupid to have done that now!
well I will be damned! I never knew Stevie Nicks wrote this excellent song, nor did I know it was about her breakup with Eagle Joe Walsh. Fancy that. This is one of Tom's best songs.
No it is not her. She is not given credit on the record and neither Tom her Stevie ever said she sung backup. I just remember when i first heard the song, I thought it was her, but it wasnt
the video is one of those that just sticks with you, it's so strange, but so great
another great video is eurythimcs sweet dreams, that's one I remember when I was about 4 watching it on MTV (back when it actually PLAYED music) when it was new
The first time I saw the video, i was at the hard rock cafe. my dad told me he loved it as a kid but that the end always freaked him out. i watched it and was THE BEST MUSIC VIDEO EVER!!! Yet again that might be because Ive always loved Alice in wonderland. I dont get why everybody thinks that the movie is "wierd" or "creepy". sure maybe the Cheshire cat is a LITTLE, wierd but if u think hes creepy there, read the book. Best Vid Based on Best movie. just to take up space.Yay 500 whole characters
And the thing I love about this song right, its really helping me now get over this girl I was dating, we split a few days ago and I've just been finding it hard, but this song is really doing it for me =]
Few facts about this song A few more facts about this song I watched a 4 hour documentary on Petty the other day and they said that Dave Stewart from The Eurythmics came in with it and it was intended for Stevie Nicks to sing. I think he only had the line "don't come around here no more" written and Petty must have filled in the rest, so it's probably meaningless to him.
oh yeah, Stewart is also the guy smoking the Hookah in the video.

@Suckmuhfoota For "the guy from Eurythmics" you mean Dave Stuwart. ¿don't you?

She didn't write it. In fact...I heard she actually stormed out of the studio when it was being recorded :S Not sure - but she didn't write it.

Stevie sounds great on back up vocals. The strange thing is when I first heard this song, I thought she was singing back ups but was not.
Wild1995 2 years ago
@Wild1995 Stevie sings back up on the recorded version right? That sounds like her.

No it is not her. She is not given credit on the record and neither Tom her Stevie ever said she sung backup. I just remember when i first heard the song, I thought it was her, but it wasnt
Wild1995 2 years ago
One of the backing singers on the record is Sharon Celani, who did a lot of the backing vocals on Stevie's solo records if that helps

No she wrote it about her. Don't come around here no more is what she told Joe Walsh at a party after they broke up.
