  • I have a celebrity crush on him =S

  • I don't know know if I want to see this I'm a comedy freak

  • I really want to see this...

Although the womans voice introducing it made me want to cry a little.

  • At first I didn't think I would be to interested in watching this movie but I finally did and the movie was AMAZING!!! I didn't expect what I got out of it. It was such a beautiful film...I would definately watch it again.

  • sameeee heree ^^ :)

  • This was a very good but sad movie. Kal Penn did a great job in this movie.

  • This is one of the most moving and capturing cinematic experiences I have ever fallen into. Watch the movie, if you are black, white, yellow, brown, mixed, born here, born there, born period, it has something for you, be patient throughout, take it in, you will find you are all the wiser for having seen this movie. I only ask that you begin with an open mind thank you

  • this flick was excellent. I've always loved movies about the Indian American experience. The actors who portrayed the parents were amazing. I love Cal Penn and I think he needs to do smart and heartfelt work like this and stay away from those National Lampoon and Harold and Kumar scripts.

  • he seems like such a funny, genuine guy....and he strongly resembles my brother haha

And yes the movie was wonderful, all of my relatives went by the masses to see it lol And im reading the book right now, Kal is right--Jhumpa Lahiri writes in such a detailed way you can picture the images in your head so clearly, like a movie.

  • I LOVE this movie.

I love the whole discussion of the immigrant issue. I love the acting. I love the visuals.

Man! Makes me want to go to India and explore my Indian heritage (I'm 1/8 Indian).

  • We had a course called south Asian Women's Novels and their Film Adaptations. In this course we read several books and watched their film adaptations. The namesake was the best film. It's so real and very much like the book. Mistress of spices was utter crap. And Aishwarya's presence didn't help much either. In this movie, everything was nearly perfect, from Tabu to Kal and sets, everything just worked!

  • loved this movie

  • This was such a good movie

  • LITERALLY went by the book?

THAT'S A MISUSE OF THE WORD "LITERALLY"

  • You must be so proud LibertarianViewer, calling out grammatical abuses so heinous - especially in arenas normally so bereft of all rules of communication (YT comments and info).

The Namesake was the best movie I've seen in years, and it stays with me - a moving and real film, told with beauty and heart. Hollywood needs to discard its depressing cycle of TV remakes and sequels, and pay attention to real creativity. TORTURE PORN must DIE.

  • I'm not talking about YT comments, I'm talking about what the narrator said in the VIDEO.

  • I looooooooooved this movie and the book!! And Kal is just awesome!

  • in the movie, Gogol's (Kal) father died unexpectedly and Gogol realized how importance his heritage was and shove his head for the funeral (as a tradition according to the movie)

  • Since when did he have long hair or a shaved head?

  • He is so intelligent, smart, funny, talented and incredibly sexy!!!!!!!! I heart him!

  • i totally agree with everything you said!

    he really is amazing!!!!!

  • This was a great movie.

  • Kal is such a doll I love him.

  • i know right!

i would love to meet him one day...he looks like he would be an awesome friend to hang out with!
