Mayer's good. I just wish he wasn't such a - c'mon, let's all say it together - DOUCHEBAG!!! I mean, look it up in the dick-tionary! Douchebag = Mayer.
@Dogheadj sounds like you're just upset that you're not him. The man has an incredible skill when it comes to song writing, guitar playing, and getting the hottest women in the world. Dude has a right to be cocky.
@xAWAMx Naah, If I was a "wannabe", I could think of dozens of other guitarists I'd wannabe before I got to him. I said in my post Mayer's good. Yeah, he gets the hottest women around and then treats them like a real Douchebag.
you know what makes Buddy Guys shows o awesome....he's interactive with the crowd...in Tucson, he walked into teh crowd ....without security, shook peoples hands, hugged fans, sat on peoples laps...came upstairs at Rialto Theater...did same thing ..."I" shook the mans hand..a legend and a GREAT entertainer!!
Buddy Guy did nasty things to all the 45 year old soccer moms in the first five rows that left them wondering what the hell just happened. "Honey, some guy came out with a polka dot guitar"....
i really dislike buddy guy's tone.. i like the notes he hits and i like his guitar playing, but i cannot stand his tone, Mayers tone blows most of these ledgend guys tones out of the water with that being said if it wasnt for guys like buddy and clapton and SRV that mayer wouldnt even exist
@Jjjj187 unfortunately....stevie was great but he didn't have quite the range that john does i mean John just goes nuts in the segment around 3:45 not alot of other singers can control their falseto like that amazingly smooth
Just to clear this up, Feels Like Rain was indeed written by John Hiatt and it was originally released on his lp "Slow Turning" in 1988. 5 years later in 1993, it was recorded as a duet with Bonnie Raitt by Buddy Guy and released as title track of his second album on Silvertone records. Source: allmusic . com
@six2112 ROFL !!!! Hysterical comment !!! What's worse, he did the same to Jennifer Anniston, Jessica Simpson and other babes!!! More bad news...they say the asshole is hung down to his knees.

Either one of them can sing me to sleep Anytime............Love this song! Incredible duo! Incredible band! They can play those guitars too....... God Bless!!!
Afew years back I saw John mayer and buddy guy backed by double trouble at irving plaza in nyc.He was only around a few years and I didnt know who he was.I was pleasantly surprized he played great blues both with buddy guy and on his own. After that I noticed he started showing up and different blues shows.I also saw him play at Lincoln center when they had the living legends of the blues with Muddy waters band and others he was great at that show too.Nice to see that the blues will be around
@bgordo1015 You don't have to be a expert on the history of a genre to enjoy and appreciate talent and good music. Buddy learned from people before him just like John did. It's the musical snobs like you that stain good conversation about music. Mayer OBVIOUSLY is a student of his craft so let his make his mark.

Buddy Guy has been called the bridge between the blues and rock and roll. Vaughan stated that, "Without Buddy Guy, there would be no Stevie Ray Vaughan."
John Hiatt is a great songwriter who has been covered by everyone including dylan.Unfortunately his best songs such as Slow turning will never be appreciated by a wider audience because they are about being a family man something that is lost in the sterile world of modern music
I love how John knew 90% of his audience probably just wanted to see him sing songs from room for squares and look cute, but he just thought fuck this, i'm gonna tear shit up with buddy guy
Many men 'dis' mayer because he's laid so many beutiful women who are just soooo far out of their reach. He is 50% a product of a record comany and 50% a genuine talent. Mayer even admits to catering for and thanks his teenage fans for paying for his houses etc. But I won't fall into the trap of comparing him, just listen to him sometimes and have seen him four times, the best being the Albert Hall, London.
