De aanbeveling voor de 11 cd-box is helemaal terecht, maar de uitvoering die je hier hoort is wel een andere dan die op de genoemde CD. De Cd is 2 keer ruim 70 minuten. De lengte verschilt dus. Daar komt bij dat in deze uitvoering meer verstilde en uitgesponnen ingezoomde delen zitten dan in de versie op de CD. Laat onverlet: kopen die CD-Box!!!

The shrillness or harshness of tone of either the pianists / pianos / record engineering (maybe responsible is the quality of the upload?) makes this otherwise very tempting longer duration performance something I will avoid - two hours of harsh metallic pitches is not what, I think anyway, any composer in their right mind would expect to have any audience want to listen to, or endure.

@MuseDuCafe Believe me, If you don't like the pianosound as an instrument but when you appreciate the composition in itself, this is by far the best performance I ever heard and I have already attended 9 live performances so far in the Netherlands.

Still dreaming of a harpsichord-performance with numerous thrillers but this is already pointing halfway with the staccato-sound. No romantic fooling around, just a metronomic straightforward passacaglia. Mjammie ;-)

@FoliesEspagne Love piano sound, have no problem with detache or portamento, very much like the tempo here. Tone Quality of the instruments (and / or the players) is just harsh, and after not long, too harsh to bear for the duration.

@FoliesEspagne managed by turning down youTube slider volume and speaker volume up to remove most of the stridency. What I very much like in this one is the variance of density, thinning out the activity, taking it all into a particular register - gives the piece more variety and shape. I mainly agree with you now, this is a very satisfying performance of a piece which is always meant to vary each time.

Je vind deze uitvoering op CD 1 en 2 van de 11 CD-box 'Simeon Ten Holt - Complete Multiple Pianoworks' verkrijgbaar bij het Kruidvat ( ja de drogist) Op de overige 9 CD's vind je Lemniscaat, Horizon, Incantatie IV, Meandres en Shadow nor Prey. Allemaal prachtig.

This is more like the original lenght: of the first recording. 3 hours! Thanks for uploading. I am still thinking during the performances of the shorter versions for 2 pianos (Sandra & Jeroen) ....now the second or third disc is coming in .....
