Some surprisingly deep and thought-provoking ideas that X8 brings up.
I don't know if it fully does justice to it, but the idea of reploids becoming so advanced that they no longer need humanity, that they can make the decision to rebel against humanity is interesting.
A rather dark idea, really, that by spreading Sigma's data amongst all the new generation of reploids they've reached the state where they want to discard humanity and create a new reploid world.
I think Dr. Wily created not only the first Reploid but also the first Maverick - Zero. In Bass' ending in MM Power Battles 2, Wily is already working on Zero, prior to any mention of reploids. Mavericks came about because Dr. Cain reverse engineered Reploid tech from Dr. Light's lab ruins without the programming hibernation X went through to stop reploids from going Maverick, but Zero had already been built with the Zero virus.
i have a feeling that when lumine attacked axl, he got the sigma virus the same way sigma got it from zero. only time will tell when x9 happens to happen
@ArcFreesia if thats the case, then i guess they want to dispose of axl by turning him maverick. sadly i didnt realize clement point out the same statement i made. glad two ppl came up with the same idea ^^ i guess thats what capcom is laking of...."i hid myself while i tried to repair myself"
i dunno... with the way the earth rotates... I don't think an elevator that reaches into space would ever stay stable for long. After a few months or years it would falter and collapse. Its good for the metaphor of the actual epic, "Paradise Lost" but a teleporter would make much more sense in the plot but ok
So Sigma wanted the mavricks to go to outer space, create thier own world, and leave humanity alone? Is that really so wrong? Personally if Sigma would just leave with the mavricks then I'd be O.K. with it.
all i know is X5 was suppose to be the final X game, the zero series sorta ignores X6,7 & 8. so i can agree that after X5 none of it tecnicly happened. however in X6 zero was put to sleep in a way (i dont remember sorry) so i guess that can connect to the zero series but besides that its all i know. still however X8 is a great game. great job clement & thank you every1 for your great opinions, speculations & theorys about all this. @OmegaX74 Zero series doesnt ignore them at all, Area X is actually an orbital elevator left over from the maverick wars which was damaged and rendered useless, so they outfitted it with traps and such to foil intruders. the shaft itself in the artwork says "ORBITAL ELEVATOR SHAFT" or something similar.
in fact, in Zero 3, in Area X-2, you can see other orbital elevators in the background in the sky.

The concept of the sigma virus surviving in the next gen reploids kind of makes since IF Command Mission is really the next game in the series. This is shown in the fact if the large amount of mavericks with copy abilities in that game.
LOL!!! And for the Axl lovers, Axl doesn't exist according to Capcom! Well Capcom was right of him being a prototype, hes a prototype character to see if they can get more money out of all of you. LOL!!!
Its funny to see all these comments wondering of what happened with Axl or after command mission. You all know that X7, X8, and command mission aren't part of the X series, theyre just made up games by Capcom for profit, for just money. According to Capcom they never happened in the X series. The X series ends in X6, which should of been X5, but its X6 with Zero's ending that leads into the Zero series.
Whether you like it or not X7 and X8 are most certainly part of the X series. They have numbers right in the damn title. Capcom's never said they aren't part of the series and it's been said in the Japanese Artbook that the ending of X6 takes place after all the X games are over.

Doesn't matter if they have numbers in the title, they still aren't a part. Keiji Inafune states X5 was the last X game but Capcom basically went behind his back and made X6. give me a link to where they have said that X7 and X8 never happened. It doesn't matter what Kenji wants. The series isn't his. It's Capcom's. There's been nothing that contradicts X7 or X8 in games past it. Unless you have some official word from CAPCOM, there is nothing that says that X7 and X8 aren't canon. Stupid its Keiji's, hes the creator of Megaman. Google "Megaman X5" and in Wiki and then in the 3 paragraph and then in the "Development" section below. Do the same for X6 and in the "Development" section.
Plus if Megaman was Capcom's, then why are they throwing away everything related to Megaman since Keiji left them?
No, it's not Kenji's. He may have created it, but Capcom owns it and has the final word on it whether or not that's the morally correct outcome. But that is indeed an interesting article. If Axl didn't happen though, how the hell do Gray and Ashe have abilities to become the Mavericks themselves when they beat them and what about the whole look of Model A?
Over all Capcom is killing off Megaman as it seems ever since Keiji left.
Gray and Ashe have the ability to transform cause Albert created the program. Model A means Model Albert as you played in the game to known. Capcom must of just created them to resemble Axl as a catch to draw in people to purchase the game, hence why Capcom only wants money, but Axl was never mentioned in the game what so ever. Axl doesn't exist. Hes just created for the fun of it basically.
either way, it's stupid to retcon games that have numbers in the damn title. Even if they aren't as good storywise (and honestly they were leagues beyond the crap X6 pulled). Besides that, it's obvious that when X7 and X8 were made that they weren't supposed to be noncanon considering what the Zero Art Book said.
I know.... But X6 was a good game to me, though very hard, but thats because everything is in chaos. X6 is basically 3 weeks after the space colony Eurasia crashed and the world wide spread of the virus. Its not crap, but just people who want everything easy or straight forward I say. Though there were some spots that could of needed improvements but it was a fun hard game, even in normal mode.
But yeah, X7, X8 and Command Mission never happened.
What, just because HALO has a game that has nothing to do with the story but yet its still a part of story cause it says HALO on the title? Nope! lol! sorry ma'am, it doesn't work like that. X7, X8 and Command Mission aren't part of the X series, they never happened.
Personally, I think it would be interesting if X9 and onwards brought back Lumine as the new Sigma, becoming the main antagonist behind every X plot involving new generation reploids. That's just me, though.
@shadow86sk Ah, but who knows what happened AFTER Command Mission, I'm not saying Axl eventually turns evil or anything, but there is no mention of him in the Zero series (to my knowledge, though I have played and finished all the games on the Mega Man Zero Collection and I'm going to watch clement's let's plays of all of them), Axl might end up as a catalyst for something big, he might not, hell we don't even know if that piece of Lumine is still in Axl during Command Mission at all!
Also the story wasn't pulled out of their ass, it was made when Maverick Hunter X was being thought out and capcom was going to rewrite the entire X story with remakes of the first 6 games with the evolution theory in mind as sigma in maverick hunter x sigma got the same motive as this sigma so it can flow much better into Megaman Zero story much better. Too bad Capcom cancelled it mid-development [I swear it seems Cappy hates megaman!]
The Axl ending makes more sense in Command Mission. The attack that Lumine did to Axl made Axl's Copy Chip better, because in the last 2 games, he can only copy enemies his own size but in Command Mission, he copy any boss that the team defeats.
and I aways though Lumine was a wierd bitch,I mean,on the first video, when the ''car'' they were in fell down the elevator, did they realy neded to morph to sigma???they just had to morph in the form of a....well....a supa-resistent robot??
Ima bet they morphed to sigma cuz that was the first thing that came in their corrupted heads....
X and zero will never be outdated bc of their ability to adapt to ther enemies plus x probably has saved all the abilities he has had and could combine his armors as one ultra powerful one so x could still hav tricks up his sleeve
I heard that the animation director of megaman x8 was also the one who created axl in x7 but i really hope they have a x9 i really want to know if axl is going to become maverick i just don't know so i try to make my own ending for the x series by writhing in a note book i went throught 2 of them already
The explanation for reploids being "sigmas" is that sigma by going against asimov law of robotic decided to put his well being before the well being if humans, becoming "maverick". By incorporating him to the new generation the new reploids can "go maverick at will".
The explanation for new reploids being "sigmas" is that sigma decided for personal reasons to go against humans. The new ones have that capacity to do the same, putting themselves before humankind.
@Yggdrasi7 the laws of robotics are not a driving factor behind the megaman series. Yes, Light was worried about X breaking the first law, but they are NOT a factor here.
its funny how all these reploids keep calling x obsolete when all reploids are attempted replicas of x and as we have seen lesser ones the only one that isnt an attempted copy of x is zero
Lumine is shaking x looks at zero what!? Zero says shaking his head. Axl steps forward gets hitbon the head x blasts lumine axl! yells x. Looks at zero. Stop fuckin looking at me! Zero yells. End of the video walks up to x. I bet ur wondering about what lumine said. Turns his head smacking x in the back of the head wit his hair. well stop wondering whenever u wonder u whine I wish I didn't hv to keep fighting. Turns to x understand? Hears x falling down oh shit
Gah, there isn't enough space in these comments for mr to cover the plot points I want to discuss. Maybe I'll send a message. Either way I'd love to have an X-series/Zero-series plot discussion with you sometime.
As for Command Mission, I liked it, but you aren't missing much. It's completely irrelevant to the rest of the X-series. I wouldn't bother if you aren't an RPG fan.
The ZX series would be great, but they'd require emulation. Fortunately the bottom screen isn't important, I don't beli
I just think the new generation reploids have the data of all the previous reploids so they actually understood what Sigma felt and understood Sigma was right :(
If I am X at the situation he is thinking about evolution that lumine told about, I think back right aeay that we all create the evolution by our actions and mind, so it can be changed in different ways, this shit got shape, mind and all shit that physics and chemistry can handle. Whatever, great let's play.
I'm not sure that capcom would promise us a good x9 game, since it's apparent that sequals to awsome and brilliant predecessors are usally let downs. But I don't see why they shouldn't try anyway. After all, we get to see X and Zero in the zero games; where the fuck is Axl!?
Capcom...please make a X9. You finally did so many awesome things in X8 that took you forever to do since X4, but you got you're groove back, so please make a X9, CD or download, next-gen or SNES style, I don't care. Just please make a X9.
@TheAirShooter here's an idea for X9 should they make it: Explain what happens to Axl here at the end of X8 for one thing, also give us more of his backstory, and definitely bring in the wily references.
I feel that if they make an x9 then they will have Axl as the mastermind. Its just how Sigma became the mastermind. He broke Zeros crystal thing on his head and the virus was transferred to Sigma. Now that Sigma made the copy chips he transfered the virus to Lumine and then Lumine transfered the virus to Axl. This, of course, is just a prediction for x9.
7:25 "when your virus entered my system, the seed had been planted." Could axl become a maverick? Will X and Zero save the world once more? Could Sigma or Lumine come back from the dead? Stay tuned for Megaman X9!
yo sik lp man, ive watched all from x1 to x8 they are all awesome. ur commentary is the best part of the lp's tho. uve made me realise how sik the megaman x series is. seriously great job man. what other lp's have you done?
For those wondering about what happens to Axl. He's ok and the only thing that Lumine did to him was transfer data to his copy chip allowing him to change into bigger reploids as seen in Command Mission when he can copy into a huge freaking elephant reploid
@ClementJ642 I hope i provided an explanation that helped out confused people. :P
Ultimately though, we'll need an X9 to help explain this once and for all, particularly concerning Axl's origins and the New Gens. I don't know when we'll get an explanation for "Wily," but since Isoc seems to be back for Mega Man Online, perhaps we can hear an explanation from the "Wily" candidate himself! My feeling is that Isoc is the Zero/pre-Sigma Maverick Virus in a shell, or a Wily A.I., but we'll see.
@ClementJ642 Lumine may be strong due to being a groomed successor, who knows? But the unique faction symbol during his boss fight makes me think he's the new villain (and form of the "Sigma Virus," since he is Sigma, kinda). As for going "Maverick at will," if 'Rockman Zero: The Complete Works' is to be believed, maybe New Gens can turn off their Suffering Circuits (the fixed thing that causes Reploids to feel guilt and that malfunctions in Mavericks) at will. (X has an evolving conscience.)
@ClementJ642 Satisfied with his children, the New Generation Reploids (despite not lacking X's and Zero's DNA data), he plans to build a new world. Lumine, though made by Sigma, unfortunately grouped his master with the old world throwbacks, and so allowed him to be destroyed to ironically complete the evolutionary leap and avoid a power struggle. At the end, it seems that New Gens inherited Sigma's viral powers, so Lumine may be the new virus, replacing Sigma as Sigma did "Wily."
@ClementJ642 Sigma thought he recruit Zero by either rebuilding him or by awakening him with the Zero Virus, but both plans failed, and thus Sigma was unable to acquire Zero's power that way. Post-X5/X6 marks a turning point in Sigma's plan. As part of "phase 2" he begins building the new advanced race he dreamt of. He collected DNA to make them, and units like Axl were probably meant to get X's and Zero's data. Failing to collect it in X7, Sigma moves along with his plan anyway.
@ClementJ642 He also developed a fascination with Zero, prompted no doubt by working with some manifestation of Wily behind the scenes ("Wily" probably had a hand in X2 and X5's plots). "Wily" could have either been in his viral subconscious, the Zero Virus, or Isoc. Each time Sigma's plans get nuttier and nuttier, but they can all be understood if one accepts the premise that he is merely trying to push X (and Zero) to their limits, ultimately planning to acquire their power for himself.
@ClementJ642 Here is what i think happened in the X series as far as i can tell. I don't mean to sound like a know-it-all; this is just my theory. Sorry also for using multiple posts.
Sigma's PRIMARY purpose has always been since X1 not to destroy humans, but to advance Reploids through X's DNA (and later Zero's). In X1, he decides to go Maverick to take advantage of X's power, and also test and find the limits of his X's supposedly limitless ability. Other goals were corollaries to this.
Lumine is based on Satan (formerly known as "Lucifer") from the epic poem Paradise Lost, while Sigma's current form is "Belial Sigma", named after Belial, one of the rebel angels that followed Satan in the rebellion against God.
Since Lumine is based on Satan, thats why he's the true mastermind.
@KingOfHalla At the same time Lumine is the way he is because of Sigma. So it's a bit confusing to me. I recognize the reference, but it's confusing and takes away from the coolness factor.
@Angsc09 ...thats my theory, and i believe is pretty possible, but until Capcom and Inafune ( or both ) decide to give us a more detailed explanation of the series, ill stick to my theory. Dont assume u r right in your point, because as far as i know, unless u r Capcom or Inafune himself, i really doubt u have the offficial explanation and the complete story. Im not saying that Capcom releases the games only for money, but i wont deny ( u shouldnt either ) ...
Also, are you stating that Capcom is making for Money that mean you're not a true Mega Man Fan and true don't insult and critical other people opinion.
@Angsc09 I just made a commentary, i did not insult any1, nor did swear to any1, so if u cant read thats not my problem, and yes, i think Capcom used Megaman as a source to get easy money in the past, MMX6 is proof of it ( which wasnt even cretated by Inafune ) and the whole X series were meant to end at X5, the Zero series and the Legends series were supposed to be connected to that game. In my opinion, there r different storylines that follow different endings at MMX5-X6...
Looking in at all this, I can't really say that Lumine was truly Sigma. Yeah, I get it, Sigma's data, ideals and all, were in those copy chips, but Lumina also mentioned that Sigma's data was included along with hundreds of reploid data. Sigma was just one of many. To say his one ego encompassed all is a bit of a stretch. No, it's enough to say his data incorporated Maverick potential. Besides, Lumine still acknowledged himself as a seperate entity from Sigma. Virus, maybe. Sigma himself, no.
I said something to this effect in an earlier comment on an earlier video in this LP, but Command Mission is set before X8 because Axl didn't know he was a prototype yet in Command Mission, which is why they didn't elaborate on the events of X8, hell they don't even make passing mention of X8.
X and Zero will always be the most advanced robots period. Dr. Light and Dr. Wily (sp?) were the geniuses of their time and future generations. how much armor does X have? combat wise he can always improve and the games show as much. also...like Dr. Light said...he can worry. he can ponder. he has human level thinking. Zero cant grow like X (hence his name) but hes still pretty damn advanced. thats how i see it about all that :D
Actually if you watch an LP of Megaman ZX 2 or play it youself no need to LP it, I read your channel rules, the final boss is Albert (A throwback to wily only in name not person) who made Model A (Model Axl), the crystal could technically have corrupted Axl over time and turned him into Albert seeing as he didn't have X or Zero to control/stop him from becoming evil, just sumfin to think about for all yall and the Great Clement. :3
@SuperSketch008 Albert is no human, it says on the Mega Man Knowledge Base that Albert is a reploid, and he made Model A as a backup of himself so that he could revive himself, read up on your facts dude, or you'll make yourself look kinda dumb, like you are right now. :D
@NarrisNor Albert WAS a human. He was given mechanical implants so that he can live forever as a memeber of Legion. Model A was made for Grey, and Grey was to be his successor if he should fail, Model A was not made to revive him. YOU need to look up your facts. MMKB is not always true. Why don't you play the games to refresh your memory?
@SuperSketch008 Look, I don't care anymore, just drop it, I was making a SUGGESTION, not saying it was true, so stop, okay? Your right, I'm wrong, whatever.
@NarrisNor Actually, you sounded like you knew everything and I was wrong. I wasn't saying you weren't free to make up your own theories, I was just stating why I thought it was very weak. Sorry if I offended you in any way.
One of the best things they could do in my opinion for X9 would be to bring Dynamo back as either a Optional Boss or a playable character and if they somehow ended Sigma's reign as the last boss by tying in Omega, Weil, and the Mother/Dark Elf somehow and lock Zero in his 200-300 year slumber and make X seal the Dark Elf...and maybe bring up a hint of the future Resistance in MMZ. They could also possibly explain MMX: CM as a random flashback or something. That's all I can really put in to it.
an X9 to show how it gets from the X seires to the Zero series would be good, but shouldn't there be a Megaman to show what happens in the classic series to start the X series first?
@Kizur13 I don't think that would be especially necessary. We know what started the X series, the only "missing link" is what exactly ended the classic series, and considering the classic series isn't what one would call "plot heavy", there's little reason to wonder about it. Not to mention the tone of the classic series isn't really one that easily allows a "how everyone died" storyline...
hey clement, dont you think that it would be cool if they made a mega man x9, but used the original 32 bit graphics (like how mega man 9 and 10 went back to their original graphics)?
I think that the Sigma virus transferred its data into a program that is basic coding. Thus Sigma's desire for destroying humanity would no longer be a possesive force, but allows the Next Gen Reploids to follow his philosophy.Plus,it could also function as sleeper agents.Lumine could have been the first to realise this,an important sucsessor for Sigma. And while Sigma's philosophy and ideals lay dormant in them, his viral nature remains. However,it's mindless
@Unit6678 No, he doesn't. Sigma is not in Command Mission at all. The big final boss of the game isn't Sigma. I beat the game, I beat the optional bosses in the game, none of them were Sigma.
Some surprisingly deep and thought-provoking ideas that X8 brings up.
I don't know if it fully does justice to it, but the idea of reploids becoming so advanced that they no longer need humanity, that they can make the decision to rebel against humanity is interesting.

TheMeltedskul 5 months ago
The Axl ending makes more sense in Command Mission. The attack that Lumine did to Axl made Axl's Copy Chip better, because in the last 2 games, he can only copy enemies his own size but in Command Mission, he copy any boss that the team defeats.

Yggdrasi7 7 months ago 3
@Yggdrasi7 not because their program is corrupted but because they want to.

This, of course, is just a prediction for x9.

when does megaman zero and zx come in
michaelbond220 1 year ago
@ClementJ642 I hope i provided an explanation that helped out confused people. :P
Ultimately though, we'll need an X9 to help explain this once and for all, particularly concerning Axl's origins and the New Gens. I don't know when we'll get an explanation for "Wily," but since Isoc seems to be back for Mega Man Online, perhaps we can hear an explanation from the "Wily" candidate himself! My feeling is that Isoc is the Zero/pre-Sigma Maverick Virus in a shell, or a Wily A.I., but we'll see.
927541 1 year ago
@ClementJ642 Lumine may be strong due to being a groomed successor, who knows? But the unique faction symbol during his boss fight makes me think he's the new villain (and form of the "Sigma Virus," since he is Sigma, kinda). As for going "Maverick at will," if 'Rockman Zero: The Complete Works' is to be believed, maybe New Gens can turn off their Suffering Circuits (the fixed thing that causes Reploids to feel guilt and that malfunctions in Mavericks) at will. (X has an evolving conscience.)
927541 1 year ago
@ClementJ642 Satisfied with his children, the New Generation Reploids (despite not lacking X's and Zero's DNA data), he plans to build a new world. Lumine, though made by Sigma, unfortunately grouped his master with the old world throwbacks, and so allowed him to be destroyed to ironically complete the evolutionary leap and avoid a power struggle. At the end, it seems that New Gens inherited Sigma's viral powers, so Lumine may be the new virus, replacing Sigma as Sigma did "Wily."
927541 1 year ago
@ClementJ642 Sigma thought he recruit Zero by either rebuilding him or by awakening him with the Zero Virus, but both plans failed, and thus Sigma was unable to acquire Zero's power that way. Post-X5/X6 marks a turning point in Sigma's plan. As part of "phase 2" he begins building the new advanced race he dreamt of. He collected DNA to make them, and units like Axl were probably meant to get X's and Zero's data. Failing to collect it in X7, Sigma moves along with his plan anyway.
927541 1 year ago
@ClementJ642 He also developed a fascination with Zero, prompted no doubt by working with some manifestation of Wily behind the scenes ("Wily" probably had a hand in X2 and X5's plots). "Wily" could have either been in his viral subconscious, the Zero Virus, or Isoc. Each time Sigma's plans get nuttier and nuttier, but they can all be understood if one accepts the premise that he is merely trying to push X (and Zero) to their limits, ultimately planning to acquire their power for himself.
927541 1 year ago

NarrisNor 1 year ago
@NarrisNor That makes no sense. Albert is just a human with evil ambitions, he's no spawn of Axl.
SuperSketch008 1 year ago
@SuperSketch008 Albert is no human, it says on the Mega Man Knowledge Base that Albert is a reploid, and he made Model A as a backup of himself so that he could revive himself, read up on your facts dude, or you'll make yourself look kinda dumb, like you are right now. :D
NarrisNor 1 year ago
@NarrisNor Albert WAS a human. He was given mechanical implants so that he can live forever as a memeber of Legion. Model A was made for Grey, and Grey was to be his successor if he should fail, Model A was not made to revive him. YOU need to look up your facts. MMKB is not always true. Why don't you play the games to refresh your memory?

One of the best things they could do in my opinion for X9 would be to bring Dynamo back as either a Optional Boss or a playable character and if they somehow ended Sigma's reign as the last boss by tying in Omega, Weil, and the Mother/Dark Elf somehow and lock Zero in his 200-300 year slumber and make X seal the Dark Elf...and maybe bring up a hint of the future Resistance in MMZ. They could also possibly explain MMX: CM as a random flashback or something. That's all I can really put in to it.
Inusarushi 1 year ago
an X9 to show how it gets from the X seires to the Zero series would be good, but shouldn't there be a Megaman to show what happens in the classic series to start the X series first?
Kizur13 1 year ago
@Kizur13 I don't think that would be especially necessary. We know what started the X series, the only "missing link" is what exactly ended the classic series, and considering the classic series isn't what one would call "plot heavy", there's little reason to wonder about it. Not to mention the tone of the classic series isn't really one that easily allows a "how everyone died" storyline...
