No matter how rich and successful Dave became, at heart, he was still a blue collar soul and it shows here. Such a great, down to earth individual Dave was.
For me, KFC pretty much went downhill in the late 80's and their system isn't the same as what the Colonel had in place. The chicken doesn't taste the same and they use different oil and the gravy isn't the same. Pretty much KFC is second rate chicken when compare to Popeye's Chicken... The funny part for me is the fact that Church's Chicken has better Chicken and cheaper prices than both Popeye's and KFC. But back in the day KFC was the best chicken in US.
Truly fascinating. Great interview. Thanks for sharing it. Thomas and Sanders both deserve resepct for what they accomplished through hard work and commitment.
I grew up with Dave Thomas in a way. From 16 to 18 I worked for Wendy's. I worked everything from the grill, to the cash register. I even appeared in a "Wendy's World" training video. Then after college at age 23 I returned to Wendy's as a manager,, going from shift sup, to Asistant manger to GM. Eventually I went on to use my degree as a teacher but I learned many good disciplines at Wendy's, hard work, loyalty, and diplomacy. White red green white red green yellow!
if dave was alive today he would be kicking ass all over the place. Wendy's has went from my favorite place to eat to a place that just disgusts me.

They were both geniuses. When they passed, their franchises went bad.
