  • really liked this tune. thought the band were cool. and fancied a bit of em bouth at the time.

first heard this when I was on a school bus coming back from our camping trip.

only 12 at the time and loved it..... cool song....

  • 中学の頃、聞いた曲です(#^.^#)懐かしい...

    アバと交互に聞いてたなぁ

  • the guitarist lived opposite me for a while....

  • I so fancied the cute one on the left

  • This song reminds me of my happy school days.

  • happy new year to all the dooleys fans, retards the lot of yous. they were a bunch of dirty slags, who would fuck anything, and did.

  • I remember this. i had no idea this had charted in England.

  • Lol, I didn't know what song was Cum on feel the noise (Quiet riot) from GTA Vice City. The phone said that the song was this. :D

  • rus524 is a complete idiot that needs his dummy put back in and his nappy changed

  • Admittedly everyone is entitled to their own opinion but maybe after having a whipround we could send rus524 back to school to learn how to express himself in a more eloquent manner without having to result to using such foul language.

  • dirty old boring slags, fucking useless cunts

  • Heard this two weeks ago in Fuerteventura playing on Spanish radio! Couldnt think at the time who sang it but managed to find this! A real blast from the past!

  • Were they all family?

  • Allways fancied that one on the right.

  • ABBA wanna bees, never had a chance.

  • rflmao @ coggie42's comment

  • The busty one on the right was HOT!

  • Dooleys do ABBA = DRABBA

  • @HairyInLondon1

    or ABBEYS :)

  • @HairyInLondon1 - there were worse bands that copied ABBA in the UK as well as Europe. If The Dooleys did copy their style on some tracks (which I don't think they did) at least they did it well.

  • ha ha ha. paulhamerton. you sound a right cunt. its all that incest with your parents

  • God this takes me back a lot of years ... I was 14 when this was in the charts ... sure I've got it on a single as well !!

  • Nasty little comments on here....... they say a lot more about you.

  • I don't know what it is,and I may be wrong, but I think possibly rus524 dislikes this band. The toothy one was called Anne,I was quite smitten with her ,but she broke my heart, married another man and had his babies....after me buying all her records too....so much for loyalty.

  • @myepiphone

Perhaps we should have a whip round & if we manage to collect 20p we can send it to rus524.

Then he can phone someone who cares what the hell he thinks!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Bullshit ABBA rip-off.Nasty!

  • Don't know why but the girl on the left used to float my boat when i was 15...lol

  • hairy cornflake

  • I liked this wehen it came out in '79 and still do. The girl on the right (Kathy) I thought was very hot, the other one was OK too

  • did they ever 'go punk'?

  • Comment removed

  • @ROoooo80 - Yes. They called themselves The Gooleys.

  • there my wifes

  • This sounds very much like Graham Bonnet's "Night Games" !

  • @Enerjee

Certainly does! Although I prefer the first Alcatrazz album of his with Yngwie Malmsteen on. Classic!

  • good

  • @coggie42 its not time lol, the word is line.

  • Haven't heard this song for years......Luv it !!

  • god this brings back memories

  • The first album i ever bought was the Dooleys greatest hits!! Still have it to this day..

  • Compare this track to "Night Games" by Graham Bonnet.

  • i can now put the viagra away kathys back whoaaaaaaaaaa boy get down

  • omg I luv this song eversince I've heard it.

  • Brill!! Does anyone know if they were they all family-like the Nolans?

  • @ginghamdoll8 They were John Dooley (Guitar), Frank Dooley (Guitar), Jim Dooley (Vocals), Helen Dooley (Keyboards), Anne Dooley (Vocals), Kathy Dooley (Vocals), Bob Walsh (Bass Guitar - Anne's husband) and Alan Bogan (Drums).

  • @69Ploppy Thanks for that, it'll settle an argument.

  • the hairy cornfleak that dave lee trravis

  • @TejMulen Not as cute though.

  • This song reminds me of the old adage: "Girls don't go for nice lads, as a rule; they go for the wideboys/bastards/rotters".

"Wanted" is a great track, and I believe now - with the benefit of hindsight - that it deserved to reach the very top of the UK charts. (In actual fact, the highest chart posititon it attained was # 3 - at the beginning of Aug. '79)

On this particular single, The Dooleys managed to create a sound somewhat reminiscent of Abba at their best.

  • Visual effects have come a long way since those days lol.

  • I refer to a comment posted by "yenieko", some 8 months ago. He/she wrote (and I quote): ' "I'm the kind of girl that swallowed every time?" best line ever written ... fact.'

Well, I have to say that I think "yeniko" has misheard/misinterpreted the lyrics of this hit by the Dooleys, somewhat. Surely, the line is "I'M THE KIND OF GIRL THAT SWALLOWS EVERY LINE."

If "yenieko" had been correct in what he said about this song's lyrical content, then surely it would have been banned by the BBC!!

  • Back in the summer of 1979, when "Wanted" by the Dooleys was in the Top 3 of the UK singles chart, I was a 14-year-old-lad, and I can remember thinking that the three female members of the group were well tasty. (I nearly used a much more politically incorrect word than 'tasty' then ...... but I thought better of it!)

"Wanted" was probably the finest - and certainly the most successful, commercially - single by the Dooleys. On this track, they sounded reminiscent of Abba, in my opinion.

  • Great track by an underrated band. "Wanted" was, I believe, their biggest hit single; reaching #3 in the UK charts in August 1979. Unlike the group's previous hits - including "Love of My Life" - this track featured two female members of the group on lead vocals.

Lyrically speaking, "Wanted" was in the same vein as Susan Cadogan's 1975 hit "Hurt So Good". Both songs are about women in love with sexually unfaithful "wideboys" who treat them like dirt.

  • I remember them singing live at Belle Vue Stock cars party thing in the late 70,S.. Was anyone else there ? My dad fancied cathy if I remember lol

  • Can someone please post Growing Pains by The Dooleys. I would be greatfull.

  • went to see the dooleys at hull city hall in 1980 ... loved it ... check out the song and i wish its really good .... viva the dooleys i say!!

  • DLT, the Hairy Cornflake.

  • @sirtinycreep

Actually, he was known as "The Hairy Monster".

  • @standingforcouncil And when he took over the Radio 1 Breakfast show he renamed himself 'The Hairy Cornflake', so get your facts right, chum.

  • A totally unique sound from a brilliant music era. There were none better than the Dooleys.

  • Sorry, but Joe was never a member of the group. There were 10 kids in the family. 7 of which were in the group. Jim, John and Frank were the brothers, Marie (till 1973), Anne, Kathy and Helen (from 1978-82) were the sisters. Tom, Joe and Gerry did not perform as part of the group.

  • Although this is pure tribute to the ABBA sound, I cant help loving it!! :-))
