Admittedly everyone is entitled to their own opinion but maybe after having a whipround we could send rus524 back to school to learn how to express himself in a more eloquent manner without having to result to using such foul language.
Estimated friend, if you want to listen again this song and an endless number of successes of the love I suggest you to visit Radio MUSICA PARA MIMOS - looks for his direction URL in Google ( search Musica para Mimos in Google)-. best romantic music of all the times in Internet, is great, is very good ...!!!
Heard this two weeks ago in Fuerteventura playing on Spanish radio! Couldnt think at the time who sang it but managed to find this! A real blast from the past!
@HairyInLondon1 - there were worse bands that copied ABBA in the UK as well as Europe. If The Dooleys did copy their style on some tracks (which I don't think they did) at least they did it well.
I don't know what it is,and I may be wrong, but I think possibly rus524 dislikes this band. The toothy one was called Anne,I was quite smitten with her ,but she broke my heart, married another man and had his babies....after me buying all her records too....so much for loyalty.
@ginghamdoll8 They were John Dooley (Guitar), Frank Dooley (Guitar), Jim Dooley (Vocals), Helen Dooley (Keyboards), Anne Dooley (Vocals), Kathy Dooley (Vocals), Bob Walsh (Bass Guitar - Anne's husband) and Alan Bogan (Drums).
This song reminds me of the old adage: "Girls don't go for nice lads, as a rule; they go for the wideboys/bastards/rotters".
"Wanted" is a great track, and I believe now - with the benefit of hindsight - that it deserved to reach the very top of the UK charts. (In actual fact, the highest chart posititon it attained was # 3 - at the beginning of Aug. '79)
On this particular single, The Dooleys managed to create a sound somewhat reminiscent of Abba at their best.
I refer to a comment posted by "yenieko", some 8 months ago. He/she wrote (and I quote): ' "I'm the kind of girl that swallowed every time?" best line ever written ... fact.'
Well, I have to say that I think "yeniko" has misheard/misinterpreted the lyrics of this hit by the Dooleys, somewhat. Surely, the line is "I'M THE KIND OF GIRL THAT SWALLOWS EVERY LINE."
If "yenieko" had been correct in what he said about this song's lyrical content, then surely it would have been banned by the BBC!!
Back in the summer of 1979, when "Wanted" by the Dooleys was in the Top 3 of the UK singles chart, I was a 14-year-old-lad, and I can remember thinking that the three female members of the group were well tasty. (I nearly used a much more politically incorrect word than 'tasty' then ...... but I thought better of it!)
"Wanted" was probably the finest - and certainly the most successful, commercially - single by the Dooleys. On this track, they sounded reminiscent of Abba, in my opinion.
Great track by an underrated band. "Wanted" was, I believe, their biggest hit single; reaching #3 in the UK charts in August 1979. Unlike the group's previous hits - including "Love of My Life" - this track featured two female members of the group on lead vocals.
Lyrically speaking, "Wanted" was in the same vein as Susan Cadogan's 1975 hit "Hurt So Good". Both songs are about women in love with sexually unfaithful "wideboys" who treat them like dirt.
"Love Patrol" was my favorite too. The family was stationed in Bonn, Germany 78-81, and I listened to British Forces Broadcasting exclusively cause the brits had the best music.
i remember this i was into kathy,mo nolan (mmmmmmmmmmm) blondie enuff said and wendy james of transvision vamp used to totp every week not a clue about the music used to just stare at the tv , mmmmmmmmmmmmm bring those times back and that comment was maureen nolan not mo molan or whatever that mp name is it is she of of the sisters that shall be obayed long live the nolans
@cyaninternetdog i dont have your taste, i used to like this @ the time, but then i was only 9 then and i also liked abba, now im grown up i still like abba, but even the sentimental side of me finds it hard to stomach this utter heap of epic tosh, still it takes allsorts so glad u enjoy it x

@anniefudge Same here, saw them in chelmsford 1980 (10 years old and first concert) absolutely brilliant and I fancied the drummer Alan. Sigh happy days x

Sorry, but Joe was never a member of the group. There were 10 kids in the family. 7 of which were in the group. Jim, John and Frank were the brothers, Marie (till 1973), Anne, Kathy and Helen (from 1978-82) were the sisters. Tom, Joe and Gerry did not perform as part of the group.
really liked this tune. thought the band were cool. and fancied a bit of em bouth at the time.
first heard this when I was on a school bus coming back from our camping trip.
