There seems to be some reverb on this recording giving it an almost ethereal quality and beauty. I find it always enhances mjusic with just the right amount of reverb
Sarah Chang she shows her feelings as she plays and why not ? I saw her play Bruch Violin Concerto in april this year in London, wow just magic. Some of the people sitting next to me had never seen Sarah Chang perform before and had an open mind about her. After the performance they were just in total awe at the power and beauty of her playing ! Some of the people who post negatives about her on youtube say Sarah cant play well live, how wrong they are !! Bravo Sarah Chang !
Just look at Sarah's playing, watch her fingers, her whole body is pouring out this great piece of music, full of different emotions, all human life is here, there is sadness, frustrations, calmness, elations and at the end joy and great feelings of happiness.
Just fantastic and suuuuuuperb, baravo Sarah, von the very first time as i heard the way you play violin, you got very deeply in my heart and soul.i love the way and Interpretation, that you play this wonderfull Instrument,Thanks Sarah.
i do not think that Bruch in his wildest dreams could predict the how his one off masterpiece would travel the world inspiring the most gifted players and conductors to pour thir heats out , from Oistrakh to Perlman on to Mutter , Jansen ,Sarah Chang , and on ,and on ..
I have also seen Sarah perform this live, in april this year. Sarah is so gifted and wonderful that i cannot understand why she has so many haters ? I think her version of the Bruch Violin Concerto is the best of anyone around bar NONE .
Sahra Chang doesn't play the violin, she makes love to it and that's why it produces the glorious sound that places her at the very top of her profession. Does anyone know who the conductor is?
@MartinPadderborn This conductor is go wonderfully energetic, named Gianandrea Noseda. He performed with this NHK orchestra in Japan, probably the same venue 4-5 years ago, for Rachmaninov piano concerto No.2, which was absolutely divine !!!
@MartinPadderborn WOW... I'm so envious of you seeing her play today ! I live in Japan, so just wish I were there !! Please please enjoy the whole performance for me too ! Her energetic performance would really give me a lot of passion for life, especially now we are still in a gloomy situaion in Tokyo after the earthquakes.
I understand the situation in Japan and feel so sorry for the people. I know that they will come back from this terrible disaster because of their inherent discipline and general ability.
Her performance with Noseda is the definitive one and the concert yesterday didn't match it, but Sahra Chang looked absolutely gorgeous in the same style dress but this time in maroon. I was very close to her while she played and she gave me a little nod at the end of the performance.
Thank you for your encouraging words about our disastrous situation. Her music would absolutely be a source of beautiful inspiration to us all.
She gave you a little nod... what a privilege! She must have been very gorgeous in a maroon dress. Every time I play my violin, I always have Sarah in my heart, wishing to play like her. I'm literally in love with this Bruch concerto by Sarah, Noseda, and this orchestra. If you have any other music to recommend, please let me know.
Well as you are a violinist, you might like to check out David Oistrakh on YouTube. He was one of the very greatest players ever. He also recorded the Bruch concerto several times but I don't think it's on YouTube unfortunately, although doubt that even he could be better than Sarah Chang's YouTube performance.
Thanks for the information and I'll check out David Oistrakh. Personally I like Sayaka Shoji & Mayuko Kamio as well (Both are young Japanese), but Sarah Chang is my truly best.
Reading back what I wrote to you, I've noticed my silly typo in the very first line ; I wanted to say "so", not "go".... just embarrassing. It was my first comment on YouTube.
Anyway, I appreciate your communication from England, thousands of miles away from Tokyo !
@MartinPadderborn PS : The pianist was famous Finnish, Leif Ove Andsnes. The whole performance was on YouTube and that was my very best favorite, but somehow that has disappeared. So sad... Anyway, enjoy this superb music of Sarah and Gianandrea. I wish I were a member of this orhestra.
Awesome energy at 5:21! I love Sarah Chang's stylistic approach prior to 5:21 because I wasn't anticipating such an energetic orchestral performance. Wonderful and brilliantly executed.
Title says 1st and 2nd movement but only 1st is available, it would be very nice to listen "this" perfomance of 2nd movement please. 3rd is also available...
@MrChukoR by the way, even if i havent find Sarah very sensitive in some pieces and too fast in anothers i have found this performance simple incredible, amazing and full of feelings and power. Thanks for sharing.
I want to be able to play this concerto sometime, Sarah inspires me so much :)
