my gsp can do tricks with a gestures its cool after u teach him/her the tricks and do a gesture each time while your telling the command the'll memorise it! now i can tell my dog to lay down bye doing a gesture but it takes time for them to learn!
@outdoorsman106 What worked with us was having her sit, then holding a treat under her mouth and pulling it towards the ground without letting her get it. The second she lies down, we would praise her and give her the treat. Once she got the hang of it, we would make her lie down a bit longer before giving her the treat, but we would still say "good girl." If that doesn't work, try the harder way- every time he lies down on his own, say "lie down. Good boy!" Eventually, he'll learn the command!
@outdoorsman106 Also, a lot of dogs (ours included) don't like lying down on tile floors. Try it on the carpet first. If he doesn't even like that, try it where they sleep or where ever he is used to lying down. GSPs are smart, I'm sure he'll get it soon! We've already taught bones sit, stay, shake, lie down, high five, roll over, turn around, crawl, go to the restroom, go to your room, fetch, and jump. Now we're working on stand up!
@ChristineandJustin that good sid wich is my gsp he learnd high five in a day i wanna teach him to speak play dead and stand up.. i would love to see how bones crawls
@outdoorsman106 i was just jokin......GSP';s are my fave....hopefully i'll have one in my lifetime...not yet, but one day when i'm more settled down...good to hear he's good now!
@outdoorsman106 i had that same my puppy tried the treat thing as well as pulling her feet out from her and laying her down d praising but she wanted nothing to do with it finally what worked for us it is a little rough but very affective was putting a training tab on a non pinch or choke collar just a normal collar giving her the command and pulling the tab to the floor so her head was basically on the floor and holding it there and eventually her legs get tired and she does it
@weeman516 then lots and lots of praise get her really really excited and eventually it does take time took her about a week to do it everytime with out being forced but then once you she knows the command wich she will figure out fast you switch the tab to a pinch or choke collar and do the same and they catch on real fast
