GNR, overated. Beatles, overated. Michael Jackson, overated as fuck. Why does one pervert with 7 good songs and lip syncs live out do Zeppelin or Queen, who have about 20 good songs and are a couple of the greatest live bands ever.
1. The Beatles 2. The Who 3. Stevie Wonder 4. Michael Jackson 5. The Strokes 6. Weezer 7. Fleetwood Mac 8. Elton John 9. Oasis 10. R.E.M Just my personal list :))
i also must agree with you saying the music industry is going down. i still like some of the artists today, but mostly from when i was growing up. the main reason i say this is because of people out there saying they can sing when really they need to audio tuning to sound good(egs: justin bieber, black eyed peas, and a new girl rebecca black) so yes i agree that the music is going down. plus it is nice to be reminded how music really got started, and what brought the genres.
great list. i dont personally listen to alot of this stuff, but you have found where music truly came from. also, after watching your video i had to listen to a few songs. 1. i wanted to see what i was missing and 2. i found some songs that i have liked the beat too. needless to say i may try and gives these band a shot.
the only thing that really turns me away from these bands is the singing, they dont sound good to me. but i think i will listen to the music... see how that goes.
My top 10 bands and my fav. songs by them!!!! 10.Pink floyd (The Wall) 9.Eagles (Hotel California) 8.Hendrix (Purple Haze) 7.Ozzy (Crazy Train) 6.Nirvana (Smells Like Teen Spirit) 5.Rolling stones (Paint it Black) 4.Aerosmith (Walk This Way) 3.Led Zeplin (Stairway To Heaven) 2.Metallica (Master Of Puppets) 1.Van Halen (Eruption)
1. Led Zeppelin 2. Jimi Hendrix 3. The Who 4. Black Sabbath 5. Stevie Ray Vaughn & Double Trouble 6. Beatles 7. Cream 8. Pink Floyd 9. Ten Years After 10. UFO 11. The Doors 12. Soundgarden 13. U2 14. Pearl Jam 15. Them Crooked Vultures 16. Alice In Chains 17. CCR 18. Deep Purple 19. Smashing Pumpkins 20. Rage Against The Machine 21. Queens Of The Stone Age
I agree that modern music is crap. Lady Gaga, Ke$ha, Bieber (or Boober, as I call him), and all these pop artists are famous for sex appeal and shock appeal, not their music (which is terrible anyway). It's a tragedy. There's a kid in my 8 grade class who plays literally countless instruments (he plays atleast 4, and he plays them great), yet no one's heard of him. Not even the good artists like Pearl Jam get much attention. Its terrible (I'd say more, but I have to stop for sake of characters.)
@TheGreatestRockSongs i have to disagree my list wold be 1.The Beatles 2.david Bowie 3. Led Zepelin 4. queen 5.Black Sabath 6.The Knak 7. The Police 8. The Who 9. ACDC 10. Nirvana
@TheGreatestRockSongs , Michael (fuckhead) Jackson isn't better than the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Stevie Wonder, Genesis, Aerosmith, The Police or Queen! You obviously don't know music!
@TheGreatestRockSongs , I'm lame? That's the best you can come up with? What a moron you are...Michael Jackson? Ha,ha,ha....Thank God he died! He had a terrible voice, didn't write his own material, but people think he's the best? Wow... He's a fuckin' pedafile! How sick & twisted this fuck was! Fuck em, his dead!
@amstell13 He is a musical genius. I can't take you seriously when you say that he was pedophile and did't write his own material. That's why I say you're lame.
@TheGreatestRockSongs , He didn't write his own music, that's a fact! Do your research! He is a pedafile. Don't be gullible! How is he a musical genius? What is it about his music, if you want to call it that. He didn't play an instrument, & his voice is brutal! The media brainwashes people by ramming artists down the publics throat!
1. Led Zeppelin 2. The Beatles 3. The Who 4. The Rolling Stones 5. The Doors 6. Queen 7. AC/DC 8. Jimi Hendrix 9. Grateful Dead 10. The Eagles honorable mentions go to (in no order)... Van Halen U2 Eric Clapton Pink Floyd (I've always found them to be extremely overrated, but you gotta include them with this group i guess)
i've heard a lot from Dark Side of the Moon as well as The Wall, and i just haven't been able to get into them. i know, im in the minority, but its just my opinion. most think they're great
top ten 1.michael jackson 2.Elvis presley 3 Tupac 4 Bob marley 5 james brown 6 Stevie wonder 7 john lennon 8 frank sinatra 9 tom jones 10 biggie smalls
here's mine: 10-Metallica 9-Van Halen 8-Linkin' Park 7-The Rolling Stones 6-Pink Floyd 5-Lynnard Skinard 4-SRV 3-Led Zepplin 2-OZZY FUCKING OSBOURNE 1-Guns n Roses DONT ME MAD AT ME. LIKE HE SAID. THIS IS MY LIST. NOT YERZ
You should title this list as your favorite bands, because these are all rock bands and you don't even get the ones that should be in here. You totally exclude other genres, and you list several bands that are good, but their importance hardly stacks up to bands like the Beatles, the Jimi Hendrix Experience, and solo artists like Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
10. The Flaming Lips 9. Queens Of The Stone Age 8. Nine Inch Nails 7. Interpol 6. The Velvet Underground 5. Joy Division 4. At the Drive-In 3. The Beatles 2. Pixies 1. Modest Mouse That's probably the most consistent list I could ever make. It's never permanent, but those are all bands I listen to non-stop. I also had to neglect Bowie, Dylan, and groups you mentioned like The Who, Pink Floyd and The Rolling Stones.
i feel the neeed to put up my list 10. nirvana 9. metalica 8. van halen 7. the strokes 6. AC/DC 5. pink floyd 4. linkin park 3. the beatles 2. led zeppelin 1. black sabbath
Why not? Here's mine: 10. Black Sabbath 9. Rolling Stones 8. Elvis Presley 7. Linkin Park (Don't blame me, lol) 6. Pink Floyd 5. Led Zeppelin 4. Metallica 3. Guns N' Roses 2. AC/DC 1. The Beatles
Heres mine #1. AC/DC #2. Led Zeppelin #3. The Beatles #4. red Hot Chili Pepper #5. Creedance Clearwater Revival #6. The Rolling Stones #7. Pink Floyd #8. The Who #9. Eric Clapton #10. ZZ Top
my top ten 10. aerosmith 9. the doors 8. the beatles 7. the who 6 blink-182 5. pink floyd 4. led zepplen 3.the rolling stones 2. sublime 1. grateful dead =)
Sweet list dude!!!!! left off jimi hendrix exp i saw but its cool! never really got into Alice and chains but thats the only one on the list that i dont worship! along with reggae, i pretty much love classic rock! FREE BIRD!!!
my top 10 (my opinion not entirely my favorites) 10. Nirvana 9. ACDC 8. Black Sabbath 7. Van Halen 6. Z.Z. Top 5. Led Zeppelin 4. Jimmy Hendrix 3. Rolling Stones 2. Elvis Presley 1. Beatles
I listen to all of the band named above (except Alics In Chains) and they're all sweeeet, you have great taste, btw why didn't Guns N Roses make the list?
GnR was one of those bands that I started off liking heavily, but over time, I got tired of them. Same thing happened to Boston. Just goes to show that there are bands you like one day, then there's bands you like forever. Sorry if it wasn't there.
love it all i can say apart from alice in chains i go crazy over these bands wicked the best i am only 31 years old love thr 60s 70 s and cant forget queen
My apologies, I actually am trying to get into them, and I really do enjoy them to this day. And no, I'm not one of those people who either loves The Stones or loves The Beatles and thinks the other one is crap. I'd like to think I keep an open mind anyway.
i luv the playlist just one thing alice in chains! come on pearl jam and nirvana were the best of the 90s and mettalica and van halen and acdc read up bro
The 90s were just incredible, and as far as bands I listened to then, and now, it's sort of a grab bag of artists and songs. Personally, I like Van Halen, and I like AC/DC. Pearl Jam and Nirvana are cool, and Metallica was incredible back in the day. Then again, my interests change significantly from month to month. It's just how I roll.
dude you are probably the most ignorant person on the planet...first of all, the keyboardist for the doors played bass on some of the songs, second, how can you not put jimi in there, that is pathetic. i know this is your list, but, it sucks. at least your number 1 was good...listen to some different music
ps alice in chains has to be the worst alternative band to ever walk the face of the earth
ha ha, who says music geeks aren't alive and well? and FYI, Mr. Manzarek played the bass one the keyboard, but the did not have a bass player. although you probably already knew that, as you're most definitely 50 times less ignorant than me. thank you for your concern, and i will go listen to some soulja boy for a change of pace now.
Good job switching to GOOD music. I think I'll post one of these! Guess who's gonna be #1? I'm thinking of covering battle of evermore (not acoustic)
By the way, for those bands not on the list - the ones you "never really got into"? Don't check them out when you're older. NOW. I've been introduced to alot of bands but still love my faves the most. Bands not among my faves (but I still dig) - foghat, blue oyster cult, jethro tull, elp, iron maiden, allman bros, and iron butterfly-to name a few.
honestly there are too many bands or artist that have inspired me, but i respect your list because all of them are kick ass! oh and btw i love how you explained why those are your top list, very original unlike other videos on here.
Great list! I love how you described why you loved the bands you posted unlike others who just play the music. Also thx for not putting anyone like metallica on the list(no offense at all, their like my favorite band!) but people are making them a little overated. also if your gonna post Sabbath, i think you should give credit to the entire band. no offense, but they could play their instruments better than Ozzy could sing.(great frontman though!) still, very awesome list. rock on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great list! i like how you said why you liked them instead of just playing their music like most people would do. Also thx for not posting metallica (no offense at all... i really like them.) but people are begining to make them a little over rated. Also if your going to put Sabbath on the list i don't think Ozzy deserves all the credit, it was the music put together that made it good, and to be honest, i think the band could play their instruments better than Ozzy could sing.
Are you all crazy? you talk about the greatest artists of all time and nobody quotes Michael Jackson? Very Funny, in my opinion nobody here have a plan what good music really is
although i don't agree w/ everything on your list, it still kicks ass. It was cool how you narrarated the whole thing too, instead of just showing pics of the bands. kudos to you.
1.Bob Dylan 2.Cream 3.The Band 4.The Beatles 5.Neil Young 6.Jimi Hendrix 7.The Velvet Underground 8.The Rolling Stones 9.The Who 10.The Doors 11.Muddy Waters 12.Ray Charles 13.CCR 14.Allman Brothers Band 15.Parliament-Funkadelic
FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Someone with a brain!!!!!!!!! And someone who understands that Stairway to Heaven is not the only great Led Zeppelin song! By the way this is my top 6.
i will take that comment to believe that you're a modestly hot young woman that likes to listen to the same music as me. if not, then i will just kindly thank you for the input and leave it at that.
no prob. i actually just got into jethro tull. he's freakin awesome. and i've always thought that southern rock was far too underrated. i'm also glad to see you also think zeppelin is king!
ian anderson is the man, i like southern rock - allman brothers, lynard, and kansas but i only like the allman brothers enough to get them into my top 10 :P
nice, mine is: 10. The Moody Blues 9. U2 8. Guns N' Roses (even though some may not consider them "classic") 7. Boston 6. The Beatles 5. The Who 4. The Allman Brothers Band 3. Jethro Tull 2. Bob Dylan 1. Led Zeppelin (as well)
Awesome list, mine is 10. The Velvet Underground 9. Faith No More 8. Queen 7. The Jimi Hendrix Experience 6. The Who 5. Led Zeppelin 4. Pink Floyd 3. The Doors 2. The Ramones 1. The Beatles
i suppose it could. i wanted to give the people my word on each band, but i guess it would be better to shut my trap and let it roll. well i don't know if i want to do that or not, but i'll consider.
Oh, my bad man. I didn't mean to come across that way. I actually enjoyed your commentary. I was going to load your video on my myspace page, but with just the music if at all possible. Sorry bro, I didn't mean that as an insult.
no no, i wasn't insulted by you. i understand what you were saying. umm, only problem is that i had to make two files, one with the commentary, and one with the commentary and music (since windows movie maker won't let me do both), so i may have to redo it. like i said, i'll consider.
hey! im speaking in behalf of bauerrules who unfortunnetly was banned off of youtube for copyright reasons. Anyways i love this top 10, sure i may disagre with order of the first top 5 you had, but the last 4 i cannot disagree on. I am a huge fan of the who and baba o'riely was the best way to start off a great album. I own atleast every cassete or cd they have every made. Huge fan of your videos, keep it up
I respect your opinion.... so I will fight the urge to track you down and murder you in your sleep for not putting the beatles as number 1

Bands not among my faves (but I still dig) - foghat, blue oyster cult, jethro tull, elp, iron maiden, allman bros, and iron butterfly-to name a few.
rollingstoner614 3 years ago
hey, yeah dude send me those vids when and if you get around to them. i'd totally be into that.
r2daz 3 years ago
Dude nice top ten mine would be similar. They really don't make music like they used too. I do like some of Tools stuff though, its very original.
meankitty42 3 years ago
i can agree with you there.
r2daz 3 years ago
honestly there are too many bands or artist that have inspired me, but i respect your list because all of them are kick ass! oh and btw i love how you explained why those are your top list, very original unlike other videos on here.
dngl21 3 years ago
Great list! I love how you described why you loved the bands you posted unlike others who just play the music. Also thx for not putting anyone like metallica on the list(no offense at all, their like my favorite band!) but people are making them a little overated. also if your gonna post Sabbath, i think you should give credit to the entire band. no offense, but they could play their instruments better than Ozzy could sing.(great frontman though!) still, very awesome list. rock on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
rockdoctor92 4 years ago
Great list! i like how you said why you liked them instead of just playing their music like most people would do.
Rock on!!!!!!!!!!

believe me, i was caught at a crossroads. the only reason they didn't get the spot was because i appreciate guitar work over singing. no disrespect.

wow that was a great video, loved the editing.
although i don't agree w/ everything on your list, it still kicks ass. It was cool how you narrarated the whole thing too, instead of just showing pics of the bands. kudos to you.

no prob. i actually just got into jethro tull. he's freakin awesome. and i've always thought that southern rock was far too underrated. i'm also glad to see you also think zeppelin is king!
r2daz 4 years ago
ian anderson is the man, i like southern rock - allman brothers, lynard, and kansas but i only like the allman brothers enough to get them into my top 10 :P

this is by far the best list on youtube. any way you could upload this without the commentary?
sbnewman 4 years ago
i suppose it could. i wanted to give the people my word on each band, but i guess it would be better to shut my trap and let it roll. well i don't know if i want to do that or not, but i'll consider.
r2daz 4 years ago
Oh, my bad man. I didn't mean to come across that way. I actually enjoyed your commentary. I was going to load your video on my myspace page, but with just the music if at all possible. Sorry bro, I didn't mean that as an insult.
sbnewman 4 years ago
no no, i wasn't insulted by you. i understand what you were saying. umm, only problem is that i had to make two files, one with the commentary, and one with the commentary and music (since windows movie maker won't let me do both), so i may have to redo it. like i said, i'll consider.
r2daz 4 years ago
hey, sounds good man. that sounds like a lot of work, but either way, you have a great list here already and thanks for posting it.
sbnewman 4 years ago
imo hendrix would be ahead of srv, aic is awsome, but i wouldnthave them ahead of all those awsome bands
karlh5 4 years ago
yeah, AIC was more of a tribute to my favorite 90s music. i'm not as big on them as i used to be, but i like them all the same.

Great List you have there!
Off course someone will always pick on you, but as you said, its YOUR list, right?
Even though, I like that you show your music interest even if it will give criticism, but hey, if its your favorites, then its your favorites. :)
StuntmanKnut 4 years ago
What? AIC? what about Boston come on man. I'd post a response but I don't have the time.
