  • Thank you! I think I got it down now lol I have been looking everywhere and I just couldn't get the hang of it, but I think your video really helped! Thank you again!!

  • Yes indeedy---that makes perfect sense, and the results are just what this ear flap needs to look symetrical. Thanks so much for your quick response!

  • @mzimmmerly You're very welcome! I try to keep up with comments so I can answer any questions that come up. :)

  • Boy, this sure clears up a problem I've been having with a pattern! Thanks so much for posting it. But also, my pattern says to "mk1R" and "mk1L" at the beginning and end of each row (ear flaps on a chullo hat). Do you know what the R and L might mean? Unfortunately, the pattern maker is unavailable for comment.

  • @mzimmmerly The M1 stitch I show in this video (at least the very first one) is a M1L - a left leaning make 1 stitch. For M1L, you pick up the yarn and put it on the left hand needle in the same orientation as the other stitches, and then knit through the back loop. For M1R, you pick up the yarn, put it on the left hand needle NON-stitch wise (it will look funny) and then knit "normally" to create the twisted stitch. I don't have time to make a video now, but I will try to soon.

  • Thanks so much. The You Tube illustration was great. Appreciate it.

  • *so much! :)

  • Perfect, Thanks do much!

  • Thank you!

  • ok guys, but what's the purpose to increase or increase. For instance if I want to make a project where there are hearts, then is there where I will need increase or decrease stiches. Thank you.

  • @supermelodia Usually a pattern will indicate where you need to have increases of decreases. Increases and decreases help with contouring. If you are knitting a ball (a sphere), you will be increasing stitches at one end, and then decreasing stitches at the other. The M1 stitch is one method of increasing stitches.

  • THANK YOU so much! I watched maybe 10 other videos and they kept saying "knit it through the back" but didn't explain what that meant or why we had to do it. You're the only one who gave me the information I needed to understand what I was trying to accomplish here. Great job!

  • This is the best video on learning how to increase a stitch, even showing the best method and why! Thank you.

  • Thanks so much for the tutorial on this stitch. I knew there was a difference to Inc1 and M1 but I didn't know exactly. You have a very clear voice and explain things very well.

  • I agree. Great video. Very easy to understand. Thanks.

  • This is a great video! Thank you for the help!!

  • Great video! I was really able to see what you were doing. Thanks so much!

  • Great video for m1. Thank you
