Came to NYC in 2004. Stood at the top of the" Empire State Building" , walked over a bit on Brooklin Bridge and played this ....did i get one on. Native New Yorker and Gino Vannelli's "Night Walker" I was in heaven. In the hotel room listening to Ramsey lewis ...i could be on all night about what i played, happy time! see you soon NYC ...Jeff in the UK
Ain't no river there no more..... Wounded river opens wide swallows good and evil tide Deep as river, Wide as love No Robot killer can stand above Heavenly funk and earthly fate Wanna jump in and be it's mate Lose yourself, dissintigrate.... East River La di dah Died and went to heaven ha ha hah Dancing with the angels cha cha cha Singing with the devil ooh la la East River la di dah
Its actually Terry Bozzio and Alan Schwartzberg on drums, and Neil Jason on bass and lead vocals on this tune. But, you're right, Lenny White and Stanley Clarke are awesome.
Classic from the late seventies. It never got played on the radio much in England but me and my mates loved it. Brings back so many memories of my teens. Thanks so much for posting up. Top Stuff!

Ain't no river there no more...
Lefts it's skin like a giant snake
Is the fake real or the real fake
Is it just a some fat cat fish
Who Feeds all day on waste and wish
I'm Standing on the bridge of time
There's no way across but to lose my mind
Jump off time, see what I find...

Absolutely fabulous. My HS jazz band played "Skunk Funk" transcribed directly from this album. Did this album "Heavy Metal BeBop" ever make it to CD?
Easymuse 2 years ago

This has to be played as loud as possible to get the best out of it. This is possibly the only heavy rock song that I like !

Its one of my favorite Brecker Brothers tunes. It really has that late 70's New York vibe.
