@BrujoAsesino123 No, but they fit in any Seymour Duncan active pickup guitar. I was told it was easy to install. Plus the back plate has 2 batterry slots pop out to change batteries. No unscrewing necessary. That's why I went for this guitar because it was a great way to try active pickups.
@wwetnajeffhardy12345, I use them for D standard and Drop C, which I think they're perfect for. They can probably do 2 steps (C) down, but don't know how well that would go. Anything lower I wouldn't use them.
@wwetnajeffhardy12345 I've played one tuned to G standard, brutal as fuck. It's a very strong pickup sound at lower tuning especially, with the jumper in.
@EnsiGeetard I have an ibanez 370dx, it has a neck pu, middle pu and a bridge pu... so I was wondering if I can just change the bridge pickup for a blackout. 'cause I want to get a more metal tone
@Torqueofficial, to be honest, I wouldn't change it if you already have passive pickups. If you want to change your sound, I'd rather save up for a nice kickass tube amp! :)
@Torqueofficial My neck thru Soloist sounds better with the blackout metal in the bridge, but I still have the stock single coil live wires installed. Live Wires were designed in 1986 to compete with EMG 81 and 85 pickups. There is a big difference between the blackout bridge and the old Live Wires. having a good amp is important, too, but you'll have to check your budget.
@Torqueofficial All guitars can use actives because everything that you need comes with the pickups. Your battery might bounce around in the space under the pickguard, but just attach it with tape or something. My USA Jackson came with older live wire actives, and the luthier I know simply put a Blackout where the old pickup was. My Jackson was stock except the back plate on the guitar had 2 built in slots for the batteries. Most people put the batteries in the control chamber.
@Starchild132, from Ishibashi Music in Japan a couple of years ago. They stopped making it so if you want one you'll have to find one used, but there's not many of them so good luck :(
I see...thanks. Reason why I ask is because I have a Blackout bridge installed in my gitar and I am struggling to find a good lead tone. Its mindblowing for heavy riffs and low end notes but comes off really dry and sterile for high note solos. Good to know it can be done like you demonstrated there...
@MisticWays Try musicians friend or it's competitor American Music Supply. AMS. Or a guitar center store. You can request musician's friend to send monthly catalogs for free, just like AMS.
@75rdc you actually can't do that without it sounding like crap, it's either all active or all passive. but seymour duncan makes blackout single coils so if you get all 3 you're set
@EnsiGeetard I actually thought about getting a Jackson RR24, put some Blackouts, either AHB-1 or AHB-2. But if I got AHB-2 i would drill the guitar to make switch instead of jumper :)
nice dude, I've got an ESP SV i use for drop c and d-standard. Trying to decide between the beefy slinkys and the daddario medium top extra-heavy bottom - 11 14 19 32 44 56. Whatch ya think? Im currently using daddario 11-52 and they're not tight enough for me.
That guitar is beautiful. That second last riff you were doin with that sorta sweep. I cant figure out what it is, and I know I know it! @#$% that pisses me off!
Thanks for the comments dude! Yeah the blackouts are good, but imo they produce a very un-natural tone, so I switched back to my HZ3. But I have a humming problem :(
The riff was just something random I came up with some days before. I think I have heard it before.

@Torqueofficial, active guitar? What do you mean?
You CAN change just the bridge, but if you have 2 pickups it's recommended to change both so you don't have to deal with a wire mess.

Well, it's pretty good at riffs, sounds good, but it has this wah-ish feel to it. Probably cus it's active.
And AHB-1 and AHB-2, there's a new preamp and some other new cool shit.
