This movie sucks so much. All those people making those american witty remarks to higher people. In real nazi-Germany, you would think twice before doing that.
This movie should have had lots of VW Beetles on the streets. They were in the book. It would have been an eerie touch of realism for 1964. But with the movie being made in 1994 I suppose they were been difficult to find in Europe. Still, they could have found a few of them.
@marshja56: Probably not, TBH. The Beetles as we know them today were really meant for the Nazi higher-ups and probably wouldn't have entered mass production, unless Ferry Porsche had fled elsewhere, say, Mexico, or Brazil.
OH GOOD!!! That art su=muggler is a guy like me who has no friends, because he cant keep a secret....nor keep something a secret. he has to shout inside the train.
Arthur Nebe gets such a favorable portrayal in this. He was an Einsatzgruppe leader. The idea of gassing with carbon monoxide is linked to Nebe. He had passed out drunk in his car in a garage. He left it running and almost died. Supposedly, that's where the T-4 technicians got the idea.
SS chief following due process?! Hitler in this timeline must have eliminated a lot of the old SS officers so that the Holocaust was kept in the dark.
higher than average. Why these psychologically normal, intelligent men went on to perpetrate some of the worst crimes in the history of humanity is a question for the ages. What I glean from it is this...in terrible times-economic depression, political instablity, national uncertainty-normal even highly intelligent individuals can do horrible, unspeakable things...
I guess we can say that some matters of the human heart can not be changed through education. If you educate a thief or a murderer, all you do is make a smarter thief or murderer.
"For the most part, Doctors and civil servants simply did their jobs. Some merely followed orders, others worked for the glory of science." -Dr. John Heller, Director of the Public Health Service's Division of Venereal Disease. From one of the men involved in the Tuskegee Study of Untreated Syphilis. These were American Doctors and... it wasn't wartime. Also, none were charged with criminal misdoings, let alone crimes against humanity.
yeah my dad went to berlin on his motorbike (with all his motorcycle crew lol) and was asking directions for the bunker and got the cold shoulder from every single german he come across, their so bitter about it even now
Yeah, there isn't anything to see really, except a sign showing it was the site of the Fuhrerbunker, the site is now a car park and residential tower block area, completely unremarkable. I think they purposely built over it to avoid it becoming a 'shrine' for Nazi sympathisers.
I wonder how many Nazis, SS-Officers, etc were actually sorry for what happened. I'm almost afraid to do the research and find out. I'm afraid the number will be around 1%
No one can say. However, several interesting and frightening revelations came out of the Nuremburg Trials. The Nuremburg trails were held in 1946...all of the top, still breathing Nazis (Goring etc.) were put on trial. During the course of the hearing, all of these men were given psychological evaluations. And it was discovered that not only were none of them crazy or mentally impaired, but they were, on average, very intelligent. I believe the average IQ was 123...which is quite a bit
Thanks for uploading these clips. This movie is not available on DVD or through iTunes.

I'm not a nazi but all I can say at 5.34 is "good job SSer" cause the man in brown coat killed 2 innocent people so he get what he deserved
killermachinemaggot 1 year ago
At around 6.30 Rutger's Dutch accent is very clear. I am a Dutchman.. trust me: I know what we sound like.
He really puts some emotion in that voice but because of that emotion the accent breaks out.
