If you have a good internet connection and a High end (Professional) Lan Card than you could reach a speed of 6Gb/s. but your right, moving 6gb in 1 second will probably kill ur machine (Freeze) as the average consumer PC's are bottleneck-ed somewhere

The maths goes a bit swirly when calculating small (100bytes or so) files.. ie a fraction of a MB per second, you get an anomaly in the data rate. Try for a big file 700Mb+ to get a realistic measurement.
