No I straightened my hair before hand. I don't want to give you the wrong impression. No perm, just flat ironed it first, but I'll still do the tutorial. When I did the bantu knot out on my natural hair, I had some major major shrinkage. It was pretty, but I seriously looked like Shirley Temple. Noone liked it lol.

Do you think that going back and forth between naturally curly and straightened hair could be causing the recent hair problems though? There are lots of YouTubers who've straightened their hair responsibly but still experience problems because they said it weakened their hair over time.

Who knows? I never rule anything completely out, but all I can do is I try to be as responsible about it as possible. I have a really nervous habit of literally finding rougher spots in my hair and breaking them off by snapping the strands. This happens when my hair is curly, but not when it's straight. I think that has a lot to do with how my hair is at the moment with all the stress I've been going through. So for now, I'm just giving myself and my hair a break from stress.

Thanks, pumpkin! Everything is going much much better now. I've tried knots on my natural hair and while it came out nice, oh em gee I looked like Shirly Temple. I had more shrinkage than when I don't do one. My nail polish is Rich and Famous by China Glaze.

how do you moisturize your hair when it's straightened? Like do you just use oil? because moisturizers with water will sorta shrink you hair right?

I use the profectiv breakage cream stuff, the original yellow kind. I take a little and rub it on my hair, focusing on the bottom half. Creams and milks are a good way to keep hair moisturized while straight. Check out Karen's Body Beautiful and Qhemet's Biologic. I like using their Burdock Root cream too.

That's really a rude thing to comment, one of the biggest pluses about being natural is the styling versatility so it's not her fault that you feel that you look like crap transitioning is hard i know i did it but how you look and how you feel about how you look is completely up to you. Good Luck in your transition and don't give up.

Love the hair!!! Gotta question for ya. I've been wearing my hair straightened this summer for a lot of the same reasons u mentioned in the vid, but I'm SO worried about damaging my hair. I'm wondering how often u heat straighten now that u're going through this straight stage? Also, how have you adjusted your deep conditioning/protein treatments to meet the needs of your straight hair? Thank u in advance doll :). I really appreciate your input!

I do it once a week on hair day lol. When my hair is straight I do a lot more protein stuff. I use my Aphogee 2 minute reconstructor and then I moisturize afterwards. I focus a lot more on the general health of my hair because I compensating for the heat exposure.
