whats the difference between heirloom and open pollinated seeds?

let's see... my sense of heirloom is that they are seeds which have been passed down from generation to generation and have become very important to a certain climate or community. Open pollinated simply implies that the seeds you are using came from plants which were pollinated "out in the open" and in the midst of a "natural" ecosystem - (ie. not in laboratories)

Im reading John Jeavons how to grow more veges now. My new pinch involves finding a sustained medium for growing starters in. I dont want to use peat because its not sustained. Thanks a lot!

are you kidding me!!! i was searching for instructions for double digging a garden bed. it will be my first garden and im so excited. any way, i came across this video, (i only bought OP seeds) and noticed in the back the "salt spring seeds), who i am purchasing my order from!! what a small and wonderful world!
