if you want it to freeze a little faster put super hot water,my mom used to be a zamboni driver...if you want it better put a blade on to it will chizeel off the first layer of ice.
@TheWizz82 Thanks Wiz. i have made a lot of changes since that video and the rink keeps getting better. One day i will put another Video together but still too busy playing shinney.
It is the best little community rink which I maintain out in the wilds of Muskoka ontario. crushed gravel surface. 50x100. Flood lights. No tarps. No boarder. I pack snow down at first snow fall then apply a bit of water at a time with a 1 1/2 fire hose from an old well on site. In a few days i have a rink. The zamboni works great for making a smooth finish. I have a new one but haven't had time to video it yet. Might make a rink vid one of these days too. Too busy playin shinney now!!
I did ditch the sled in my new model however i did not use wheels but i might down the road. Trying to keep cost down and $4 ski's from salvation army make great as runners!
I did not use a liner. You don't need one. What works best for me is to pack down the snow, then apply very light coats of water with a hose every few hours for a day. This gives me a great base to start with. You can build up the banks the same way and the rink will level itself naturally. I may put a six inch plywood and poly barrier at one low spot to keep the water in, and extend the life of my rink in the spring.
I am not sure what you mean by side's of the line.

I think it would be easier if you put the barrel in hand wagon with wheels so you dont have to drag it

You should ditch the sled, and put it on a peice of wood with wheels, it would be much easier to pull

How thick is the ice?
bigcasino215 2 years ago
I never really measured but I would guess i have it 6-8 inches. We had some real bad warm spells and the ice never melted all the way through.
