Metropolitan Anthimos is absolutely correct.
Ancient Macedonia is the area surrounding Pella and 100% contained within modern Greece.
Phillip conqured ancient Paeonia(which contains Vardaskas) and Thrace(which contains Bulgaria).At no point in time did the kings of ancient Macedonia rename the conquered areas so that their geographical area is included by the word Macedonia.
Only under Roman control the areas of Macedonia, Paeonia and Thrace,among others ,were made part of one Macedonia.
