Lisa, marry me. I love string theory too; of course i'm not as smart as you though. the math goes beyond me. and i've taken up to calc 3. to me it's a turn on when a woman is smarter than me and is studying string theory.
lol, I think i'm in love! <3 Lisa is amazing, i've always dreamed about discussing abstract theoretical physics with my significant other, but the dream always seems so impossible because i always seem to get a strange look when she asks me what i'm looking at in my telescope and i reply; i'm trying to find, among other things, black holes or clues about the 11th dimension or an imprint of a string or brane from when the universe was very small. Lol, i'll probably never find these things anyway.
Interesting video! Could these extra dimensions be formed by the arrow of time? If time was unfolding at the quantum level of the atoms this would make time the Hidden Variable. We know that time is a variable because we have time dilation when an object accelerates towards the speed of light and also around objects of great mass.
We all should work to further mankind, no point in pointing at scientists. FYI only a minuscule fraction of physicists will ever have something named after them.
And what do you even mean by competetive? CERN is one of the biggest collaborative efforts in human history. Thousands of people working towards the same goal.
And BTW, without CERN we wouldn't have the internet. How's that for that for something positive.
Not really the same topic, but all these examples don't don't show the competitive nature of scientists, but that of politicians.
Also, Children in Africa could be saved any given day. It is also a purely political issue.
And yeah, I am. The internet, just like CCTV cameras or Teflon, or medical X-rays, MRIs or hundreds of other essential technologies are spin-offs of scientific projects.
Work at CERN may inform us about fundamental aspects of nature we had no idea about.
I'm sure you would have told the guy that invented the wheel (combustion engine, electric current, electromagnetism, nuclear fission, nuclear fusion, relativity, quantum mechanics, super conductivity) to stop fooling around and get on with something that seems more immediately useful, but in the end these sort of things do turn out to be vital for society and stopping them is ultimately very short sighted.
you do no something with absolutey certainty in science. so it is only serious to use the word "maybe". Dare I wonder what we could learn from the unusual and unidentified aerial phenomena that has been and currently is being seen in our skies. There's speculation tht they are of other dimensions.
forget many dimensions and people "searching" for them. I really doubt if even a few string "theorists" can solve a simple graduate level physics problem in 3D, let alone the many many complex problems that exist in physics.
But it does help to throw fancy words so the public thinks you are smart and you can be on charlie rose!

These assumed "extra dimensions" are so small that they are not visible, or are virtual dimensions. The idea of "extra dimensions" are stuck in mathematical theory and cannot be tested or proven scientifically as other theories. Maybe this Hadron Collider will provide some proof. Maybe not.

Lisa, here is one advise if you are reading this: get away from media and concentrate on your physics. don't waste time modeling on tv. you can be on tv everyday once you have mode significant contribution to science.
ok ,what you do is take in everything that has anything to do with anything, and you then you sleep on it,and you have to remmember your dreams, then ,you run around centrel park or harverd ,w ,then ,when you get an idea like you have crystals in your peneal gland, then you know you soul is from a protonic energy, thus, life living.ehem

Oh baby! When you talk that way it causes a reaction in my crotch area that is similar to 2 protons colliding together. The heat is so intense! Now say Van der Graaf Generator real s-l-o-w please!
i support the idea of the string theory and i think there are more dimensions maybe not 11 i think they can not be counted, this machine can give us a lot of information about the creation of the universe and i hope it realy do but in my opinion its pointless because there are many other reactions that couse cause the extiontion of our universe, who knows! nobody should play to be god remember chernoville
This woman doesn't vocalize clearly enough, and she speaks with a really low voice, making it pretty hard for me to make out her words and thus understand her.

forget many dimensions and people "searching" for them.

Her mumbling makes this video difficult to understand, even for someone who knows something about the subject.

i support the idea of the string theory and i think there are more dimensions maybe not 11 i think they can not be counted, this machine can give us a lot of information about the creation of the universe and i hope it realy do but in my opinion its pointless because there are many other reactions that couse cause the extiontion of our universe, who knows! nobody should play to be god remember chernoville

This woman doesn't vocalize clearly enough, and she speaks with a really low voice, making it pretty hard for me to make out her words and thus understand her.
