It's incredible to see how even the almost too talented Pletnev, with his phenomenal technique and dazzling artistry, can't manage the last minute without hitting several wrong notes.
Massive imagination, really...too much, and getting over obsessed with eccentric detail, lacking grand passion, too dry, and yet fantastic pianism, doing EXACTLY what he decides he wants, absolutely gripping, even if one is not agreeing with it all.
@NOSEhow2LIV, totally agree with u, he misses the forest for the trees, so to speak and that's why I prefer Maurizio Pollini for this piece where he invest it with a passionate intensity as opposed to Pletnev's Slavic coolness despite the latter's renowned virtuosity.
