I measured the width of each book that moves, removed the pages (in most cases), cut a piece of wood the same width as the book, and glued it in place of the pages (along with a wood screw to reinforce it). If you look at the part that the hoop hits when it passes, it's essentially the exact same thing on the book side. If you were to remove the book from the guide and look at it sideways, it would look like the letter "H."
