  • Norwegians' TRUE brothers and sisters are Icelandics! and Swedes are our cousins! Denmark were cowardess rats who took advantage of our vulnerability after the plague, however we managed to negotiate all the oil from you when you showed up drunk at the meeting HAHAHA sweet revenge! YOUR ONLY OIL IS BACON GREASE!

  • Vikingskog - i know the history my friend, and i dont give a f..., i just trying to point out that who care's about who own who and all that shit.. yes maybe not 1000 years ago, but its was just a way to put it, im just tired of all this "fighting" against each other about that time, its long ago and just forget it already, nothing we can do about it, and now your norwegians are free and thats how it should be and its great, 3 beautiful country's.. PEACE NOW, KEEP TOGETHER BROTHERS AND SISTERS..

  • Shot the F... up every body.. whats wrong with you, Denmark, sweden and Norway are all brothers and sisters, we should love each other and keep together instead of fighting, "who own who and all that shit doesnt matter today, the wars and all that shit is more then 1000 years old, who care's, i dont, im Danish, im swedish and norwegian, im just born in Denmark and call me Danish, afterall after all these wars we scandinavians are all mixed together, so let us call each other scandics, be proud

  • @DennisTP 1000years? Learn ur history man, Norway was under denmark till 1814, and then Norway was under sweden untill 1905, even my grandfather learned danish at school instead of Norwegian, because there was no Norwegian-written language established in the school yet, since denmark had forced us to use danish for so long.

  • @DennisTP I couldn't agree more. I live in the US and I have Scandinavian roots Ive traced my heritage back to the Vikings around 900 - 1000 AD

  • Comment removed

  • could someone describe the tuning of this lyre. i recently built a lyre and i have found a zillion different tunings but this one sounds most applicable. thanks.

  • Jag älskar det....tack!

  • Does annyone know how many strings this lyre has?

  • Drømte mig en drøm i nat

  • this is fantastic to hear, thanks for sharing, have some Norwegian in my blood line so it's great to listen to

  • This is the oldest song documented in danish history.

  • @byf43 How far does this date back. I'm just curious

  • @WHWrooolz

The documentation is from 1300 something I think. However the music is most likely a lot older. Unfortunately no viking music has been preserved. Archeologists can only guess what it may have sounded like based on the instruments found.

  • @byf43 makes me proud to have Scandanavian roots. (Swedish and Finnish). the viking clutlre is so... unique. cheers from Canada ;)

  • @CelticWizard113 sorry to tell you, but finns or swedes never wen't or settled in canada. your roots are norwegian.

  • @cuzgandalfgothigh99 oh, i didnt explain very well! My Great Great Grandfather - this Swedish sailor, married my Great (x3) Grandmother, who was Irish - and lived in Sunderland, England, which is known for being a port. They had a son in England, and later moved to Canada. Sorry i did not clarify. The other odd thing was that my Great (x3) Grandfather, this Swedish man, claimed HIS father was Finish, but it shows my GREAT (x5) Grandafather, HIS grandfather was also Swedish. - thats how we came.

  • @CelticWizard113 why, that explains it :3

  • @cuzgandalfgothigh99 yeah, i wasnt clear that My Grandmother's Parents were both born in England, and her father's father, to be specific, was the Swedish Sailor who like i said married the Irish woman, my Great Great Great Grandmother. Cheers!

  • @cuzgandalfgothigh99 and i just realied i said "They had a son in England, and later moved to Canada", My Great Great Great Grandfather actually died while in Pennsylvania whlie he was working on a ship.

  • Its an old danish melodi to a song called "jeg drømte mig en drøm i nat" or "i dreamed me a dream last night"

  • The song is not "Danish". As far as I know, its oldest source is a Norwegian poem.

  • No, its an old dansih song from around the year 1200. Its the oldest known written melody in denmark. Part of the lyrics for the song is also known...

  • You're right, I looked it up. I must've thought about something else.

  • Denmark is still excisting with one of the oldest kingdoms in the world and can be traced back to Gorm The Old who was King of Denmark from c. 900 to c. 940. And then i need to remind you that Norway was given as a "present" from Danmark to Sweden in 1814, and then Norway became independent from Sweden in 1905. Basicly Norweegians was ruled under the danish crown so i doubt it is at all consideret norweegian since Norway was part of danish teritorry back then around the year 1200 its danish!.

  • Norway wasn't in a union with Denmark before 1380, so if thats the case, i'd say its norwegian

  • If it was from Norway then it would be Norwegian obviously, the union doesnt matter in that way.

Its enough the damn danes stole our historical artifacts, and the icelandic ones aswell.

But this one is from denmark yes, so it is danish.

In total though Norway got far far more ballads and folkmusic then denmark have.

While NoedskovLarsen brag about denmark, Norway was a complete kingdom from year 872. During the norgesvelde period we were one of the most powerfull in europe.

  • It was first after the blackdeath plague(we got hit far harder then denmark and sweden) that the greedy danes took advantage of our then weak position, many entire valleys was deserted here because all the people in many regions had all died of the plague.

Before the plague during Norgesvelde-period (at it hights during Håkon Håkonsson) the danes wouldnt dream of attacking us.

After King Knut they never had a chance.

  • NoedskovLarsen is apperantly one of those arrogant danes with no historical knowledge what so ever, with the common way of thinking "Denmark owns, Norway is weak and sucks",

i guess they feel the need to be agressive some way considering their country lack the size and impressive nature Norway has, not to mention the language.

Its best just to ignore danes like this, ive grown tired of trying to lecture history for them as they are too stupid to even listen or read the litterature.

  • aha so it is danish. Too bad the bad the black death killed off 2/3 of the population and made us weak against invaders. We should go to Denmark and pillage back our artifacts.

  • there is a difference between being danish territory and being occupied, besides norway has been a land for a long time, but have been occupied by both sweden and denmark, besides norwegians had the most vikings, more then sweden and denmark so shut it.

attend a few viking festivals and talk to people who live for the viking age

  • @NoedskovLarsen

  • super : ]-|

  • Flott :)

  • very cool
