WELL SAID "erwigfilms"; spot on. Another favourite for me of Jelly's is 'The Chant'. What wonderful melodies, cross-beats and counter rhythms. A brilliant musician, no doubt about it, and fortunate are we to have his compositions and performances still so alive today.
@skimdit shut up asshole. a lot of music we have today hardcore or not has nothing to do with being miserable or tattooing yourselves. people like you sicken me. such an ignorant one sided view of things
I think it's time for a movie about Jelly Roll and his side of the story. It'd be interesting. And Louis and Basie. Serious movies, about their lives and how they got to their music. Not maudlin but to show their love of music. We could see the difference that way sailorvet. It's time.
Does anyone notice the vast difference between today's Black mnusicians and those of today. The old guys did not look threatening and their music was much more skillfully crafted, Thes men were really musicians and the modern black is merely a pounder and somewhat self centered in deep hostility.
are you joking? black musicians scared the shit out of white people back in the day! that's why the only way white people would listen to early rock and rock was by listening to covers by much safer, cornier white bands.
I love these guys, and this style of music. This is the jazz that i like, which is alot like Louis A played. Thanks so much for posting. I would like to find out more about the Red Hot Peppers.
Great tune, great band. I especially like how, at one point right in the middle of the usual pattern of eighth notes, the entire band comes together for two whole-note chords--very slick! It makes you sort of look up and ask, what was *that*!
Done with great affection! Thanks, man.

I read Jellyroll Morton's biography ("Mr.Jellyroll" I believe was the title)
and thought at the time that someone should make a movie of this.
Still waiting.

Music this old should be royalty free to use for background music on videos. Does that sound right? Love the music.

Ive been learning about Jelly Roll and Jazz in general. He's a creole musician and claims to be the father of jazz.

Morton: Man, c'mon let's catch that boat, we'll be late!
Friend: Oh, we've got plenty time to catch that boat. I gotta get another half.
Morton: Get back at me, don't even know how t' carry a mule without lettin' his legs hang down, ya little tadpole!
