Love your stuff Mattbacca your the best 2 hell with all the haterz! do u have tutorials that i can buy and study and where can i buy your star wars art especially onces in episode 12 13 u rock
were is season two all of the sudden you got tatoos not tring to be ofensive or anything its just i mised out on every thing else p.s you should get a big tatoo on your head thats sais i love star wars
Hey Matt, how come I struggle so much getting smooth shading like you do with a pencil? I use the side, but sometimes it puts down hard scratches (at the start) and it never looks as soft as yours. Mine lacks the realism pop that yours has. Any tips or paper suggestions?
Thanks for that fantastic video once again Matt, come to Australia! XD
hey, matt. that painting of Leia is impeccable. also, the video was cheesy, but i enjoyed it. i think it's nice to have something other than a "how to" video. well done. 5/5 keep up the great work. oh, and it's nice to see that you actually respond to these comments.
You are one of the best star wars artists and I really enjoy your work... but whyyyyyy bother with the super cheesy acting clips? It's kind of ruining your reputation in my eyes. Again, love your work, but the videos are getting painful.
I've never seen such talent overshadowed by such douchebaggery. It's hard to get through them when I can actually hear the hairs on the back of my neck rise. I'd travel back in time and murder the marketing guy who gave you the idea to market yourself in this way. It almost makes me want to buy a Christopher Hart book. Almost.
Haha! While it's clear that this kind of marketing doesn't gel with you, to say it's been working out just fine for me would be an understatement.
While I would never think of murdering anybody, the last person I would murder is the guy who gave this idea- because that person was me.
Further- these videos aren't designed as a tool to market me. They're drawing and painting tutorials, with a (hopeful) comedic and entertaining twist to keep viewers interested. I'm having fun with it. Sue me.
I'm betting he's a blast to work with. You guys look like you had fun. And I've already stated that the man has talent. If an artist is gonna put himself out there, he's gotta take the criticism.
And Matt, you're just talking semantics.
I know you have a lot of fans who love these videos. But many of your contemporaries just get the douche chills from them. They're passed around Facebook and mocked relentlessly.
This isn't hate. It's advice. You can have fun and still be classy.
I saw them filming the part where the Princess Leias gang beat Matt (though it was someone else). I briefly met him the next day after seeing his how-too session.
wow people on youtube are quite picky. This is just how matt does his videos, they're a nice break from the straight forward videos with the monotone voices talking about circles and guidelines for 20 minutes. If you don't like it go crawl back to expertvillage.
To those that don't like the amount of tutorial in the video:
RELAX. Thousands of dollars are spent out of my own pocket to produce these, and you get to watch them for FREE.
The reason why there is an admitted short of tutorial in this one is just the way things shook out. Originally this was supposed to be just one video, but the time clocked in at 13 minutes- too long for YouTube and so it was split. As it turns out there's more tutorial in Part 1 and more skit in Part 2. Sue me.
id see wy this video has such a low rating. I found it to be very help full ( evan tho i cant do the air brush stuff) and fun to watch. idk wy every one is saying that you only gave a min of teaching the art stuff. I found it to be great! nice job 5/5!
I like how you promote yourself, but you should start promoting you as an artist not as film maker... Next time I'm expecting 1min of fun and 5 min of art-technique or something connected with art if you don't mind?
I didn't know there was a rule on how to promote yourself.
And these vids aren't designed to promote me- but teach how to draw Star Wars in an entertaining way.

Man, I love your technique and your style.
But these gags.... man they're really hard to take. Just not funny...
Why dont you just do a tutorial.
If you want to insert some merchandising in it, make it quick. Boring advertising speaks against your sponsor.

You can't call it marketing, then immediately deny that it's marketing.
I would never murder anybody either. Then again, I can't time travel.
SydneyLeach 2 years ago
You're taking both of those sentences out of context, sweetheart.
"These videos aren't *designed* to market *me*."
That doesn't mean don't market something else, or that they could still market me inadvertently, but weren't designed to.

GarryBoulder 2 years ago 9
I actually met Matt. He is a really nice guy. Very appreciative of compliments. He also takes time to look at your work for Insite and critique.
raddreamstar 2 years ago
Any artist who makes a video, makes a video about themsleves. They open themselves to the world, and get critiqued by people like you.
I try to show more about the process than just the drawing- like working with models, using photo reference, etc. Many people want to see that.
I also have a habit of poking fun at myself. Getting knocked into a pool? Beat up by girls? Making jokes at your own expense is hardly narcissist.
Regardless, more videos w/ less humor on the way, so stick around.
mattbusch 2 years ago
Come on, Matt. Can't you just make an actual "How to" video for once? The rest of the stuff isn't that funny.

Oh no worries... I am completely relaxed. :-)
Your videos have proven to be both very informative and very entertaining. Just seems to be more entertainment of late than information...
BUT
I would gladly accept that than to have you not make any more videos at all. You just have us all spoiled with the quality of what you do. :-)
As for thousands of dollars spent... um okay. ;-)
