Also, there are many things we cannot prove but only experience. For example, I asked a friend who is atheist why he is married, if there is no impurical scientific proof that his wife loves him, I asked him why he loves history if history cannot be proven, I asked him why he believes science, as science itself admits that there is no such thing as "proof" (all scientists now say "data points to" instead of "it is proven that"), is chocolate sweet? prove it. Water wet? prove it. It cannot.
I think you are an excellent speaker and give great points, very much in common with Thomas Aquinas' explanation of God's self-existence. However, there is still a question that many philosophers ponder. Does self-existence mean dependency in Himself? Or does it mean He is dependent on nothing? I would love to hear your approach to this, Dr. Tabatabai. My respects to you.
@chedacfc13 Thank you very much for your kind comments, may Allah bless you and reward you.
God is not dependent on anything rather everything is depending on God. His existence comes out of Himself and not from an outside cause, meaning that he was always existing and there is no such time where God was not existing.
Someone asked Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib, when did your God come into being? Imam Ali replied, tell me when he was not existing so that I can tell you when he came into being?!
