  • i want my v8 to blow the air out the back, should i install it like the one here in the video???

  • My V8 fan started making noise recently...I had bought a fan before to replace the stock one for better air flow but was not able to remove the v8 from my mobo (the base screws are very difficult to get to and I was stripping the heads trying to loosen them). Can you get to the black screws (on the side) that you were showing without removing the entire unit from the case? I would imagine you would need to remove the RAM at least.

  • could ram vengeance install in first channel on the motherboard? mine v6 gt can't do that.

  • Is it working to my socket 1155?!?!? :>

  • its have V8 engine with 400 HP ^^

  • i use the v8 with a noctua fan :)

  • i work at cooler master and i get to mess with all the stuff there woot woot!

v6gt is full of win when you swap out the fans for red led fans

  • @grouchy909 Would you be able to see them through the housing.

  • @WestCoastMods yes the led lights are inside the fan and look like a x or something like that. we carry green and blue fans also. the v6 gt lets you change the cooler light i think so it matches

  • it using a CM sickle flow ? lol

  • @Ptro001 what's wrong with sickle flow's??

  • @MakrisProductions95 they are so...... mainstream... its so surprising its being used on a high end CPU cooler, why not a Blademaster or Excalibur with red LEDs?

  • @Ptro001 man the v8 is like 3 years old what did you expect?

  • Great video bro!, that thing is HUGE!

  • does the V8 work on a socket AM3?

  • @xblackhawk91x Yes they do, i have an AMD Phenom II 1090T 6X and im able to OC my CPU to 3.8Ghz. i made some mods on my v8, i replaced the OEM fan and got a San Ace 120. I made some tests. with the case closed, i got max cpu temp of 63C then i removed the right side panel 2 let the back of the mobo be exposed to ambient temp and i got 58C, then i placed a fan over the back of the mobo (where the CPU is) and i got 53C. so i suggest you to do the same if you want to OC with this thing.

  • dude, ur awesome xD

  • @moner65 Thanks bro

  • Is that a mid or full tower? I want to get a new cooler but am worried about space.

  • @EcstasyPC Full tower...Thermaltake Armor Plus

  • cool! nice music .... I hate when all known a song because of guitar hero

  • @julianomaxter LOL...thanks bro

  • @julianomaxter oh this song is nice, i made 300k in guitar hero xD lol jk

  • lol go from completely installed cooler to holding fan. steps dude, show your steps

  • @Bmacrae01 Are you serious dude, you need to see me use a Allen wrench and a screwdriver. I showed you where the screws where, didn't know I need to show you what a screwdriver is and how to use it.

  • i guess by doing this moding its going to void the warranty

  • @sk8rdude985 No as long as you keep the original fan, there is no issue with the warranty. I used a different fan for ths mod.

  • how deep/wide can the replacement fan bee?

  • @vpklotar Has to be a standard 120mm fan....hope that helps

  • @WestCoastMods ok, thanks

  • Awesome video. One question though. Were you able to take the fan and "plate" out of the cooler WHILE it was attached to the motherboard? Im thinking about changing my fan to a non-LED one because I don't like the glow, but if requires taking the whole heatsink out, I'll just pass.

  • @CaptainWeston Yes you can remove it while it's installed on the CPU. The screws in the back are a little hard to get to, but it can be done.... thats how I removed it for the video...it may be easier to get to the two back screws if you remove your ram first though.

    Good Luck

    LazyMan

  • @WestCoastMods Awesome! thanks for the quick response!

  • @CaptainWeston No problem bro, happen to be taking a break from modding...working on 2 vids for this weekend.

  • One question: Is the fan on the V8 temperature controlled, or is it only manually controlled by the fan controller?

  • @EatU4Breakfast The V8 comes with a speed controller that you can mount in a expansion slot...I did not use that and hooked it up to the Rheobus fan controller.

  • @WestCoastMods Right, tnx :)

  • can you plz tell me where did you got that ram from how much where them

  • BEWARE: While I was holding the cooler in my hand, I dropped it and it landed on my toe; My toe broke :D

Pro's: It still worked perfectly after it fell :D

  • @airsoftguy85rocks wow, thats a freak accident. I hope you're toe is okay

I don't know whats worst a broken toe or a broken cooler....I think I would take the broken cooler...

  • I just received this cam and rewatching your vid to see how to remove the front plate :P nice vid btw

  • @ClayCGP Hope this vid helps.

  • @WestCoastMods sure did, thanks alot man, you're awesome

btw for the lights effect you wanted, I was just wondering, what if you add up more space between the fan and the mesh. Just making the mesh about 3mm bigger then the fan so you can then stick the L.E.D.s to the mesh itself instead of the fan. I know it's not that easy to manage but I believe it's worth the time it takes since it will get probably the thing you were looking for :D

  • that not glue :D its soft thing not vibrate

  • @walther89 oh ,he must be talking about the foam on the backside of the cover plate to reduce vibration. Thanks for clearing that up, I had no idea what he was talking about..lol

  • what up with the glue on the fan does that need to be replaced

  • @asus3571 What glue?

  • @asus3571 I think I figured out what you were talking about, It's not glue what you see, it's a foam material on the backside of the faceplate to reduce vibration.

    Cheers

    LazyMan :-)

  • @WestCoastMods yea bro just wanted to say thanks for the vid as im swapping the fan in mine out for a noctua i hope that solves my prob for some reason when i turn the reostate up it starts to rattle i think i knocked the fan off balalance when cleaning it one day thanks again bro

  • nice watch man

  • @dsmcraze lol, never every lost time.

  • I see that you have fins on your ram so if you were to install more memory onto your board, would there be any problems with it touching the V8?

  • @azary1010 No problem, I have had 12Gb's installed to see if there was any better performance, so I know for certain that they will fit.

    Cheers

    LazyMan :-)

  • Hey, I have a question. Will this cooler fit in a HAF 932 with an ASUS P6X58D Premium?

  • @AllAroundBang I don't know for sure...You're better off Google it or asking on a forum.

  • @WestCoastMods Well, looking at the customer-submitted pics on the case on Amazon, I see some have it installed. I am just a little worried because of the size of the fan.. its REALLY thick...

  • @AllAroundBang yes any cooler will fit in a haf932 the mobo is what you need to worry about but 99% sure it will fit on the board you referenced

  • Ha, 2 part vid, ya ends up being 10 parts. but I don't care, I like to watch longer, vids that take lot parts , to show what, and how it going to be done, and I like when the vid is 10, or, 15 min long, more INFO the better,& the better chance we don't messed when we go to try that out.

  • Hi, are you useing vista 64 bit? Are all the drivers working ok?

    Thanks

  • @chrisi1418 Using Win 7 64bit. Occasionally there are some driver issues, but for the most part it has been okay

  • hey man good upload, was wondering how to correctly dismantle my v8 to replace the fan. GW mod looks nice

  • @Yamo916 Thanks bro

  • Does the V8 need to be detached from the motherboard in order to remove the fan and cover plate?

  • @fleedar No, but it does make it much easier, as there are two small screws that support the fan at the base of the cooler. If your looking at the V8 from the front right side up, they are on the right hand side one near the top and one near the bottom. You may need to remove your memory to access these screws. Then of course you have the 4 allen type screws on the front. Use the allen head tool provide with the V8 to remove these.

    Hope this helps

    LazyMan :-)

  • Lots of free time on your hands to dismantle a working CPU cooler for the purpose of changing the color of its LEDs. :-)

  • That funny that you say that, because I wished I had more free time.

I guess you need to watch more of my vids to know that with my 50-60hr week regular job and my family life it leaves me very little time to work on custom rigs.

    Cheers

    LazyMan :-)

  • can't believe I've never found any of your videos before. You're very thorough & excellent video quality. Really enjoyed the video, thinking about picking this cooler up since my Zalman CNPS 9700 just isn't doing the job anymore. Tried remounting & switching from zalman paste to arctic silver 5 but still higher temps than I would like.

  • Well I'm glad you found me, glad you enjoy the vids too. At 3.8Mhz I get 36-40C at idle and 59-65C at load. running prime95 for 24hrs. Not the greatest, but no that bad either.

    Cheers

    LazyMan :-)

  • PSU calculator said I need at least 300 W with GTX 260 and a phenom II X2 550.... I read a test and they said the GTX 260 at 100% load needs 300W itself , so Im a bit confused... btw Im using a standard crapy 500W PSU .... when I play Crysis it lags and the framerate sucks.... I think my PSU´s the problem....can anyone help me ?

  • Well unfortunately the calculator doesn't take into consideration load, so it is just a guideline at normal use. however where you read that a 260 will consume 300w at full load seems a little high as the top models demand between 110 and 270 watts from the power supply. But I could be wrong.

PSU are cheap IMO, so if you upgrade your PSU get the best quality/largest one you can afford.

Why do you think it's your PSU thats causing problems with Cyrsis?

    LazyMan :-)

  • Someone can help me? I have a dual core e7400 and a 9800gt low power. Can i put a v8 with my corsair tx650w or need more power? Please leave a comment or aswer to my email andrecoelho6@gmail.con

  • You should be fine, you can run a PSU calculator to be sure. Google PSU calculator

    Cheers

    LazyMan :-)

  • @Kikaco1212 Fans generally don't take that much power. Also, you should be careful to make sure your case fits it.

  • So its possible to change the fan and get more cooling.

  • Absolutely, I change the stock fan to a CM R4 which produced more CFM at a lower dba. But there are better fans out there which would also work.

  • you can get it off with a screwdriver through the top

  • Thanks, bro, since tweaking with the V8 for as long as I did I am a pro know. Actually it's real easy, but when in doubt take your time and be cautious, thats how I felt the first time, now I just pop it off like a cap on a beer bottle. lol

    Cheers

    LazyMan :-)

  • I am curious you by chance tested this cooler vs a Xigmatek S1283?

Also I am curious how well is the cooler doing temps wise on your 920 and whats your overclock voltage?

I bought my old man a I5 and a V8 was curious between the two coolers which is better and the temps its doing to a hotter running 920.

Also how hard is it to clean? I hear its a big dust collector.

  • No I haven't tested it with any other coolers, but i can tell you this from experience, it is not the best cooler out there. I chose this one because it was an above average cooler and it went with my theme.

I have not OC the Black Widow yet but at idle it is running at about 33C

As far as dust I haven't really noticed, will keep a lookout for that.

    Cheers

    LazyMan :-)

  • I see thanks for the response.

Was a good $40 (with 1156 bracket) sale on BF so bought it for a I5 1156 build I am doing so was curious.

    Thanks for the response :)

  • you say this is not the best cooler? what ones are better do you think? I have the phenom II x4 965. I need a good cooler cos i get high temps lol XD cheers

  • The V8 is a good cooler, but IMO there are a few others that may be better

    Noctua NH-D14 Cooler

    Thermalright TRUE Copper Ultra-120 eXtreme

    Prolimatech Megahalems

    Just to mention a few

    hope this helps

    LazyMan :-)

  • That's OCZ reaper you have next to it right? I'm thinking about getting the v8 when I buy a Phenom ii 720 :/

  • No it's Corsair Dominator Ram

  • im thinking about getting the v8. how heavy is it?

  • The V8 is 865grams

Pretty heavy, but not the heaviest.

    Cheers

    LazyMan :-)

  • Hey whats the best CPU cooler to overclock a Dual core 3.0 ghz AMD cpu? Im at 3.6 ghz atm but want to push it to 3.8. I get only 35c for temps after playing CoD4 for 30 mins. Around 20-22 idle. Let me know ty! 5/5

  • WaterCooling! But if you want to stick to air try the Noctua line of coolers or the Prolimatech Megahalems coolers.

Not sure what socket you have so check to see if either of these support your particular socket.

    Cheers

    LazyMan :-)

  • why not the v8? isnt copper better then metal for cooling?

  • The V8 is a good cooler, but you asked my opinion on what I thought was the best cooler. I went with the V8 not only because it was a good cooler, but it fit my theme. This is a temp. cooler for me anyway, plan on going WC'ing eventually. Plan on doing something unique, still in the very early design phase.

    LazyMan :-)

  • try the V10 its insane!!

  • very nice indeed :D

  • Thanks Bro!

  • I remember that song from guitar hero lol.

  • The song is Barracuda by Heart.

  • The song was in Guitar Hero. Its not from Guitar hero. just for the record. lol

  • Ummmm Okay?

  • did that fan on the case come with the computer case? (the orange transparent one)

  • No those are Xigmatek, great fans!

  • i rilly dont like the coolermaster V8 more of a Zalman Persion but still good vidoe man

  • I also own a Zalman, and as far as cooling they are very close, but after having the Zalman in my current PC, I wanted to try something different.

  • those tabs

you could use little pieces of credit card or something like shims

    whats the laser pointer for

  • Thanks bro, now that I have taken it off and put it on a couple of dozen times, it is east now. I'm a pro! LOL

    Cheers Bro!

    LazyMan :-)

  • Oh the laser pointer, I have used it in some of my vids.

  • what case is that?

  • That is the Thermaltake ArmorPlus Case

    Excellent case, highly recommend!

  • What type of fan is that on the back? Orange and black... That would look good in my case!

  • Those are XIGMATEK XLF-F1453 140mm not only will they look good in your case they are very quiet at 16 dBA at 63.5 CFM.

  • Cool m8.

I think you're the most crazy man ive seen in pc mods =) You just cant let anything the way it is. Everything gets its brush of some modding and better look from you.

Love your vids and enjoy watching them !

Thanks for bringing them up on web lazyman ! :)

  • Thanks Bro for your kind words, I'm just having fun, and adding a little personal touch.

    LazyMan :-)

  • is that an antistatic wrist strap?...I've seen those on some other people but don't really get how they work because i never see it attached to a case via wire and alligator clip or something.

  • They are wireless, they allow for more freedom.

  • mad man perfectionist , but i like it :)

  • I like that, Mad Man Perfectionist!

  • hopefully it comes out cool :)

  • I hope so too!

  • Good mod idea. I never really liked how case fan have such an unfinished look, being such a common part of most systems. 5*

  • Thanks Buddy, I agree 100%,

I'm not sure why CM didn't address this, especially the look there were going after...?..

  • Looking forward to seeing the finished product. Checking out the next vid now.

  • Thanks Bro!

  • When is your build ready? I mean you got a so awsome looking case and hardware..i want to see it in action all set up :P cant wait!

  • Soon Bro Soon!

  • That should look great! 5*

  • Thanks Bro!

  • Is that the same watch TJ has? Nice vid! :)

  • Yeah it's a limited addition Mickey Mouse watch. LOL

  • Almost as good as an Intel Bunny People figure!

  • LOL

  • it will be great mod bro ! 5 *

  • Thank you my friend!

  • Another great vid bro, hadnt u bought a translucent black fan wid red leds on it. ? Well i will watch d next vid now to see wat u do next.

Anyways awesome tutorial to do it. Once a client had asked me to paint the top with a red tone, and it wasnt that hard to open the top mounting. U have made it even easier

  • Yeah, I bought 4 different fans for this change out, still haven't decided which one to use. A LED fan will not produce enough light through the mesh, just like on the front Bezel.

I'm looking to give the Black Widow a heart beat by installing the blinking red LED's and the others to make her soul glow!..

I know it's corny, but I a corny kind of guy! LOL

    LazyMan :-)

  • Looking forward for a new continued video on this! very exiting :)

  • Thanks

  • thanks i was looking how to disassemble this

  • Thanks Bro, I hope this helped.

    Cheers

    LazyMan :-)

  • They call you Lazyman... i dont see it?

    Awesome

  • lol

  • Thanks Bro, I'm only lazy when I want to be. lol

    Cheers

    LazyMan :-)

  • wow...this whole time I thought you were saying "laser-man"

  • LaserMan not a bad name, but I think I will stick with LazyMan. lol

To funny, a couple of times ppl have thought that I was calling them lazy due to the fact that I sign most of my comments with LazyMan. So I added "Cheers" so there is no confusion.

    Cheers

    LazyMan :-)

  • Sweet, nice job man.

  • Thanks Buddy!
