  • The fireballs on the stage are not random, just stand on one side; until they pop out. Hard as hell but love it.

  • Still my favorite arcade title. The ports don't do it justice. The music, enemy placement, control, and coloring are all done to perfection in the original game.

  • Awesome!!!! I've can't remember how many coins I've spent in this machine!!!!

  • @verasloane I know man. It's addicting as hell until at least level 6 as you keep wanting to see what the next added stage is going to be in that next cycle.

  • Nice Cab, Good One

  • I want a Donkey Kong cab now. lol Your reviews are so persuading, John. Haha. I have to get one now!

  • @JohnnyElsewhereTV I know man I would like one as well. They're just so damn expensive and I'm going to wait until I have a house so I don't have to worry about transporting the thing the way the economy is going with rent being so unpredictable.

  • great pick up gamester.keep doing what you're doing and i'm loving the podcast.

  • That DK cabinet is bad ass.

  • I was recently offered one of these for $200 and a Mrs Pacman table top for $300. I was gonna ask you if this was a good deal. But it doesnt really matter cause I cant really afford it right now. :(

  • Most informative review (or is it more of an overview) of a game I've seen in a long long time. Looking forward to more.

  • @DEFkon001 Hey thanks a lot. =)

  • Great video, Gamester! My dream arcade cabinet would be Centipede. I had a ton of fun playing then as a kid and would love to own one. Maybe, even a Millipede cab to go right next to it, hehe. =)

  • @WillSerenity Yeah Centipede is classic!

  • So well done and so educational.

This is the best DK video I've ever seen.

  • @RetroGamer3 Thanks Ed.

  • Keep doing what your doing, I love your videos cause you talk about more then just the gameplay, you give a whole history lesson, I like it, keep it up!

  • Amazing. I love Donkey Kong in any form (arcade or otherwise) and your review was pretty complete. I haven't seen a lot of reviews of the arcade version of the game!!

Glad you were able to pick this up and I gotta say that in the beginning of your video it almost seemed like you were doing a commercial for Goo Gone!

  • I still need to watch the King of Kong. That is my kind of documentery. Great job John.

  • @lotsofgames haha dude you wont be disappointed. my teacher showed it to me and i was blown away.

  • @lotsofgames You really should dude. Chasing Ghosts is another great one based on Pac Man.

  • this kid i know (who i cant hang out with because his house smells like a giant litter box) has donkey kong 3 arcade cab. It sucks.

  • Did you ever get the star wars working?

  • They just released the new updated NES'version on the Red Anniversary Wii in Europe, How about an arcade perfect version on the virtual console Nintendo?

  • Sweet score John. I'll be going to the Kong Off in March, sounds like it's going to be a packed house.

You plan on picking up the Donkey Kong II Jumpman Returns upgrade chip? It's well worth it. It even adds in freeplay mode so you don't need to constantly open up the coin door. I spoke to the designer, Jeff at Funspot and he's a really great guy and the game is REALLY challenging.

  • Hell yeah! You tried to point press! Great review, John. I've been looking for a decent cab for quite a long time. keep up the fantastic work!

  • really cool review...nice price too.....al the cabs around here ppl redo they put multi boards in and sell em for 1,000 ea....

  • Hey John. Did You also know that in the early 80's when the Donkey Kong cartoon was on TV that Mario was also a Zoo Keeper ? Just a little tid bit :)

  • Great review gamester !!! always love to hear the story behind a game.

  • Nice deal john for what you paid for it, I was playing this last night at Barcade in Brooklyn.

  • that was a really good review.

  • That cab looks to be in super condition even though you mentioned it was played around with. and for the price you paid i would have snapped it up to. excellent review John, i can never get enough of seeing videos based on this classic video game.

  • there is a two player sit down cab for Dr. Mario at my local bowling alley i seen last night. They want $300 for it. I played it and it plays fine but im not that crazy about Dr. Mario. Still not sure about it, maybe if it was half the price.

  • CAN U A SPEAK A BIT LOUDER? I CAN BARELY HEAR ANYTHIING, AND IF I TURN UP THE VOLUME ALL THE WAY UP, THE GAME MUSIC IS TOO LOUD.

  • powder blue? looks like the color offered on mercedes sport sedans

  • I thought the pie factory was for Japanese releases. I dont recall ever seeing that level in the states

  • John you lucky bastard you! I've wanted one of those ever since I can remember. Congratz! Easily one of the best arcades ever made.

  • Hey John what country does video games first originate from?

  • @brhocks I believe it was in the USA.

  • sweeeeeeeeeeet $350 is a good deal!

  • your really good at it, its a bloody hard game even now

  • Congrats on getting this Cab John and a great review of a classic.

  • @jboypacman Thanks bro.

  • I have the gameboy Donkey Kong game, and there you also have the 4 arcade levels, including the 'pie' factory. Followed by Donkey Kong Jr.-like levels. Loved it when I was a kid.

  • That looks expensive but so damn cool at the same time. Great vid!

  • Really nice find man. Hit me up sometime and I'll show you some stuff to improve your game.

  • Wow, you're unbelievably good at that game!

  • very in depth review great video nice donkey kong skills man!

  • Awesome review, man. I've been waiting to see you do this for sometime (:

  • My uncle has that exact machine

  • @TheNews1990 sorry i mean his is red

  • @TheNews1990 Nice, it's a classic arcade, and I'm sure your uncle enjoys it.

  • I like games, but I lack the self-discipline to play the games of ol'. After ten minutes they'd bore the hell out of me! And I probably would've died a gazillion times by then. XD

  • You were born in 1981, I was born in '82.

Anyway, interesting facts about the cabinet.

  • @THEsquirrel3d Yeah we're getting old. =)

  • is that the hammer sound from super smash bros. ?

  • Hey guys, there is a potential Donkey Kong kill screen coming up if you're interested.

  • Awesome Cab Gamester, I remember When i finally got my Favorite Arcade (1981 Ms. Pacman) I was so excited as well.

  • wait nevermind!....Chein beat his record again......DAMN!

  • hey john, steve weibe is actually back on top again. he broke the record again last month.

  • how much did this cost

  • Thank you so much for this video! One of the best Classic Arcade. Learned alot in the Video!

  • i agree with the others about you going for the high score man that would be cool as hell

  • I know there is a bug in the board known as the kill screen. It be fun to see the top players play on a emulator without the kill screen.

  • those fireballs are going apeshit in the 4th stage. pun intended

  • You gonna go for the World Record?

  • Sweet! Donkey Kong on the Atari was a huge part of my childhood. I'd like an arcade machine someday.

  • I used the Donkey Kong for the first time at R3play last year, found it easier than I thought it was going to be, but still did not get a huge score lol :o)

  • Funny, I'm watching King of Kong right now.

  • why most you mock me with your wares? haha. Grats man. I want to see your name on Twingalaxies soon :P

  • Wow that is a nice cab. It must have been spendy.

That cab is among my earliest memories of Arcade gaming...

  • Nice review, Donkey Kong is definitely one of my all time favourite arcades. Galaga beat's it for me though! :P
