I always loved this song. But it truly didn't hit me until i heard it after the passing of my grandmother. Especially the line "you told me you'd be there. whenever i needed you. I saw this when I was 8 years old and when he was still in the cast. I know cause I recognized his both singing and normal voice. its a pity that he chose to take his life for people´s bigotery, lack of understandment and quickness to judge. i do hope that people will try to understand the ´´different´´ rather than trying to destroy it. Rest in Peace

he looks like hes about to cry in every one...mustve been so hard to sing this every night. To think i watched him perform this twice on stage, and me and probably the entire audience had no idea what he was going through. at home and on stage. poor guy. i hope his dads proud of himself.

Sad that he kill himself! Outstanding performance and one of the most beautiful voice I've ever heard. What would u do if Someone that loves u and really cares gives u a gift? Would u trow it away or save it and try to enjoy and appreciate the best possible way? GOD gave everybody the best gift of them all, LIFE. I went through a very difficult surgery and i had 3 cardiac arrest during that surgery but GOD have give me the chance to enjoy "my gift" a little longer. THANK YOU GOD! R.I.P. Jason!

@ritsfata He was having trouble and became depressed so he moved to Australia without his family's knowledge, then he commited suicide in February of 2004.

I saw Lion king on the West End in January, seen it before 10 years ago....strange this time i only cired at this song !!! I love his voice...he is such an inspiration. The best Simba internationally!!

I saw this when I was 8 years old and when he was still in the cast. I know cause I recognized his both singing and normal voice. I wish I remember him singing this song more vividly, cause all I remembered was being very sad at the end of the song. I wish he didn't kill himself he was the best Simba. Thank You Jason, for inspiring me and many other actors and/or singers out there.

People PEOPLE he did not die because of his father. His father is actually my grandfather so I would be quiet! Jason was my uncle and only his family know exactly what happened. And it was not because he wanted to br gay or any of that! If u don't know the truth please be quiet because I really miss him. And I know u dont know the truth because he isn't on ur family!! @thecupcakecuties I'm truly sorry for your family's loss. Your uncle was a talented performer with tremendous singing ability. I compare his performance in the Lion King like that of Sean Connery as James Bond, the one who everyone actor who plays adult Simba will be compared to.
I don't know what issues he was dealing with in his last days, but I do hope that he's at peace.

He died from suicide. That was the official cause of death as listed from Australlia. Depression and bipolar disorder are fatal diseases if not treated.
