@pokefan581 Because this is the only one I felt like putting in the work required to translate.
And someone else translated the others for me and set them as video responses (plus I linked them in the descriptions to be doubly sure), so there was no point in messing with it anyway.
@Flykiller852 ...Read the manga? That thing has almost nothing to do with Melty Blood itself.
I mean, the first series was just a heavily altered version of the story from the first game's story mode's first hidden ending, and the second was an altered version of the other hidden, pointless joke ending made into a sequel through some magic and with Sion somehow replaced by Arcueid, with some random reference to part 4 (just ignore the existence of ReACT...) thrown in somehow for good measure.
@braeden113 Or rather, most self-respecting Mugen builders try to copy Melty Blood as much as possible in every aspect, so Mugen is like a low quality this fight.
@hathorliderc This isn't a clear recording at all, but if it seems that way it's because I worked at it for a while. I recorded through S-Video on like the cheapest capture card money can buy, on a low quality setting I might add just so the software could keep up with the image, and then I edited the heck out of the video (the most obvious being cropping off the black borders and cutting out the long load screens).
@mementomori39 Possibly, I suck as Ryougi after all. Sh may be one of my favorite characters, but she is also one of the ones I'm the worst at using, lol.
@kaivin88 Ryougi Shiki first appeared in the series of light novels (books shorter than full novels but longer than short stories) titled "Kara no Kyōkai: the Garden of sinners" which were self-published, written by Nasu Kinoko (later became scenario director of Type-Moon), and illustrated by Takeuchi Takashi (was a manga artist before this and later became character designer of Type-Moon) (both later co-founded Type-Moon). Note Kara no Kyōkai translates to Boundary of Emptiness.
"garan-no-dou" is written like that because that was the way it was in the title, actually spelled out in Romaji with hyphens and all. Note the only parts written in Japanese and not Romaji were "Kara no Kyōkai" and the chapter names. It is impossible to truly translate "garan-no-dou" since the "true" text is not given, but it should "roughly" translate to Void Shrine.
Thánatos is the Greek personification (not god) of death. Mors is the Roman equivalent.
Arcueid and Ryougi have a custom intro. Arcueid calls her ojou-san, that's the only word I can understand. I wonder what Ryougi says to her, she says the same words against Archetype Earth
Okay, they talk a bit fast for my beginner's Japanese knowledge (and it surely doesn't help that they overlap), but this is what it sounds like to me.
Shiki: Eh, this guy might be very worthwhile to spend time on. [rather unsure here, mostly at the end of the original Japanese since Arc is talking at the same time]
Arcueid: You should be an enjoyable warm up, young lady.
And then I realized it was in this video as well, but hey, I had some fun fighting Arcueid for a moment (though I still can't use anyone besides Nanaya or Akiha worth crap..), so it's all good.
@Salminathas I've heard just about everything she's ever done, and the only one that sounded like Ryougi to me was Alphard in CANAAN.
A definite mark of a good VA is that they can act in ways that you can't tell it's them, you know... And that is a large part of the reason why Seki Tomozaku (you may know him as Gilgamesh) is my favorite Japanese VA.
Note: My favorite English VA is Richard Cansino, but he doesn't have as much range to his voice (but he does creepy or badass-scary perfect).
I haven't heard her around as much as you, just a couple places.. mwahaha, it makes me happy to hear that she's that good.
Oh my GOSH, I LOVE HIM. I knew him as Van from Escaflowne first, and because I pretty much idolize Van, it really disturbed me to learn he was Gilgamesh in F/SN. Like when he talks to Saber in those last episodes... I try not to think about it.
I don't know much about voice actors in general, so I don't know who that is... I tend avoid English dubs as much as possible.
@Salminathas Well, there are only a few English dubs I personally consider to be on par with the subs, but there are plenty of others that I have only seen in the dub to begin with, so I have no point of reference there.
Probably most notable, Richard Cansino has been in my top 2 favorite anime: he was Kenshin in Rurouni Kenshin (which I find the pros and cons to both versions cancel each other out, so I like the dub and sub equally, and alternate between them whenever I re-watch,
and Legato in Trigun (which I find the dub to be far superior to the original Japanese, this one being the only case I've ever seen both versions of where I can say that [and the #1 (though not only by any means) reason happens to be Richard Cansino's performance vs. Seki Takehiro's (who is one of my favorites, but Cansino killed him in this case easily)]).
The only non-Type-Moon-related Jpn game I have is Naruto Shippuuden Narultimate Accel 2 (there are others I plan to buy, but I have no money at the moment).
I have Fate/Unlimited Codes (PS2), Melty Blood Act Cadenza (PC), Melty Blood ReACT, Melty Blood Actress Again (obviously), Fate/stay night (PC), Fate/stay night [Realta Nua] (PS2), Fatal+Fake and Crucis Fatal+Fake (PC), Battle Moon Wars 1-4 (PC), Fate/hollow ataraxia (PC), and Tsuki-Bako (PC).
according to some info i found, her eyes are ALWAYS activated. the color effect we see in the ova's is just to tell us she's focusing. again, that's just something i read somewhere. apparently Ryougi's nature cancels out the brain melting effect of the Eyes...to say any further would be spoilers for her character.
Some real famous things Ryougi's VA has done (leaving out many lesser known):
Aura (.hack), Alphard (Canaan), Takada (Death Note), Lunamaria (Gundam S Destiny), Ciel (Kuroshitsuji), Haruhi (Ouran High School Host Club), Crona (Soul Eater), Rip Van Winkle (Hellsing), Aerith (various Final Fantasy VII series things), Lightning (FF13)
I was talking about the game as a whole when I mentioned it was based on Tsukihime. That's a generic line I basically copy and paste to all of my Melty Blood videos.
Kara no Kyoukai was made by Nasu and Takeuchi, the director/writer and character designer for Type-Moon, before Type-Moon was formed (released 1998). Arcueid lost. Ergo: no full moon^^

@Flykiller852 The Sacchin part (although one of the parts that is COMPLETELY unrelated to the actual games) was kinda cool, though.

How'd you get it to work so well on your PC?

@hathorliderc ...I didn't? This is on PS2. My Ceramic White PS2 Slim, to be more specific (yes, I have more than one).

The full titles of each part are:

Kara no Kyōkai -the Garden of sinners- 2/Murder Study (Part 1) - Ryōgi Shiki: ...and nothing heart.
Kara no Kyōkai -the Garden of sinners- 3/Remaining Sense of Pain - Asagami Fujino: ever cry, never life.
Kara no Kyōkai -the Garden of sinners- 4/Void Shrine - " ": garan-no-dou.
Kara no Kyōkai -the Garden of sinners- 5/Paradox Spiral - Enjō Tomoe: Paradox Paradigm.
