hi Love your tank just love the design, but i have a question. During feeding with my fish i put cichlid pellets in the the tank but the fish don't notice them at all. I have 4 juvenile Yellow Labs. They been in the tank for 2 days now and this was the first feeding so i am worried about them. Please respond thx.
hey cld you please help me figure this out im wanting to get a 75 gallon african cichlid tank i want these fish but can you tell me if thats to many in if you think it would work thanks 1 albino peacock 1 blue peacock 1 yellow peacock 3 johanni 2 bumble bee 2 blue colbalt 3 demasoni 1 electric blue 2 electric yellow labs 2 kenyi 3 mbuna 2 orange leleupi 1orange peacock cichlid 1 red peacock 2 venustus 2 tretocephalus 2 red zebra n 3 moorei 2 frontosa and 2 fuelleborni marmalade
So, the backround is carved out from styrophoam and covered in cement. I guess it's painted in black, isn't it? And what about the foreground? Are they real rocks?
Beautiful setup, Thanks for sharing, after not having a tank for about 10 yrs, used to have two 55's I just bought a 60 gallon hex. Now I'm torn as to which way I want to go with my new setup. One of my 55's was a african cichlid tank and the other was angels and neon tettra's. Both are beautiful setups, love the serenity of the angels, but love the colors of the cichlids, just wish they weren't so aggresive.
thats really beautiful fsetup and i am really intrested in having a display like that im a big fan of a natrual habitat rather the cartoony look and i was woundering if u could make a "how too" video on how to make a display lk tht or if you know where i might find guidlines in making that kind of display im sure my yellow lab and cobalt blue would love sumthing like that
hey beautiful aquarium, i got a 60 gal cichlid tank. i was wondering if you ever had like a smoke white substance on the bottom, i went away for the weekend and came back and the water was dirty and this stuff was all over the bottom. i know the water cant get that dirty in 3 days, so maybe i thought they were mating or something. if you have any idea what that stuff is ide appreciate if u let me know or post a link to a forum where i can ask. thanks a lot
QUICK QUESTION: is it OK 2 let these African Cichlids grow wit' some Tiger Oscars, 'cause i just bought me 3 Baby Oscars (they 'bout tha size of some feeder fish, well a'lil bigger then that) but i was just seein'...
alright thank for the help AxRhea88 I thought you were right because I have 2 males just bye them selves and they do perfactly fine even when the albino red zebra is more than twice the size of my golden cichlid
i got three about a month ago, and i have been feeding them cichlid sticks, but they havent eaten since day one, and now they all are dead. what was the matter with them
@uncfan82930513; Well either your water was messed up or they didn't see the food, couldn't get to the food, or it was too big to eat. Feed them smaller bits of food or take the food in between your fingers, and dip it under the water then let go. Some fish don't eat from the top of the water if you just sprinkle it on the surface, you have to actually submerge it so it flies right across their face, plain as day. Goodluck.
Is it true that your not supposed to put more than one male African cichlid in a African cichlid tank? And that the rest of the fish should be females?.....Hey nice tank and fish and vid by the way
@AugustousKing; Not true at all. I have an all-male African Cichlid tank and it's perfectly fine. It's when you put 1 female in with all those males, then you have problems. So either have an all male tank, or 1M:3F(3 females to every 1 male), to reduce aggression between the females when the male is..horny haha.
Awesome! Is your background made of real rocks or the styrofoam DIY with cement? Very nice! I have seen other backgrounds but they don't have caves. Yours is brilliant. Just what they like! Well done!
@jeffrenz14 It depends. African cichlids.. Tanganyika? Malawi? Mbuna? Or what kind? The fish' the owner of the video has in his tank are Mbuna, they prefer vegetable food.
do you think 3 bala sharks, 5 clown loach, 3 gouramis, 1 red irian and 3-4 zebra danios would fit in there. theya re all campatible i checked. bye the way nice tank. i like your set up its not to planty or rocky.
By far the MOST amazing aquarium I have ever seen! Could you provide a link to where you learned to do the background like that? If not post it here could you message it to me?
Very beautiful tank. What substrate do you use? Is it sand or crushed coral or what? What type of rock did you use for the background and how much did it cost roughly? much thanks!
Awesome tank... I am hoping to get a tank in the next six months... Hopefully I can design a tankscape as visually stunning and as functional (for the fish) as this tank; looks like the fish actually enjoy living in this tank. ...Anyway, if you can offer any pointers on how you achieved this awesome set up; I'd surely take your advice to heart. ...All the Best.
What an incredible tank, the background and plants are perfect and the fish are lovely. I like when that big beastly pseudotropheus (?) comes out at 1:04
First off man, AWASOME TANK! I just want to know if you made the rocks in the front or if they are real? Also, did you just put those plants in or have they been they for a while? And how do you keep those plants alive?
I love this tank. I am about to a DIY background myself and I am glad I found this first. Did you make the rocks seperate then attach them together with silicon?
The rock display is really nice. Did you glue them all together? I cant make out how you did that whole construction, especially the uppper half, since it looks like 1 huge rock. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Thanks for the compliment! The background rock is actually a custom built 3D background I made out of styrophome and covered in dyed cement. I found a forum where they discused the process of making a 3D background so I tried it. This is actually the second one I have made and it has turned out even better than the first. A couple of other people keep asking me to make one for them and they would buy it but, so far it is just a fun hobby for me. Hope this helps and thanks again.
@bcharlett Yeah it is a really amazing rock work.. how much would it cost for a tank to look similar to that for you to make for a 200 or so gallon tank?
