  • Fizzy, for growl an 800 will work better or an 1959 with attenuator for that matter.

  • @fon267 yeh it was a bit fizzy but in the room it was considerably less fizzy.....the little cam corder flip camera I was using does not have the best audio....

  • @masque1313 well the camera is relevant for sure, I have the same Gibson Les Paul (had it refinished though) but I use it with a 1959 cranked with a Rivera attenuator and its raw!. I guess a great deal in tone has to do with the volumes, even in the master volumes amps cranking them up improves the tone dramatically, I can´t imagine not having an attenuator anymore, they just improve your sound so much. Cheers

  • @fon267 ah man.....i agree 100% I have been looking hard at the Rivera attenuators....I am very impressed with how they sound and thinking about getting one for sure.....

  • @masque1313 well I recommend it, its quite expensive but I'm sure it would bring a lot of extra tone to your amp, I've also heard many good things about JVMs but as I said even in master volumes an attenuator can exploit a lot more of an amps potential. Keep Rocking

  • This is awesome! I have the same set up - except my Les Paul Traditional is in Desert Burst LOL! I use Crunch Red with a BB Preamp for my main rhythm tone live (covers band) and it gets used for probably 80-90% of the night. Great amp. OD1 Orange is my next favourite. Great saturated tone there.

  • which song is the first riff?

  • @hmn4466 somebody get me a doctor by van halen from van halen 2

  • Hey there! IWhat was the volume on for the channel/master volume? Also, I'd like to know what your gain was! Thanks!

  • @bada222 the fx loop was engaged and running thru a lexicon mpx-1.....and I sort of control the overall output volume at that unit. the master volume was on about 2-3 but actual volume in the room was low....towards the end of the video i make a pretty big mistake and stop playing and say "yikes" and then begin playing again.....when I speak you can hear that my voice is similar volume to the amp or maybe a little lower. gain was on 6 with a BB preamp engaged with it's gain on about 2-3.

  • @masque1313 thanks bro. Been trying forever to get a solid crunch tone out of my JVM

  • you must have played in a band, you have a good vocabulary of great tunes".

  • Styx! Awesome!

  • Sounds great. That is the Traditional pro correct? I want to drop a BB3 in my Traditional. Hope if flys. LOL. Rock on!

  • @LesterPaul01 yes it is!! good luck on your pickup change!

  • anything after the 800"s have a synthetic quality in the tone and feel stiff and grainy.Rivera Knucklhead Tre is the King of amps! for Rock!

  • @dewycatt2112 thanks for the tip....i'll be sure and check one of them out.

  • Thnx was wondering if you could get a good page tone & nice playing the bb really is awesome.

  • @c3morgan37 you know actually you really can........for best results though I would have to switch to a different mode on the amp and really add some volume and I didnt do that because the flip camera I was using struggled with the mild room volume as it was.

  • Thnx again so much. & I never knew that about the head room & actual dec. diff getting it. GC has the head for 1900

  • how much??? wow you my dream equipment (the amps) and my dream guitar

  • MAN YOU HAVE MY DREAM SET UP... IM ABOUT 4 DAYS AWAY FROM A TRIP TO G.C. TO GET THIS BUT REALLY WANTED TO ASK A ? IS THIS A GOOD HEAD FOR GARAGE PLAYING OR SHOULD I GO FOR THE 50WATT HEAD??? JUST HAVE SOME WORRIES ON VOLUME???? THNX FOR YOUR TIME...

  • @c3morgan37 hey thanks a bunch for the comments.....YES, this is a great head for garage playing.....keep in mind that the real difference between a 50 watt head and 100 watt head is mostly headroom and only about 3db of actual volume difference.....plus the JVM has individual channel volumes plus two different master volumes and sounds good at low volumes......you can always add a "hot plate" with it to allow the masters to be cranked and volume to remain low.

  • lil raspy sounding perhaps?

  • Somebody get me a doctor !

  • what exactly do u mean with c and d shape??

  • Billy Thorpe yeah!

  • Tone heaven

  • Great playing ang great guitar but it sounds too sizzly especially compared to the triaxis video. G12T75's maybe?

  • wow... Rockin' The Paradise and Blue Collar Man from STYX.... I hardly ever heard those songs again these days..... nice playing....

  • is the top carved or is it a flat top?

  • sounds sick man. Are you tuned down for the halen stuff?

  • Great Playing! Amazing tone!!!! What are your settings?

  • I had the same guitar and sold it..the 60's neck wasn't doing it for me. You either love it or hate it...

  • @JBL8863 I don't understand when you say love it or hate it. I'm fine with the 60s neck cuzz ive played strats and stuff. And i tried the trad plus with the 50s neck it all felt the same am i weird??

  • @ddayxable The differance is 60's design is D shape and the other is C shape...Most LP models used both but it's all in how it feels...I've tried a tappered D shape neck and loved it, have it on a Krammer.

Gibson Les Pauls are beautiful instruments for sure but every guitar reminds me of a pair of shoes..meaning you have to find the right one that feels comfortable and fits your hands & fingers vs your feet.

Some of my favorite guitars cost less than $300. then modified them.

  • amazing tone!!! nice playing too!

  • What Cabinet is that?

    Luke

  • excuse me but which song is the first song if you dont mind

  • whats the first riiffyouu are playing ?

  • @ryjeek Somebody get me a doctor - VH

  • what do you think the bb preamp adds? worth getting?

  • @TomRichardson92 it's essential for boosting gain and treble bite esp on the crunch orange (van halen/malmsteen tone) and crunch red (hot rodded jcm 800 for megadeth /slayer). I have a jvm2 and the best channels are crunch red and orange. not impressed with the others.

  • Could you just play BB solo? And isn't that a traditional Pro??

  • Halen rules cool.......................

  • the fx loop has an ISP decimator and a lexicon mpx-1 in it. both of them were off for this video but the loop was still engaged. the boost pedal is in front of the amp.

  • why's your FX loop on? is that where your boost is? in which case, that's just pushing to power tubes, not the preamp.

  • Hey dude! you have really cool amplifiers!
