Hey! Where are all the heroic real world pics where firechicks are carrying out scared children,unconscious men and women out of burning buildings and wrecks? These are nothing but empty glamor and maybe even costume staged shots backed up by mediocre power rock music. If your a real female fireman that can actually hold you own with the men your serving with,you should be insulted by this.
@TheWarbirdPhoenix in your imagination. female firefighters cant physically compare to men, and everyone knows that. any male firefighters will be expected to pick up the slack left behind by a female one at any time.
The women can fail the physical aspect of most tests and still become firefighters. Have any of you lads seen the BBC reality show where 2 women and 2 men went through obstacles a firefighter would encounter.
All the women failed, while both men, one untrained, got through the challenges flawlessly.
Unable to knock downa door? That could be your family burning alive on the other side, while 150lb Jane tries her best and doesn't make it in time.
Nevermind equality, this video just sucks. A slide show and a song? Get some video of a woman fighting a fire or going through a training exercise if you want to "pay homage" to them. This is little more than a "Girls of Firefighting" calender without numbers. Garbage.
@MagnumP14 Excuse you is right ? i am a female junior volunteer firefighter and us females can do anything the guys can do even if we have to work harder at. Our place isn't in the kitchen its were we want it to be which is firefighting so there
i love this video. i dont speak for my self but as well for my other female firefighting friends. we have the same endurance as the guys in our depts. and being a firefighter is something that i will never regret.
Both men & women who have the mental ability to learn the trade and brute strength to break down a door & carry adults out of a burning building, can do it. Those who don't have those capabilities, cannot do it. Some men can do it and others cannot. The same goes for women.
@Northstander Well no they cant you see, because the majority of firefighter women are fat lazy slugs that cant preform half the task of their male counterparts. Yes there are some fucking butch manly women firefighters, but the majority dont deserve their positions. Example: My physical course time 7:30s, one of my peers 14:36s. Even lard as volunteers finish under 11:00s. Think about that if you're ever trapped in a building on fire. Males being nurses is irrelevant.
@MagnumPI4 Excuse you?? I'm a female AND Volunteer Firefighter, and I'm not a 'butch manly woman' as you so *kindly* put it. And I can do the job just as good as anyone in my department. My personal opinion is your just sexist, and that's just not right. I suppose you think a woman's place in in the kitchen as well? It shouldn't matter what sex someone is as long as the fire gets put out and the people saved....
@heartagramchick94 yea if, i have seen women break down and i have personally had to carry their load during training. A girl at my school just stopped on the second floor of our training tower and dropped her high rise pack, so i had to carry hers and mine the other three stories. I dont have a problem if a women can carry her own weight, but jesus christ when they cant perform the easiest task i just want to explode.
@heartagramchick94 the worst thing that is knowing that she will get hired over the rest of us white irish/german males even though were more qualified. Its all fine and good if ur a vollie and want to play firefighter. Its a whole different story when a women is getting paid the same as you and you are doing more work, and are more qualified. Gotta love those dual hiring list!
@MagnumPI4 Well I'll admit, not all woman can do it. But there's some men that couldn't as well, you have to admit that. Would you rather have a woman that can pull her own weight, as compared to a male who couldn't even put on a SCBA properly? I think you just need to state what your saying better. @heartagramchick94 I still say Volunteers and Paid are the same, in fact it's harder to be a volunteer because we don't get all this money handed to us like the paid departments do.
@heartagramchick94 usually its just a psychological problem for men. I have meet inept men, but maintenance and gear problems can be over come. Physical problems aren't that easily over come. I know what i said and meant it. People can tell if that women earned her spot or not as well as her co-workers. Biased hiring is unfair and is a problem creator not a problem solver

It keeps the media happy and all these women power groups out of the cheifs hair. If firefighters were hired on their abilities alone almost all firefighters would be white males. Here are the stone cold facts white men do statistically better than minorities on the written test and better than females in the physical test. Its just common sense.
