hey nice job on this. I know its a bit old now but this was enough inspiration for me to continue working on my fluid dynamics engine for verlet max, my physics engine.
Did you use GPU acceleration for this or multithreading? I would be interested in what optimization algorithms you used as well as this is decently faster than my current fluid dynamics. lol maybe a lot faster.
It's great to see that you are going to work on Polluted Planet again. I have been waiting forever! So, will the final release be made with Java, XNA, or some other thing I haven't mentioned?
Yeah I know chipmunk doesn't have fluid dynamics, but I've seen a lot of quasi-fluid demos with chipmunk using circle collisions (like this), so I just took a guess :)
that looks really really really frikkin cool! great physics - what did you use? navier stokes with shear and compressibility? Its looks super cool. Is is stable enough to download?
Like the verlet integration you are using for your other vids? It works great. That would be great for simulating explosions and things - shockwaves and stuff would just emerge naturally.
you're just basically supposed to wash out as much of the black particles, which represent pollution (especially oil, like those oil spills), as possible. when you fly around, you are also using fuel, so that's why you emit a few black particles too, so it's also how efficiently you can clean.
well, in this version, as long as your score is more than 0, you can go to a blue circle thing, (it's usually in the right) and press enter to go to the next level.
it's going to be a physics game. i've updated the information, so now there's a link to the page that has a download. there's also a thread about this on the fun-motion forums that i created.
its the beta :(

Hows this coming Grant?
I don't know if you remember me (Robert Plante), but I asked for your help over on Vimeo regarding fluid simulation.

Looks like Liquid Wars. Is that chipmunk? I've seen some demos of fluid simulation with that and it's unbearably slow on average hardware... :)
Samahnub 3 years ago 2
it's not chipmunk. chipmunk doesn't actually have fluid dynamics that was just circle collisions.

i used smoothed particle hydrodynamics with particles, which aren't the grid based simulations i believe you are talking about.

this is kind of similar, but it uses density and then decides whether to pull particles in or push them away.

this game will crash my pc. great work.

Hey I think you should also insert solid objects (made by particles but solid) and you should also make the little charachter soft!

cool mechanic, the way it moves dynamically is great. i love when the membranes burst. And the ground being a little shakey and jello-y is cool too

i dont get the point of this game, its too hard for me

i know that but its just way to hard because you keep spewing out oil when moving

not yet. i'm working on it.
