  • Great video. I went there around this same time and was probably the same age as these kids. I remember thats all I wanted to do the whole time I was over there.

  • This looked SO good! Wish i'd been around at the time.

  • Man, does this place exist today? I fucking need to go there!

  • I was just thinking about Sega World I used to love going there as a kid it was fucking amazing, Thought i would see if anyone has uploaded anything and shur enough there is stuff, thanks. I miss the 90s good old day. What they done to Sega world is like what they done at chessington theme park with the Bubble works ride, now its some soap ride, very similar but different, not the same memories .

  • @RiseOfPotatoSalad Yeah. Very true. Thankfully, after Sonic Colors success, and Sonic Generations HUGE success on being the most pre-ordered game of the year, Sonic is coming back strong! :)

  • i whis they made this in the U.S.A i would it love it soo much and i would goo soo much.....

  • @Cerulli1961 Can't you let us have one thing? You've got the best theme parks and such over there!

  • shame it got shut down, i loved it there

  • Of all the times I've walked into Funland i always used to say, it's the closest thing to Sega Park, and i got a strange feeling from the place of when i used to go to a sega park years ago when i was young, then i come on here an find out it was actually a Sega World once.... Well....... Jesus Christ might i say :O

  • Its horrible now.

  • Sonic all over SEGAWorld because [just saying] HE IS SEGA!!!!!

  • I always wanted to go, my uncle went and he got me a sonic teddy and a leather sega football, i still have the teddy. I even dreamt of going here when i was a kid and i had a master system II. But i lived in manchester and it was too far. I wish sega would come back like they used to be, and why has sony, MS or nintendo made a theme park? or atleast have a gaming themed park and you could have a ms, ps, ninty, sega etc section? it would be great advertising.

  • Mario disliked this.

  • they should have made segaword in the us.Sonic was very popular over here too you know.Too bad sega world never existed here. And also it sucks i was born when this place was not in use or closed i dont know

  • Frickin awesome <3

  • Too bad Sega World is in UK and AU, i live in the US, and i wasn't born in the 90's. Insted of Sega World we get Disneyland, Six Flags, Cedar Point, Kings Island, Kennywood, Hersheypark, Knott's Berry Farm, Busch Gardens, Sea World, But Not Sega World :(

  • i wish they still had this stuff

  • i agree with you manty64 but im a girl

  • LOVE THE 90S!

  • I accidently stumbled across this place last year when I went to the Ripley’s Believe It Or Not Grand Emporium in Piccadilly Circus, I had heard about it before from friends and I really wanted to take a look. When I got there I saw the giant escalator blocked off by a PEPSI vending machine and it was really upsetting seeing something of such great repute abused and covered in rubbish and several used syringes.

  • believe it or not but theres actually one of these in dubai they were building it when i went on holiday there a couple of years ago. its got most of the same stuff from segaworld

  • I was up there last week for the first time in ages. It's a complete dump now unfortunately. The old rocket escalator up to sega world is blocked off by a vending machine. I believe they are going to turn the trocadero into a "pod hotel" or something.

  • @motormouth1974v3 skale the machines and take a video. it would go viral!

  • The good old days before funland

  • This is somewhat depressing.

  • I got a free ticket to there, my dad said he'd take me. He never did.

    My dad is an arsehole.

This is something I CAN'T buy off Ebay. >_>

  • @Oscy I know the feeling, my dad promised we would go and we never went. I will never get that chance now.

  • 0:15

Look at these Back to the future looking ass kids LMAO.

Man I'd do anything for Funland to change back into Segaworld for a day :(

I wonder where are the arcade machines went

  • been there yesterday, sadly it's callen "fun land" now, still an awesome arcade.. still miss SEGA..

  • Comment removed

  • The only thing I like about sonic the hedgehog is the 1st second and 3rd games. The next thing is the music choices of those games.

  • i remember this place it was quite a laff them oldskool arcade games that motorbike one forgot the name of it and that big ride in the middle that used to shoot up and shoot back down gud old days

  • jus found it closed on wikipedia 2day, thought it mite have bin still open was thinking bout goin 2mra lol

  • been there last time was 1997

  • i want that statue of sonic in my collection ^^

  • it looks so 70s

  • Funland? More like Funworld. Bebe's Kids have terrorized Sega World!

  • why is everyone so interested in feeling all over sonic statues?

  • I'll mainly remember the epic Daytona linked machines with live video feeds. And the only place I ever saw the trackball controlled SEGASONIC and Sonic the Fighters arcade machines!

    Loved it!

  • Oh my gosh! I remember that place. I can't believe they no longer have that place anymore. Gutted! I want that place back!

  • There was no need for the Millenium Dome...

...the money would've been better spent on Sega World...

  • My mum took me to Sega World i back around 1996-97, it's right next to Picadilly Circus. Those were the days.

  • My mum took me to Sega World i back around 1996-97, it's right next to Picadilly Circus. Those were the days.

  • I have been to this place, only once. And it was at October 1996. I was there too. Who can tell me how this looks today? Does this 'underworld' still exists? As I remember it was somewhere below Piccadilly Circus ???

  • @Snowwie888

It looks similar, although less bright and no neon lighting. It would not excite children as much, but the video games etc are still pretty good, its the place to go to play the new street fighter or the new tekken etc. But it will never have the name appeal that Sonic had back in his days

  • @Snowwie888 I just came back from london. Basically, the big escilator has been blocked off with a coke machine, and all the lights above the floor with that enterance are turned off. There's no signs, etc its all stripped. Below that, It's still a popular arcade with all the latest sega machines as well as the classics, (theres about 15 daytona usas across 2 floors). And a Cinema, but theres no rides. I think there might be dodgems but I wasn't there for too long.

  • @richardmaudsley77...yeah theres nothin good there now :( besides the arcade and a forbbiden planet store...

  • to be this good it takes AGES

to be this good it takes SEGA

  • I didn't notice that SEGA is AGES unitl now :-).

  • @badboyvct oh i get it.

  • Awh, that looked awesome!!! I WISH I WAS BORN IN LONDON NOW!!! SEGA, WHY WOULD YOU LET IT FALL!?!? WHY!?!?!?!? *sobbing*

  • @KiteTh

    @KiteTh

It wasn't Sega that let it fall, it was all o' y'all!

It took millions of dollars for Sega to invest in Sega World, but not enough people (that would be you, the public) came.

There just wasn't enough business and thus, it b-came a giant money pit; had Sega held onto it, they would've gone bankrupt.

And then where would Sonic be? That's right, in oblivion. It's the law of economics, dude!

  • CURSE YOU, FUNLAND!!!!

  • cant watch.........far too sad.....

  • (sobs) please come back sega world

  • i was 10

  • Good times... funland is ok, but the place just looks so run down, if only SEGA could have predicted the return to popularity of Sonic.. The two upper decks are closed off and used as studio space, such a waste...

  • Trocadero is not as good as it used to be i miss it. :(

  • I Just Saw A new Sega World Sydny At Alstrailia At Wikipidia Its Open And Not Tored Up!

  • What?! I live in Melbourne Australia so I am so going there!

  • WAIT Its Not the Same But Its a SMALL place But Its Cool

  • Im Mad Becuse I live At Chacago And I want This Place At Chacago Clevland Ohio Austraila Im Mad dis Place is Gone!!! I never Went here Cuz i Didnot know Sega At the time! Mad face

  • I remember going there as a kid, I remember many blue lights and wanting a sega saturn.

  • Sega if you ever read my comment then hear this.

"Buy the Funland back and bring Sega World back to the UK. You had one of the best indoor amusement parks and you gave it all away for money. Bring back Sega World you tits, thats the way to get you back on top of the gaming industry."

Rest in Peace Sega World :(

  • segas the best!

  • i went there a few times. was incredible.

  • I went there when I was about.. 7 or 8 in the late 90's, I think it was just about to shut down.. all the rides were switched off, but it was still a really awesome place :D

  • this wouldve been my disney land

  • That's bloody Sweet!!

  • It is sad to see this place like it is today. Kids of today don't really recognise sega anymore. Because of sega's demise Nintendo should buy that place and turn it into a Nintendo World like the one in new york.

  • dw i do i love sega and im 12 all the old game consoles rock.

  • Went there aswell when I was younger. Good times!

  • If I ever had the opportunity to go to Britain for that as a kid, I would have gone apeshit.

  • wow i would of loved to go there but now gone why o why sega is goning down hill

  • I went there in 1998 when I was 16. It was great.

  • If only those kids knew how sick they'd be of Sonic today...

  • sega wold is no more...

and i didn't even get to see it... except in Hanson's first VHS

  • I remember SEGAWORLD. Oh the memories that came flooding back when seeing this captured footage. I remember the haunted house ride the bumper car shooting thing! man, to think at the time when that felt state-of-the-art. Almost forgot the many floors dedicated to the arcade games.

  • gaaaah i miss this place

  • Yeah according to wiki, theres a vending machine blocking the entrance off *is tempted to jump behind the vending machine and run up the escalator*

  • Me too mate, you no what i actually had a dream that i actually ran up the escalator.

  • @AtavanHalen7 :D apparntly im in USA :( lol

  • I am a TOTAL sonic fanboy, and this place looks like heaven to me. :D

  • @Manty64 too bad it closed :)

  • i were there was GREAT...im from germany :D were there with my uncle and my cousin ,they live in london it was the one and only

  • Yeah, I was there last week. It's so sad to see that big escalator all dark and leading to nowhere. :(

  • It's a shame I was only 6 when this place was open and I didn't visit the centre of London much. It's odd how 9 years after it's closeure, they've done nothing with the 3 or so floors at the top of the Trocadero. It's like a whole section of a building not being used! The new owners are rumoured to be regenerating the whole centre though...

  • I wish i had gone while it was still open i'm so stupid(Crys like a baby)

  • Damn it!!!

:( Why didnt I know about this earlier!?

Im living in Norway and are going to a little trip to London in about one week.

I am sonic-fan and really wanted to see this, but... then it's CLOSED?!

    DAMN IT! *crying* *sob*

Now Im really crying because I had waited for this little trip in a half year. :[

Can anyone confirm that it is closed? With a picture or something...? *sob*

I just can't belive I have to travel to Japan instead to see Sega World... :(

  • ehh but funland the arcade thing is still open.. like i went there not long ago and i live in london.. :S

  • ...i was too young to understang wat sega or segaworld was, I was 2 =(

  • they're MANIACS! THEY CLOSED IT DOWN! DAMN THEM! DAMN THEM ALL TO HELL! the simulator floor is gone and it used to be like 6 floors now its only 3-4 i really miss going there..

  • THEY CLOSED IT DOWN?! FUCK THEM!!!!

  • yeh.. it really sucks.. they closed it because sega was losing major money because of it..so they had to sell it.. its KINDA still there.. the cool escalator is still there.. but the escalator to arcade heaven.. is blocked off..

  • OMG, why didn't I know about this place when it was open? just aswell cos I would have bunked off school and snook on a trian to go there

  • Hi there

Really wanted to go there when it was first opened but mother as always refused (since it cost money to get in) But when it became free, I just went there loads. Was rather upset to hear later on that it closed =( Oh well...things can't last forever ^^; Nice vid btw

    Euan

  • Man, I was only like 4. When did this place change?

  • It didnt change. It closed.

  • Nooooo don't tell me it closed. :( I'm going to London next week and I was looking forward to visiting this place again... So what is there now instead of Sega World?

  • Some stupid other amusement park. Trust me it sucks.

  • ehh, i swear its Funland that arcade thingy now?

  • It Closed In 2000 MAN I want To Go to londan Jump over That Vendin Mahcine And Just Play Sega Saturn Cuz im broke NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • If you want to go to a Sega World today, go to Japan. There are HUNDREDS upon HUNDREDS of Sega World arcade centers there.

  • I been to Funland before I went to Grease the Musical with my sister, Sam and her friends.

  • I WAS ONLY TWO YEARS OLD!! WHAAAAAA!!! cool place though... *sniff* im fine dont worry about me...*sob*

  • THIS PLACE WAS AMAZING!!!!!!

  • i cry in side because i never had the lucshory of going there! WAAAAAAAAAAA and i read all about it and i think damn why the fucking hell did they have to remove these!! now i know what i have to do!! i need all the info about this place what all the games were and all the sites every thing cause im going to rebuild this in Google Sketch up!! so ppl shoot me messages of what you know!! and ill be looking for pics too!! any thing that will help me!!

  • i love SEGA i wish i could go there:(*cries*

  • My god, that's my childhood right there.

I took one visit to SEGA World, then when i went a 2nd time I went it had become funland, I literally shed a tear because on the wall, I could see the sillhouette of where a Sonic picture was once on the wall..

  • at least you still have funland. Namco wonderpark got close down at meadowhall and it was the best arcade up in the north and now its boarded up all because greedy bastards like meadowhall wanted to make more money buy opening more restraurnts in its place and shoving the arcade operators out. I was close to tears when I found it shut so think yourself luck :(.

  • @sonicmarkandfriends That is so sad :( What fond childhood memories I too have of this magical wonderland.

  • gagaman, just FYI:

    It is TrocAdero.

    Cool vid!

  • I only ever went there once, but my goodness. It was like being a super dream.

  • Oh wow flashbacks! I remember that place! Although the main games I got to try were Sonic the Fighters and sonic the arcade game how the mighty have fallen or something I guess, Sega only makes games now and most of the arcade scene is dead thanks to online games x.x I wonder what happened to all the stuff they removed?

  • Yeah, I played the two Sonic games there too. I believe that was the only place in the UK that had cabinets of those rare games.

I wouldn't be surprised if a bunch of the Segaworld stuff was shipped to any of the many Japanese arcade centers they still have.

  • @shinkosai Sold it but i think LOADS of rare merchandise and Machines and litter is up there but Now the council are building a POD hotel up there.

  • @shinkosai It all got auctioned off around the world to various places .........like my room

  • I remember reading about this place in an issue of Sonic the Comic. What else did you do?

  • You should check out the Segaworld articles at the Blog, I wrote everything I can remember about the place there.

  • Oh god! The colours! The neon!

Looks brilliant. Where abouts in London was it?

  • The Trocodero in Piccadilly Circus. Now there is just a one floor arcade up that escalator, which has also had all the awesome lighting stripped from it.

  • whos idea was it to put up punching sandbags with sonic and tails on them :P

  • Wow!! That's awesome!!! I never knew a place like that existed!!
