  • Whether the Western corporate media acknowledges it or not, we have become a threat to Iran because of Republican support of using Saddam Hussein's military machine to wage war against them, our refusal to even reply to a peace deal from Iran in 2003, and Bush's inflamitory remarks judging Iran as evil backed up by a policy of preemptive war and regeimn change with an eye on Iran's oil resources. If you realize that we are the aggressors with Iran, you start to see that subtlety is a good thing

  • Obama knows that when you get past your feelings ( which McCain never could have ) that what's most important of all is to make peace with the Iranian government in a way that avoids war and nuclear proliferation. Obviously from the Cairo speech it is clear that what's needed is assurance from Washington that we are respectful of the Arab perspective , along with nonaggressive emphasis on our values, including democracy. Another axis of evil speech will have the same effect is had last time.

  • It sounds like Don Lambro is asking for what's often called in Washington, a "strong" reaction from the president. But this president is a little more sophisticated about what is in fact strong. If we had elected John McCain I'm sure he would have been full of angry words, but Obama is playing a more subtle game. He realizes that the United States in fact took down a democratic election in Iran in 1953 and that this is paramount in modern Iranian thinking and sentiment.
